Just curious, why is it not a good idea to wind the clock within five minutes before the next chime? Never heard that before, so I thought I might ask why.

I have been doing this but it makes no difference at all ?

I clicked on the first video that I saw since one of the clocks in your video is almost identical to what I have (thought it was at first). I knew NOTHING about cuckoo clocks and now I can confidently say, I know what I need to from your video. I have one, it does not have power indicators but otherwise the same clock. Works great.

Neat watch but I am not a fan of battery operated watches. Some people have too much electricity in their bodies that dont help out when wearing watches. I am one of those people. My dad was the same way.

Thanks for the video. The problem I'm having is that the pendulum stops swinging after about 3 to 5 minutes. The weight seems to be dropping, so I don't think there's any tangle in the chain. I just can't figure out why the pendulum stops. Any ideas?

Mid 60s. My grandfather brought 2 back with him from Guam and I have one. I have the paperwork for mine and the purchase date was 1967.

Yes, antique BF cuckoos, also with quail. Often they had only 30 hr movements which is a shame, but occasionally they did make 8 day ones. Fusee ones are 8 day and prefer brass plates for rigidity

What about the battery-operated clocks. You didn't explain about those?

It’s crazy how this tall case musical clock is far more advanced than most of the early American tall case clock! I’m quite surprised by how much weights it carries! I’m sure it’s the same weight as 36” crt tv! The movement must have been cast brass which is why it was thick and heavy. Majestic bells sound!

Nice clock. The cuckoo quail clock is a great addition to any clock collection. I've been a big fan of chiming clocks since I was a baby. I have about 40 of them in my clock collection already, and I plan to collect even more and learn to repair clocks someday, too.

This clock is from the 80’s. A promotional clock. I worked for the company in 1984 which was the year they were giving them away as awards for high sales.

Seth!...Dude!. Finally someone has a clock like mine!. I have a cuckoo like this and could not figure out the pattern and could not find one anywhere. Coincidentally, I, too, paid $100 for it. Mine has an eagle on the top and a bird on either side. Thanks so much. Now I can sleep once again 😎😎😜😜
