    I drove mine for 25 years and for me driving hghways was never the weekness of that bike. I switche 10 years ago ago to a Moto Guzzi V7 which is much lighter more handy.

      Stability wise it is great, but cruising for an hour and a half between 70-80mph especially in the freezing weather was not it's best application. Did sound great though !! I am looking at another bike to replace her though. So stay tuned for the up date!

      @@CharliesBikerTales unless they want to hide country of origin. Most leather jackets are Chinese or from Pakistan, which would be fine if standards/quality are there (in this case its a nice heavy weight jacket, recommended by a few Bikers on youtube). It just seems too good to be true. £90 for a top-grain jacket, a price I'd expect genuine leather to sell at. Been going down the rabbit hole a bit for a jacket seems a Vanson C2 is a great buy, but don't know if I'm upselling myself or a great jacket could be had for less?

      I can only go by feel and comparison to my other leather jacket which is a course jacket from xl moto. Leather is thicker than the course jacket and at the moment I can't see any faults in quality. But time will tell

    Come on man, that’s not a hack it’s common sense!

    • @CharliesBikerTales
      @CharliesBikerTales 20 днів тому

      Maybe, but for some who have only ever experienced car insurance......which doesn't really work in the same way (more correlates to engine size rather than vehicle age) it can seem odd. Also for someone looking at a new cb500 which could be classed as the optimal first bike .....it might not be from a financial perspective. Think the more information we can share the better. What maybe obvious to some with experience may seem odd to new riders. I know at first it did to me. Hope you have had a great New Year! Thanks for the comment and feedback

  • @wolfe1970
    @wolfe1970 20 днів тому

    This isnt a hack, its common knowledge that older bikes are cheaper, cause the value of the bike is less, the insurance cover on bikes is mainly on theft over accidents and its cheaper to pay out on a older bike as their value is less

    • @CharliesBikerTales
      @CharliesBikerTales 20 днів тому

      Yep, although this may seem odd to new riders who have only ever experienced car insurance, as that correlates far more to engine size. I'm just trying to help spread some awareness for newer riders like myself. Happy New Year! Thanks so much for the comment and feedback

    In the second year, my sons 125 insurance went down from 900 to £400. Then he passed his mod 2 and he got his restrictor kit fitted to his 98 600 bandit, insurance went back up to £1200 a year. Last time he checked, his second year on the 600, insurance is going to be about half.

    • @CharliesBikerTales
      @CharliesBikerTales 20 днів тому

      Yeah it's such a shame insurance is so high, just adds another barrier into encouraging more motorcycle riders. What I have noticed is 2years of license and 2 years no claims makes a huge difference.

    I had one. It was a solid decently comfortable bike. Toured mine around the Southwest U.S. a few times. The downsides? It was a bitch to tune up. Valves adjusts and carb syncs were horrible to do, worse of any bike I'd ever owned, including my '87 VFR. In the US, they messed with the gearing. First was too high, fifth was too low. I still would have another

    • @CharliesBikerTales

    Good luck for the new bike. I bought a 1990 Model brand new and rode it until 2015 for 75.000km without bigger issues. My bike had always problems on cold start after some weeks of no use - could be cured by Iridium Spark Plugs. For dirving behavior a game change fpr me was to switch break lines to steelflex and fork springs to Wirth progressive springs. in 2015 I switched to a Moto Guzzi V7II because of ABS and easier handling (getting older) and recently to a MG V7 850 (back to the old power)

      @ The same drivetrain was used by Sachs in their very pretty Roadster 800. I know two people who still have one of those. Both have racked up very high mileage. The engines are very under-stressed and ultra reliable. Unfortunately the original Suzuki silencers are prone to internal rust and suitable replacements are very difficult to obtain.
