Wow - thanks for the explanation. I am here in Australia & most bushies (farmers & their crew) wear a belt with a pocket watch, tobacco pouch & knife sheath. This was brilliant in the simplistic but versatile design. I have a friend who want to make these for her husband / sons as they are farmers & need to have more stuff on themselves now.

Here is my attempt at the order of operations, if you have corrections please comment below! Order of operations: Cut out pieces from printed pattern, card stock is best but paper works fine as well. Tape strap pattern sections together overlapping at the seam so the strap is 13 5/8” long by 3” wide, then mark your leather and cut out that piece. Cut out either the single piece lid design for less sewing. or the two piece lid for better weather protection with a bit more sewing involved. If using the single piece lid design cut out 1 bag side for the front of the bag. If using the two piece lid design cut out 2 bag sides from your leather. Sew strap to the bag side section starting at the top of one edge working around the bottom of the bag to the other side at the top. Sew the belt loop onto the bag side, or back of the single piece lid design On the two piece construction sew the lid on just above the belt loop on the bag side. Sew the completed back onto the strap you have sewn on the bag front. Punch the draw string holes and thread a drawstring through.

Do you find that the rebar steel holds a good edge? It looks like a great option with the cost of other steels

Very good job! I use a pricking iron on my stitching holes. the drawback is I have to count the number of holes on the front and back to stitch the gusset in. I have used a fold over belt loop, but I may start using the flat style. If you use the fold over positioning, stitching the first row and then folding it over is easy to get it wrong. I have been playing with leather since the 70's. Your pouch is excellent. That should last someone almost a lifetime. I look forward to seeing some of your other work.
