It’s important to note that acrylic should not be painted over oils especially oils that haven’t cured yet or is in thicker layers…. For those who think this is a good idea. It’s ok if you’re not having to paint over it at all, like around the background here.

Have you considered using cradled wood painting panels instead of canvas. It seems like a good idea to me, but I really don't know anything. It would save worrying about the canvas being wavy, And the panels start out smooth. I could look at those tropical paintings all day.

Art class always said never paint the details, always paint the shapes first, helped so much!
