Pekin Robins from fledging to independence 2020
Переглядів 37 тис.4 роки тому
A shortish movie compiling a number of short clips of one of our pairs of Pekin Robins (Leiothrix Lutea) and their first brood of three chicks who fledged on 3rd May 2020. They went on to have four more broods which resulted in 9 more young who fledged! There is no footage of nests, eggs or nestlings as the set up in this aviary (in 2020) was not conducive to obtaining such images if we wanted ...

How do you take precautions to prevent the water from freezing in winter?

Why didn't you show us the nest and the pair building it? And it would have been nice to see the eggs.

Это т.н."китайский соловей" , довольно известная клеточная птица.К соловьям правда прямого отношения не имеет, а скорее ближе к кустарницам или тимелиям.Привлекательны расцветка и пение этой птицы.

My absolute favorite softbill!! The song makes my soul so happy!! To see your success in breeding them is fantastic!! I want some so bad!! Here is USA they are all but almost impossible to find now, and if so are very very expensive!! I could watch this all day!! Love the natural setting you keep them in!! Congrats!!

@@siporritt Have you ever had any luck breeding them indoors even in a larger planted avairy? Or is it like "most all softbills" the outside wind rain, and outdoor environment just does the trick?. I'm soo worried about predators here on the lake. We have eagles, weasel, raccoon, mink, occosianal 🐻bear, I think the cost of building such a predators proof avairy would leave me no $$$ to add the birds!!! LOL.

How "tuff" do you really think they are? Temp wise? What about periods way below zero. Like even -30° zero at night. F. And even -10below F to -20 below F. Daytime. With shelters from wind. A period could last a week or so, before temps in upper 20-30sF daytime. Is this just to Brutal for them? I think most folks below the Canadian boarder probably house them indoors for winter months just to be on safe side.? I k own they can Handel the snow. But our subzero temps can get brutal at times deep winter. Plus I'm afraid that all fruits, pattees, insects would just freeze before they could even eat them in time? And that doesn't include windchill temps. Are they that tuff? Even our local chickadees ect.. look brutally uncomfortable out there, but seem to make it thru it. What's your thoughts on that. Troy
