Lol, your dog wants to play! You love Dungeon Crawler Carl, its always cool to find a series you just connect with! Interesting review and insight! Happy Holidays man!
Yes he does! And yeah this series really hits every positive note with me. Happy Holidays!!
Book six is one of my favorites!
I’m about 20% of the way into it right now! Still unsure about this card mechanic, but I’m excited to see how it plays out!
@OddOdieOnline I get that but I enjoy how they constantly change up the dynamics each level!
Great review, man! You’ve got me intrigued by this series so I’ll be investing pretty soon!
I can’t wait to hear your opinions!!
aww the doggy is so cute 🥰 It's good when a series is so good that you immediately want to jump straight into the next one
For sure! I am terrified of the day that I’m caught up and have to wait for the next book!
@@OddOdieOnline That is a very real fear although the payoff is usually well worth it
Hey Odie! I'm happy to have found you via Kevin Towle Reads. :) New subscriber. I really have to check out Lonesome Dove. I've heard SO many good things about it, and I'm not usually one for Westerns. :) Merry Christmas!
Thanks for joining and watching! Lonesome Dove is so good!
cool video!
Thank you for watching!!
great video, thanks for sharing, documenting these things are important and inspiring
Thank you for watching!
Your dogs are too cute 😍
They are fiends for the limelight!
Very cool video of behind the scenes Odie!
Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing Odie. It was like I was watching an episode of cribs
Haha awesome! Thanks for watching man!
This was a really good one! I am hyped to read the new one!!
Me too! Such a fun series
Great review, man! Sounds like an interesting series.
It really is! I wasn’t sure about the LitRPG genre at first, but honestly I think almost anyone could enjoy this series!
@ Believe it or not, all that wild stuff you described about it sounds like my type of read lol
I’m going to urge you to pick up the first book in the series. I need to hear what you think of this madness haha!
@ You’re on! Because now I need to know about this series lol. Sounds like a blast!
Interesting video and I appreciate you sharing this! As a minimalist, what’s your protocol for accumulating physical books? The reason I ask is because you can’t beat Kindle/ebooks for minimalism.
Well I only buy what I read or have read. I look at my bookshelf more as its own story of my reading journey and it’s important to me that it is complete. That being said, with minimalism, it’s about cutting out the crap that you don’t want / doesn’t bring you joy. Having a shelf of book memories brings me joy, so I’ll always want the physical version too if that makes sense haha.
@ Makes a ton of sense! Appreciate you getting back to me.
This is on my list to read next year!! Loved hearing your thoughts!
It’s an emotional rollercoaster of a book. Be prepared!!
@ Thanks for the heads up!!
I loved this book and I am really happy you enjoyed it!!!
Thanks man!
Delightful review! Thank you for doing it
Thank you for watching!
Reading this in Jan. So I’m choosing to not watch this…but great job and jeep them coming Odie!
Fair enough! Look forward to hearing what you think of it!
I’m so glad you did this review! I’m extra glad you loved it AND pepped me up for it even more since you made that “The Stand” comparison (which I know won’t be exactly like it) but it’s that writing style that I love about switching around of characters. That always makes me that more anxious to see how they collide eventually. And I loved “The Stand” as well. Awesome review, Odie!!
I’m happy to hear you are extra pepped up! I am excited to hear what you think of it man!
I know I’ve already said this but you’ve inspired me to re-read the series next year!!
It’s soooo much fun. I might try to make time to read them again next year haha!
That looks like a very, very comfy reading chair! Circe is on my tbr for next year. I don't think any adaptation of King's work has managed to capture truly the horror of the books but the guy can't just simply end a thing 😄
It is very comfortable! And Circe is an amazing book. I might reread it this next year.
Glad you loved the series. Awesome review, as always.
Thank you sir!
Nice review Odie. Several of is are reading Lonesome Dove in Jan. Eagerly looking forward to it!
Sounds exciting! Looking forward to hearing what you have to say too!
Lonesome Dove is pure gold! You will enjoy the fun ride
Glad to hear!!
Oh that is a nice looking set! Are you going to watch the new show when it comes out?
I had no idea there was a new show coming out haha! I’ll watch it, cautiously. I am not a fan of modern hollywood and the movies/shows they produce.
@OddOdieOnline Same! I am very cautious but I plan to watch it if it starts getting good reviews
Another awesome video, Odie! You are killing these HP reviews big time. Hey, only one more to go, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Book 7!
Thanks for watching! I'm really enjoying the series I almost don’t want it to end!
You are a reading machine!
Haha these books are so easy to get lost in that you end up flying through them!
Very nice, I'm enjoying following your adventures with Harry, hope you enjoy the final instalments.
Thanks man!
@@OddOdieOnline: Happy reading!
These reviews are great Odie. Both your takes but also a trip down memory lane. Your dog LOL! 😂 nice video buddy!
Thanks man! My dogs love to make noise as soon as I start recording every time haha
Thanks for another wonderful review, it's an interesting mission taking on such an ambitious multi-book series, but I love how you're managing it. I really look forward to each new video.
Glad you’re enjoying my videos. Thanks for watching!
@@OddOdieOnline: You're welcome. I love your work.
Very enjoyable review, the Harry Potter books are ok (I think the films are probably better), but as far as world creation goes, Rowling is unsurpassed - a startling achievement.
Wow what a hot take about the films being better haha! I agree about the world building though. She’s great at immersion!
@@OddOdieOnline: Yes, definitely.
Still loving these!! I'm definitely doing a re-read next year!!
Thanks! I would look forward to reviews from you on them!
Thanks for the reminder not to forget whimsy & delight, must reacquaint myself with this series, haven't read them in ages. Really excited to have discovered your channel via Trav. This BookTube is a wonderful lark.
Oh sweet welcome! And yes they are worth reading again for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@OddOdieOnline: It'd be nice to follow one another's bookish adventures?

Thank you!!
Odie you are ripping through these books! Nice review!
I can’t put this series down! It feels like there is always something about to happen just around the corner.
Another great review my brother! Watching these reviews makes me eant to read these books
I hope you do in the future!!
My 5 star!
Haha your very deserving 5 star!
i will have to look into these. also nice to find another Canadian artist
Let me know what you think!
@@OddOdieOnline so i heard half of the party album. so far its pretty good for what it is. not something i would have gone out of my way to listen to but for a modern artist its refreshing
If you haven't listened to the album Bearer of Bad News you need to! The last song on the album "Dear Helen" breaks me every time I listen to it. It is gold!
I love that album too! I honestly love everything he has put out. Great to hear you like him too man!
@OddOdieOnline I know right! He is so good! Glad to hear someone else on here likes Andy
Hi! This is the first video i watched from you. You seem like a genuine person. I was WANDering (you see what i did there hehehe ) what's your favorite movie from Harry Potter? For me, i'm think its " The Half-Blood Prince. " it changes time to time but i really like that one.
Thanks for watching! And I am actually going to go through and have a Harry Potter movie marathon after I finish the books! The movie I remember liking the most was Prisoner of Azkaban though!
@OddOdieOnline I was doing a Harry Pooter marathon too actually what a coincidence! I watched the first movie today (for the 1000th time i guess) Cant wait to see your opinions! Also, Prisoner of Azkaban is REALLY good movie. We learned a lot and know a lot characters. Especially Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and also Dementors.
Awesome review, man! I figured you’d like Goblet of Fire. This is my favorite one due to the Triwizard Tournament and Quidditch Workd Cup but also the huge dark turn it takes toward the end.
I loved the Quidditch World Cup! J.K. Rowling does such a great job of presenting the setting for it too. It was such an easy book to get lost in!
@ Yes, sir, it was! I couldn’t put it down when I read it and I’ve read it 3 times lol
Favorite book in the series!!
The Goblet of Fire is my second favorite in the series, great review.
Thanks for watching! Which is your favorite?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Odie!!! Great video my friend! Secret time: I have never read one page of any Harry Potter book
Haha well if you are looking for a comforting and whimsical fantasy adventure, then you should give it a shot! But I also already know how many books you have on your TBR coming up next year haha!
@OddOdieOnline Haha I know right. I always do this
Love this !
My ranking of HP books as a whole, worst to best: 7. Deathly Hallows (the only one I actively disliked, and HUGELY disappointing after, again, a real-time wait) 6. Chamber 5. Stone 4. Goblet 3. Half-Blood Prince 2. Azkaban 1. Order of Phoenix (a genuine 5/5 for me) Movie ranking: 8. Half-Blood Prince 7. Hallows Pt. 1 6. Stone 5. Chamber 4. Goblet 3. Azkaban 2. Hallows Pt. 2 1. Order of Phoenix (duh)
Interesting, I’ll have to think about my order when I finish them!
4:20 Quidditch was actually one of the things that made people the most angry/disappointed about the original movies. Nowadays, they are just retroactively seen as nostalgic comfort flicks or whatever, but trust me, back in the early 2000s, people were NOT happy about the Columbus adaptations. I, in particular, HATED that all my favourite parts (i.e. the details that make the school feel alive) had been excised. It only got worse when I then watched Fellowship of the Ring a week later - still, to this day, the most mind-blowing experience I have had in a movie theatre, and which made Potter feel ever so much worse in comparison.
Oh wow that’s crazy! I guess when I was a kid I just kinda loved them for what they were because I got to see the wizards on the screen haha. I didn’t realize that they were actively disliked by so many!
Read these in real time, as part of the target demographic (I was 12 when I first read the original three), just as they were starting to get talked about. At first, I thought they were already below my reading level (i.e. 'for babies'). Then I got to Azkaban. And all of a sudden, there was this moment of 'ohhhh...NOW you are writing for me!' By the time the Long Wait for 'Goblet' started (yes, I was there in real time for THAT, too, at the ripe old age of fourteen - I'm old!), I was an unabashed Potterhead, and remain one to this day, over twenty-five years later.
Oh wow that’s super cool! Must have been quite the experience reading these in real time!
I love that you’re re-reading the Harry Potter books!! Now I want to re-read them!
You totally should! I’m toward the end of book 4 and I’m purposefully dragging it out because I don’t want this book to end haha
@ The fourth was always my favorite too!
@@OddOdieOnline I thought about reading them again. Unfortunately I'd have to repurchase them as i donated them when I was forced to move from my home. i wondered if it would feel too childish to read now that i'm in my 30s, but perhaps it's still good writing?
I never understood why only the first book had a different title in the US compared to the UK. I love those covers on them, I haven't seen those before
Very strange. I guess us Americans don’t get big words like “philosopher” haha!
