Considering moving up to Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids from New Orleans next summer. I'm a DJ so literally everyone I know from around the country comes to Detroit for Movement Festival every May (biggest best Techno festival in the world) . I didn't realize how much water I can put a kayak in or miles of bike trails I can ride in the state of Michigan - great fit for me.

My grandparents built a house in the 80’s on Crawford Ave in the McIntyre Landing/Harbor Beach area. We had lake access right next to the channel mouth. My grandpa was the chief officer for the mess on base for years. He passed away in 2004 and my grandma sold the house in 2005. I spent my childhood there, and 90% of my happy memories come from there. It’s been almost 20 years and I miss it every, single, day. Your video made me emotional. Not because it’s sad, but because the lake keeps calling me home. Thank you for posting.

Margrethe has become a favorite of mine for bass and I make a point to fish it whenever I’m up from the Lansing area. As mentioned already, find the drop offs along the weed lines and fish different depths with crankbaits, spinners and swim jigs or chatterbaits casting parallel to the depth lines until you find where they’re hanging out. At first and last light target the shallow flats with spinner baits and swim baits. If you get a few bites keep at it until it slows. Then try some slower baits like jigs and ned rigs to clean up. I’ve caught smallmouth in the shallow and mid depth flats near cleaner bottom and sparse grass and largemouth closer to weedy cover and also on the flats in low light. Plenty of fish in there, but sometimes you really have to work for them. Expect to lose a few baits to pike. Good luck.
