Have no sound...

Mastodon alway should’ve had a full time singer. I love them for their musicianship, and I’m always disappointed in their live singing. None of them want to do it either I’m sure.

Nothing about this band makes sense, it's almost unlistenable

I just realized all the string players were wearing long sleeve shirts underneath shirts. Was this to cover tattoos for tv or something, or just cause it was cold? It’s interesting to me. Anyway this kicked ass.

There are so many musicians in this world who have one of the four or five elements required to make a band like this, and they never find the others. They don't find their brothers.

It is truly fucking criminal how much recognition these guys don't get outside of the metal community. A band like this doesn't come along very often.

The craziest thing, I saw this when it was live and I had never heard of the band, but the part where David says "I'm frightened" (and then Brent makes a kind of funny face) has stuck with me, and I have used it get out of situations where someone says something I don't comprehend. I just give them that look. I had a mild stroke a few years after this aired and kinda "forgot who I am", and there's a lot of cases where I don't understand what someone says to me (like a new co-worker, or casher, etc.) and they are about to assume me to be an idiot. This buys me a few seconds to collect my thoughts and gives a hint of "every thing will be fine, but yeah, I'm a bad ass".

This song has always reminded me of Queens of the Stone Age. Mastodon is so sick 🤘🏻

The problem is I don't think they thought about how they were gonna do the vocals live. They're clearly pushing themselves out of their normal range on the album, but when multitasking and trying to play at the same time as singing, they just can't hit the same notes. Everything else about this performance rocks the instrumentation is spot on, but the vocals are not good.

This performance is not indicative of them at their best. Shame about the vocals because everything else is tight. Props to Dave for giving them this exposure.
