Every time I take my coil off, I apply a dab of dielectical greese to the rubbers.. prevents them from wearing out.

F**k all these repairs. I'm urging everyone to STOP buying ALL Minelab products until they acknowledge that they compromised on quality, that they have fired the people who urged the lack of quality, and that they will never again make such outrageously cheap products. My SECOND coil's ears just simply fell apart into pieces.

A little petroleum jelly or grease added would help, after repair.

I was thinking a bit of dielectrical grease or silicone grease.

Thanks, that was one of the best tips I've seen for the 800, I rarely use the pinpointer but now I'm looking forward to trying this method.

I thought the pinpoint would be where the shaft met the coil, dead center. Thank you.

Waiting for coil which shows visually detected position. I mean you move coil and light dot appears on top of coil. Even you move coil to left, dot position moves to registered position. So you can detect even at night and no sound needed.. Dot could change color based on metal :)

Thank you ! Just came in from first outing with my new 800, spent so much time digging huge holes to find the target. Had it nailed on the old Explorer but it's time for her retirement.

To keep your head phones paired keep the blue tooth pairing on when you switch off the detector before switching on the detector turn on your head phones first then the detector and your phones will pair up instantly

I tried the inner tube but found it to be too thick. I used the plastic lid of a coffee can and cut two washers and it gave the correct thickness.

When I first got my 800, I watched many videos on pairing my ML80's and even went as far as sending in the control housing and phones to Minelab thinking something was defective, but there wasn't. then I watched your video, which was a basic how to unlike all the complicated ones I tried and low and behold on the first attempt BAM, they were up and running! Thank you for your uncluttered explanation on how to do this!

I got my Equinox in January and I have had a heck of time pinpointing because I was told that the Center of the Coil was where the detector marks the target so to speak. So I assumed that meant right under where the shaft attaches to the coil. I really appreciate you sharing this!

I have had to do variations of your fix myself.ML’s answer is typical of engineers that fail to anticipate a problem and will not take responsibility. There are engineers who’s job is to make things less expensive to produce and this was a job well done.Thank you for getting this fix out there.
