I worked at target part time in 2008 to 2013. Those customers were the most annoying ppl ever. This was pre social media! The only time i saw many blk customers was for holiday shopping. The clothes are hit & miss now. But hygiene is the popular thing now. Oh but in 2008 gillete razors were bought with coupons then returned with a full dollar value. 😮

I really don’t think Mr Cooks meant any harm. When I think about how the formulas for some of the other mentioned black hair care has changed, and not for the better; it’s not worth it in my opinion. I don’t trust the dominant society when it comes to our hair products. Have we forgotten about all the lawsuits taking place over the different relaxers black women have been using for decades?! There is something sinister about that. Personally I’m not sure I would want to hinder the integrity of my products especially when I know my people genuinely need them in order to protect our hair.

I remember watching an episode of the Steve Harvey show a couple years ago when Cedric was talking about taking Lovita's mom to Target. And I was like, Target existed in the 90's???!!! I thought it was created in the 2000's. I probably seen that episode when I was kid and had no clue what they were talking about. Once I learned about Target, Walmart hardly saw me again.

I looked at his website to see exactly what he sells ..everthing looks like he buys from China direct w/o any personal touch added - his name is only on 1 of the products w a sticker, but most of his products there is no logo etc... that connects his brand to the product at all... That makes me think no real time or effort is put into the products to make them uniquely to represent who he is/what he believes/his mission - if he has one (i am not a Tabitha follower but i could give a basic overview of who she is/what she represents...and if i look at her products they reflect her...so i assume she sat at the table and gave input into each thing). It seems he is selling off the strength of "ppl like him rn so lets get this bag"...not thinking longevity.

licensing is a powerful tool and a lot of people don't understand how impactful it is. All she has to do is approve the products and collect the checks. He should take seat.
