Chelsea v Southampton 14th January 1967 (Dutch commentary)
Go back almost 60 years - when football was still a common national sport in England. On January 14, 1967, Ben Sies took a look at the London football club Chelsea for the KRO program "Klokke vier", a popular club that then and still now played in the famous Stamford Bridge stadium and had an annual budget of approximately 10 million guilders.
Wow, what a pleasant atmosphere there was in English football back then! Recordings of the match against Southampton were even allowed without any problems!

First game of the season, against one of the biggest clubs in the country, first game under the brand new exciting Roman Empire, on a Sunday afternoon Reduced allocation away support… 😟😕
RIP, Luca❤
We battered Chelsea that day aswell
Absolutely. Was gutted when you got relegated, loved trips up there, always a good day out

Fckn hell
The music is a bit sad there. It wasn't a pretty ground by any means and if you were a bit short sighted it was not good when the ball was up near the North Stand but it was home and yes it was atmospheric alright. £1.25 to get in a youngster in the early 80's and then I remember how put out we were when they put the price up to £4 for the Liverpool FA Cup game in 1982 and they never put it back down again from memory. Oh well 🙄 I saw the price mentioned from the 70's .... 25p!! I might check what the price of the programs was when I was a regular I suspect about the same.
Who was in the Shed that day ?
Brian Dear caught offside....but I remember a year earlier, he scored an own goal to give my team Aston Villa a 1-1 draw at Craven cottage.
Bobby Moore adrift defensively, too often slow, static even. Seemed to be in decline after the 1966 WC triumph.
Those umbro kits were the best
Agree completely, complete with curly collars but we didn't care
I remember 69 about 200 hard scouser tried to take the shed we got hammered the first time I ever saw Eccles my god 54 years ago I was a liverpool skinhead
Was Eccles a Chelsea hardman, maybe a skinhead, Shed top man? Did you get run down to the front of the terrace and onto the pitch?
Hi malthus I remember about 200 of us going in the shed in small numbers with the idea of grouping together then starting the agro what a big mistake chelsea must of known for before we attacked chelsea attacked first I remember the chelsea leader had long sideburns skinhead and wore a green harrington jacket I later found out he was called eccles we all got a hiding which we deserved for we shud not have gone in the shed I was just glad to get out oh my god 54 years ago your liverpool friend Geoffrey Williams
@@geoffreywilliams4266 Amazing story geoff...but yes a dangerous game if your lads were knocked to the ground, then surrounded and given a hell of a kicking,...how do you escape? Four years later, half your number Millwall went in the back of the Gwladys and got battered by the sound of it. Your small groups must have got spotted but also as soon as you hear loud home chanting, signalling a large home mob, then a few could lose their nerve. Never knew there were skinheads up on Merseyside, I always thought it was a London, Bristol and Midlands thing. Do you know if your lads also did attack other home ends around 1969 - 70's when you travelled away? But which ones?
Hi my friend sorry taking so long we just got out the ground most people just went back to euston just too battered Geoff
@@geoffreywilliams4266 Did you have a go and get into home ends at other grounds?
Osgood is good ktbffh
Real fans real passion then working classes who could afford to go to watch there teams. No one cares now days as a football fan money corporate business Tv shame basics truely forgotten.
Remember this game as a kid, being gutted at half time. Sparky coming on changed the game
I believe that was his only goal at Chelsea lol
👑💙🥇🏆💫
Our best number 9. I don't care what people say about Kerry Dixon, he didn't score the kind of goals Jimmy did!
I remember all those players, I started supporting Chelsea when I was 11, I'm 63 now and still a true blue, come on Chelsea.
👍
Gallas?
I was there ! remember Osgoods goals ! those sideburns 👌
A bunch of us teenagers Used to train it from Devon in the 70s most weekends. Loved them days, so much better than nowadays.
Suppose West Spam took the Shed again and again blah blah blah
West ham take all ends then. I'm a chelsea fan seen it
My first away game older brother was saying come on im going chelsea ,my mum was saying no I've heard there's always trouble, i had to decide, i was in the middle of our street with mum at one end & brother the other end, shit i thought i know she's going to kill me when i get home for defying her & he took me, i was 13 in 1980, sure that was the year i just remember we scored last minute, 0- 1 to us,what a day, got on train at East ham & it was packed full of WEST HAM, saw some older Skins i knew & brother knew too & they made room for us,i think they was glad to have my brother on board as he could have a row, just as we were getting past mile end can't remember station, chelsea fans were on the platform, as the train pulled in they wasn't being allowed on too packed with us anyway & they would of been fools to try, As we was coming up to fulham Broadway you could hear the roar coming from the ground as one of the stands away end ? Was close to the tracks, then there was a walk uphill that swung around to the stand, got inside, penned in like cattle in the cages, my brother met a few mates & they said go & get some hot drinks, off i went on the way back they had locked the gate, there was a copper stood there, i was panicking & said i need to get in as my brothers in there, horrible bastards ol bill back then, as he screamed hurry up get in, found where they was & brother gave me a slap & telling off as he was unaware they'd asked me & id gone, then i remember Leo the Lion mascot coming right up to the WEST HAM fans penned in & just waving at us taking the piss, to the chorus of who the fucking hell are you 😂 i was on my brothers shoulders when he said give him a wanker sign which i did & can remember the older fans around me laughing at seeing a young boy gesturing , that's how it was, loved the old bridge as i did Highbury etc, proper old skool stadiums that sadly like my beloved Boleyn are forever gone RIP English Football 🇬🇧⚒
I was there. Still got the program. Chopper signed it for me September 2021. When I go to the bridge I tell people that I saw Frank Lampard score against Chelsea. They ask "own goal?" I say no. It was 1970, then they understand!
Fantastic that's all I can say
My second home never be a ground like the bridge🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Before Santa turned up
This is the Chelsea of my heart and memories. God how I miss that place. Sorry to say it but the modern Chelsea doesn't stir any such emotion for me. Or the modern game in general to be honest.
Where’s the rest of the game (final score 5-5)........?
Your thinking of the 1966 game at stamford bridge 5-5.
@@steve9542000. No, wasn’t in London in ‘66……pretty sure it was late ‘60s early’70s. Mystery……
@@richardl772 I got 17th December 1966 Chelsea 5 (Baldwin, Cooke, Hateley, Tambling 2) West Ham 5 (Brabrook, Byrne, Peters, Sissons 2) A lot of years ago mate, must have been a great game to attend.
Didn’t have much of an idea how to get to the game or home (Luton) but took the train from Darlington (was at RAF Catterick) to Manchester. Watched the game, then luckily bumped into a group of friends from Luton who gave me a lift home. I was definitely care free back then. Great Friday night!
It was my first City game. Stood in the kippax corner next to the North Stand. Chelsea brought a right mob up. Don't go anymore. Due to ludicrous ticket prices, shit sanitized Atmospheres, and silly kick off days and times to accommodate Sky and TNT Sports.
Haha Wisey. Love that guy.
Cambridge still losing in Div 2.
Iconic Moments In PES 2021..
Hughes won that game for Chelsea, magnificent player, the scourge of scouse
corect sparky won the cup for chelsea
Loved that stadium use to jump a train from Swansea with a 2p platform ticket in the 70's cost 25p to get in great days in the Shed and North stand
i think this game was in 05-06 season
Goldbridge is a twat. He's from Birmingham. He should support City or Villa or the Baggies. At the very least Wolves or Solihull.
Cambridge United getting thrashed. Always a beautiful sight.
I will always remember the scouse fan crying.
Was that the day west ham got in the shed about one o'clock when it was empty and claimed they took the shed 😂
1977 I think Boxing Day in the shed they always had a nasty old mob hard area East London.
Took the Shed every year from 66-74 whether Chelsea were there or not 😆
Course you did...haha....you came in many times EARLY....run a few early lot and of course it's fair to say you stayed inside the shed but to my old memory only took it properly ( middle) twice
What did mark goldbridge comment? It just popped up in my recommendations
Came here because of Mark Goldbridge
I've never heard of him mate, what have I missed?
@@STEVEFARKINGGUPPY He's the guy that run the United Stand, a Man United fan channel and he talked about in his other youtube channel that's football that cars used to park behind the goal at Stamford Bridge and I didn't believe until I looked it up! LOL
