Amazingly Easy Steps To Remove A Sponsor From A Football Shirt
HI I HAVE 98/99 BAYERN AWAY SHIRT, HOW CAN I REMOVE CUSTOM NAME BEHIND PLEASE (LETTERS HAVE THE SAME MATERIALS LIKE YOURS IN THE VIDEO) and thanx
Hi mate - we have videos that show both how to remove vinyl and flock namesets. I suspect you are referring to a flock nameset - best video for you is.....
This one - ua-cam.com/video/6kOGseR5rAY/v-deo.html
how could you fix a shirt that has been washed in hot water as the valencia one?
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. Has the colour run due to the hot water or something?
@@wefixkitsyes, when the vinyl from the sponsor stain the rest of the shirt
Hmm - this can be a very challenging stain to remove. Have you tried to soak it in Napisan (or similar). If you'd like to send me some pics on either twitter or Insta - I'd be happy to have a look
Could you try something similar for the embroidered shields that are faded?
Hmmm - possibly, if you can share a picture on either twitter or Insta - I can take a look
I have the all navy Team GB Adidas top from 2012. The Olympic Rings are broken on its think the B is too. Is that something that can be fixed?
Hi there - are the rings and the B standard vinyl?
@wefixkits I'm not actually sure. I think it feels more plastic. Like they are raised from the badge. 3D like. It's similar to the plastic you get on Air Max Trainers the the material areas. That say Air or a Nike Swoosh
Are you able to send us some picture on either twitter or Insta please?
@wefixkits yeah. I will go look it out and send it on. No problem. Thanks for replying. Very much appreciated.
where do i get the pressing pad from?
I use this one - amzn.to/3Vo3S0B
Hi! Love the videos again! I have a 2006 AC Milan away jersey (white) that I applied a DTF nameset. I accidently didn't correctly line up the name. I am thinking of using VLR to remove the freshly heat pressed DTF but afraid it will leave a stain on the jersey (considering it's quite rare). If it's anything like this jersey, I would do it in a heart beat. Downside is that this England jersey is dark so stains won't show that much. My jersey is white... Any tips? Thanks!
Hi mate - by stains, do you mean the oily smear stain that VLR sometimes leaves? If so - maybe really cut down on the amount of VLR you use, mop up any excess,l and keep rubbing any excess VLR with cotton pad to prevent it leaving a stain. Our vinyl removal video should help a bit more too ua-cam.com/video/9tH5EHp9bac/v-deo.htmlsi=09pyM7Cy-IF88VbE
@@wefixkits Yes exactly, it's that cloud like stain VLR leave. From my experience, on some shirts, it dries and goes away, on others if becomes permanent. I do try to rub the excess but I don't feel like it helps that much. Do you use VLR on white shirts? Thanks for your reply!
Yes that stain is very common. It's caused by dirt and grime being released by the solvent. They can be very stubborn stains to remove, but the best thing to do is work on removing them as quickly after they have formed as possible. VLR (sometimes isopropyl alcohol) will dissolve them temporarily, then I put some Swarfega soap on the area and either wash straight away or napisan soak then wash. I'll be doing a video on this soon. Good luck!!
@@wefixkitsamazing tips! Thanks a lot for helping us out! Also I can’t wait for that video. It’s gonna change my life 😂
Funnily enough, I have a shirt with a cracked flock number on the back that I've wanted to remove for years and it's the bruised banana Arsenal away shirt, as worn in this video. The flock on it is heavy though and the glue has resisted heat. As the sponsor, badges etc are in fine condition I'll have to be very careful if trying Napisan.
Good stuff mate. Napisan will defo give it a clean, but for a thick flock number - I would use Alcohol. Check out our video on how to remove a flock nameset
@@wefixkits Cheers, I wish I'd read this reply before buying and trying the Napisan today lol. Still, it smells a bit nicer... Can't find the video though.
Haha - well yeah, at least it's a bit cleaner. Watch this video to see how to remove a flock nameset 🤙 ua-cam.com/video/6kOGseR5rAY/v-deo.html
Hello. What is the size of your heatpress? 38x38 ?
Hi there. The heatpress I use in this video is 20"x15" - 50cm x 38cm
@@wefixkits Thanks, man! Another question... How you print and cut the numbers and letters? I want to star a restore service in Portugal...
Watch our videos meu irmao. We take you through how to do everything.
Hi! I love your channel! Loving learning from your experience! I have one quick question for you: Can you make a video about how to repair VLR/alcohol ring stains (and also color stains if possible)? Thanks!
Hi mate - thanks for your message! It really makes our day when we get comments like these! Yes of course - I am planning to do this within the next couple of videos
@@wefixkits Amazing! Please keep up the uploads! Love from Canada
Great video mate! I have a Chevrolet sponsor I want to replace on an older United shirt from 2016, that isn’t flock though. Would I use the same technique? Also… completely off topic… were you a member of David Lloyd in Kidbrooke about 10-15 years ago??
Hi mate - thanks alot, love it when people get value from our content! Ah yes, those Chevrolet sponsors are a pain. No you need to watch my video entitled "Discover the secret of removing vinyl namesets" - I know it's not a nameset, but the process is the same. In the video I use a special tool that I have made, if you need a set then let me know and I'll get them sent out. Maybe drop me a note on either Twitter or Insta and I can help further. Haha - yes, I was indeed at kidbrooke DL! I'm sure I'd recognise you if I saw a photo! 🤙🤙
Great vid as always
That's very kind of you to say, thank you!
@wefixkits are there some Affordable heat press machines you can suggest?
Where did you get the name and number from?
I bought them. I have some left (kane, grealish and Henderson) would you like a set?
@@wefixkits sure I would love a set!
Can you drop me a DM (@wefixkits) either on twitter or Insta and we can sort. Cheers
but what if i dont want to remove it.... i have two small cracks on deadstock shirt exactly like yours, i know this kind of flock is not easy to repair but,... how to fix it :(
So you have this exact Liverpool shirt? Well repairing the flock will likely not last - if you drop us a note on twitter or insta, we can go through some options?
@@wefixkits same Shirt, i dont use Twitter, whats your Instagram?
What would you paint it with?
I would probably use these - amzn.to/44K8Acn
Nice video! Can you make a video/short on how to remove stains/residue from VLR. I know you mentioned you can remove it with more VLR but I keep getting the same over and over 😂
Hi there - yes of course, we will do this. Believe it or not - this is the third request today for the same thing. The trick to not get it over and over, is to put the shirt in to soak in Napisan (or similar) once the additional VLR / solvent has been added but before the additional VLR has evaporated. Make sense?
Brilliant video thanks mate👍🏻 I've got a VLR smear on a shirt. How do I go about removing? 😩
Thanks mate - appreciate it. I refer to "smear" marks in my videos. My advice is:- 1. Get shirt as clean as possible before hand - ideally Napisan soak 2. Use VLR sparingly i.e. with cotton pads rather than pouring directly on 3. If you have them, you need another solvent I.e. VLR or alcohol - to dissolve them, but they will only remain dissolved while the solvent is still a liquid. You need to put the shirt either straight in the wash (once you can see the marks have gone) or in to soak. Make sense?
The smears I've got are from the VLR. I've applied it without cleaning the shirt beforehand which, like you've mentioned in the video, has brought up the dirt and smeared
Understood. If the smear marks have had heat applied it can make them even more stubborn, but going with the chemistry around smear marks - you need another solvent to "melt" them before then cleaning. The steps in my initial comment should work 🙏🤞
@@wefixkits spot on thanks mate 👍🏻
great video btw! I find vlr can sometimes leave a water-mark type halo on some shirts, any tips for preventing and then cleaning these types of marks off after vinyl removal?
Thanks mate - appreciate it. The mark you mention, I refer to as "smear" marks in my videos. Make sense?
@@wefixkits thanks a lot for this advice, stocked up on some napisan ahead of a weekend of soaking 👍
Hello! Love your insightful videos and the work you put in it! 🫡 Just wanna say though, the intro and outro electronic music is a tad too loud and scares the household whenever I watch your vids. Perhaps that could be fixed/levelled? Cheers~ 😬
Thank you so much for your kind words! They mean so much to us! Ok, good shout around the intro / outro. Let me talk to our production team (the wife) 😜🤙🤣
@wefixkits Just when I thought the days of getting jumpscares and rickrolled were done... Hahaha! I kid, I kid 😝 Oh! The wife is the one-woman crew in the editing side of things. Oops! 😅 Still, I like the random touch of humour / stock videos put into such instructional videos. Does make for a more varied and entertaining view overall. A nice touch there. Tell her that, too! 👍🏻 Will reach out to you shortly on twitter (most probably, with the same handle) regarding some help I need. Hopefully I can tap on your expertise 🫡
Thanks mate - we have tweaked the intro/outro for this weekends video. Let me know if it's still uncomfortable. For sure, give us a shout and I'll try to help - no problem. 🤙🤙
This need to be shared to more people!
Please feel free to share it to your hearts content 🤙🤙
Great video. What was the heatpress you recommended in the vid?
Thanks so much, means alot to us. In terms of heatpress, all depends on your budget. I started with this one and it's still going
amzn.to/44BkoO4
Nice one. I will try the wet towel method on a few of my older shirts.
Go for it! Let me know how you get on. If the adhesive doesn't reactivate, there are a couple of other options.
@@wefixkits Is it possible to order a shirt restoration from you guys?

Really good video, what size heat press do you use?
Thank you! Much appreciated! We have two - one is 38x38, the other is 50x38. I would always recommend getting as big as you can to fit your budget.
Yeaaah

Hello! I was thinking that I could make a name set at home?
Yes sure! I have done some videos on how to do it using Silhouette studio with a silhouette cameo 4 - give me a shout if you need some more tips
Great video thanks! Any tips for removing VLR stains from being a bit too keen and also a big smudged sponsor? Thanks!
Hi mate - thanks for that! Means alot to us! For VLR smears, ultimately you will need to use a solvent to dissolve them again before washing them off. Why don't you drop us a message @wefixkits on either twitter or insta, send some pics of both the smears and the smudged sponsor - and I'll see how I can help you
@@wefixkits thank you! Loving these videos - just getting started with a few shirt repairs and seem to have caught the bug! Appreciate the response!
Careful! It's addictive! 🤣🤣
Amazing video! I recent found your channel and I love it. There is one thing I couldn't find a solution on your channel. Of course I did a massive mistake and put pure acetone on my nameset and yes I rubbed it all over my shirt 😂 obv it has some stains left. What can you recommend me to remove the stains as good as possible? Cheers!
Hey mate - thanks so much for your compliments, it really means alot to us! Now, for your shirt - accidents happen! If you want to add us on twitter or Instagram @wefixkits - send me some pics and I'll see how we can help.

New video will be going live on Sunday 🤙🤙
I’ve got acrylic paint spots on a shirt what’s the best way to get them off please?
I would use acetone on a cotton pad and then rinse with warm water and fairy liquid
The mat/pillow is so essential. Really annoys me that so many people and even shops don't use any protection inside the shirt so details from the front sometimes show through on the back (and sometimes vice versa) I've even had a shirt where the back and front were stuck together, likely becuase they just laid the shirt flat on the press and hoped for the best.
🤣🤣🤣 I know right! Defo gives better results.
Excellent work and very well explained. Love your dedication to precision 👍
Dedication to precision sounds much better than OCD! 🤣🤣🤙🤙
Perfect, well explained awesome job Will
Why thank you! Glad it is useful to you. Let me know if you have any questions.
Can smell it from here. Wash your hands😂
I can't get involved 🫣🤣🤣🤣
Great video, thanks. What use is the lightbox? Is it a worthwhile investment? And also, what was the scraper tool you were using?
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it! Well, the lightbox (which is a light pad with a Pyrex glass tray upside down and on top of it) is perfect to be able to see where the letter is on the other side of the fabric so you know where to apply the solvent. Make sense?
The tool is something that I custom made as there was nothing else that did the job. I sell them for £13 Inc UK postage for a pair. Would you like a set?
Norwich 😍
I know right! We love the Norwich Home and Away that season!
I have 600 Man Utd shirts and maybe 100 national team shirts. Some of the shirts need to be repaired. However, everyone on Twitter wants to do it as a business and never wanted to share any tips of repairing a shirt. I live in Hawaii, it’s too far to send my shirts to them for repairing. The shipping cost alone will be more than the shirt itself. I tried a lot of things and only figured out some of them, and finally you opened this channel and shared valuable tips on Twitter. You are a treasure. Appreciated.
Thank you for your message, it's exactly ones like this that make it all worth it. We believe that, as with all skills - if people want to learn - there should be a means and way of being able to do so. Whilst we do offer our our services, we would MUCH rather people watched our videos and learned how to do it themselves - the feeling of empowerment and achievement is immense! If you have any questions - feel free to ask us 🤙
Great video once again will. You make it look easy.
Ah shucks! Don't embarrass me 🤣🤣🫣🫣😜😜
@@wefixkits 😂🤣
Have you ever tried to remove a nameset from a Nike jersey (2005-2006)? They used this woven like weird material... I tried to take one off a PSG jersey from that season with VLR, and it totally messed up the fabric. The white part turned blue and red, and the other colors bled too. I just wanted to get rid of the old name, but now there's this giant stain and no way to cover it. Trying to find a matching metallic gray vinyl would be almost impossible, plus it would need two layers. Now I'm scared to even take the numbers off to put on a whole new repro nameset, because I feel like I'd just ruin the whole back of the jersey.
Sounds familiar mate. We have a video that shows you how to use VLR the best (important not to use alot and to let it evaporated slightly). You can send me some pics and I'll have a look if you like?
Excellent stuff! Thank you for going to the effort of showing us the whole process of a restoration... bloody brilliant!
Thank you for watching it and taking the time to leave us a comment - it really makes a difference! If you have any questions or requests for future videos please let us know 🤙🤙
I’ve got a shirt that was previously framed and has some hot glue blobs on it that I assume were put on when framing. Do you think alcohol would work on those or best not to risk trying?
My gut feel is that both acetone or pure alcohol should do the trick. Go carefully though and whichever you use, use it sparingly and prob apply with a cotton bud. Let me know how you get on!! 🙏
Hi mate love all these videos. Wish I’d seen them a few years ago before I half ruined a 30 year old shirt trying to get a name set off with a hair dryer and tweezers!
Ah mate - I wished you had too!! Does said shirt still need work done on it now? Or you managed to fix it?
Great work. Some great tips I’ve learnt from your channel.

It will be satisfying to watch the whole process take place, right through to the end result! It would make an excellent mini series 😊
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it! It's funny you say that, as that's exactly what we were planning on doing! We were thinking of starting with United Newton Heath - what do you think?

Ah the Snowflake?! Yeah I love that shirt. Needs a bit of TLC to get it back looking good - maybe we can do a video on how we do it?
Sounds like a plan for sure, would definitely be good to see all these shirts getting there own personal video
Ok cool - we can certainly look to do that!
