Palouse Hills and Steptoe Butte State Park in Southeast Washington
When we left Glacier National Park, we drove west going through Idaho and then into Washington to view the Palouse HIlls. We stopped at Steptoe Butte State park to drive to the top. The road is narrow with no side guards. Scary to drive. But what a view of the Palouse HIlls from the top-well worth the drive. We stopped just before going to the top where the antennas were at a parking place, turn around.

Glacier National Park - Sun Tour by Blackfeet
Переглядів 29014 днів тому
We took a Blackfeet interpretive tour from the east side of Glacier National Park. The tour started at St. Mary Visitor Center parking lot and went west on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Bus turned around a little bit past Logan Pass Visitor Center. It was cold and foggy all day. The tour was fun and interesting. We learned a lot about the history and landscape of the park. On our way to the park e...

Flathead River Float Trip

We took a half day scenic float trip on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River on 9/11/2024 while we were on the west side of Glacier National Park. The river runs on the south boundary of Glacier National Park. It was a fun trip with a few surprises and a few class I rapids mixed in. We saw a mink swim across the river going to the park side,. No pictures though; it was too quick as it surprise...
Glacier National Park-west side

A fall trip to Glacier National Park after the entry pass date was off. The park was still busy, but not too bad. We had smokey skies the first couple of days from the west and cloudy skies with misty rain and fog the rest of the time. This is only the west side of the park. More to come. We drove up the Going-to-the-Sun Rd almost to Logan Pass. We had to turn around before that point though to...

It was 1869, and two steam locomotives met at the site of the town Promontory, Utah. A golden spike was ceremoniously driven into the last railway tie. We stopped here in August on our way from Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone NP to Salt Lake City, UT. It was only open about an hour or so when we got there so we didn't do/see everything. We did see the 119 train leave. Sorry for the wiggles. Gran...

We stopped on a Princess cruise at Victoria, Canada on 9/22/2023. It was after dark when we arrived. We took a night excursion: "O Canada: Night Lights City Highlights." The guide gave us trivia questions with prizes. I knew the first question and won a magnet. They gave out a small goody bag of Canadian items when we left the bus. One was the magnet that you see on the first slide. Some of it ...

They were friendly with the local natives who often traded with them. They had plenty of game to eat on the south side of the Lewis and Clark River where they built their winter quarters. I don't need any ground squirrels, thank you, but I'll turn in any eagle feathers I find. I don't want to go to prison!

I hadn't heard that about feathers until that person said it. Maybe it's out west mostly.

do you suggest visiting alaska in early june or mid june?.

Depends on what you want to seel. The solar solstice is later in June. That was unique for us. You will not see northern lights in June. But you can stay up late and still be in daylight. Longer day to see/do things. The weather was good for us when we went June 20. Chilly, but not too cold in higher elevations. Sometimes even almost hot. Wild flowers were out and so were the animals. It didn't seem too crowded either. I hope this helps some.

Jo's mom had a guitar that I played with some. It wasn't in good shape and I turned it down when inheritances were offered. Nicely preserved equipment. Things preserve well in the desert. I'm staying behind Harold
