In a recent travel experience with Indigo Airlines, I secured a ticket for my journey to Sri Lanka on December 3rd, 2023, at 02:30hrs. The expedition commenced from "Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 1" on December 2nd, 2023, at 17:15hrs, with the first leg taking me to "Chennai Airport" at 20:10hrs aboard flight 6E-6019. Subsequently, my next flight, scheduled for December 3rd, 2023, at 01:05hrs, transported me from "Chennai Airport" to Sri Lanka(CMB airport) at 02:30hrs via flight 6E-1171. My journey took a detour when I mistakenly arrived at ' _Terminal 3_ ' instead of _'Terminal 1'_ for my connecting flight to 'Chennai airport' at 20:10hrs (6E-6019 flight). Realizing my error while traveling between the terminals by airport bus at 15:45hrs, I confessed my mistake to an elderly person who stayed near me inside the airport bus, appeared to be around 55-60 years old. He reassured me, saying, "You are not late; surely you can get onto the flight without any rush. However, please don't stay in the queue. Let the officers know about your issue and try to proceed quickly." As I disembarked from the airport bus at Terminal 1, he handed me INR 1,000/= as a gesture of goodwill, saying, "Keep this amount in case of need." Due to the urgency, I couldn't inquire about his name,contact details or taking a photo with him, but I expressed my gratitude with a hug, saying, "Thank you so much; you are a good Indian." After getting inside to the "Terminal 01 in Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport", I found myself in a predicament, having missed my initial flight. With limited funds and a non-functional debit card, desperation set in. Fortunately, a compassionate fellow traveler named 'Yash Prajapathi', residing nearby, proved to be a godsend. With the assistance of the Indigo Airlines staff at Terminal 1, particularly Officer 'Brijesh' in Indigo airlines staff, I was able to secure a new flight to Sri Lanka at a reasonable cost of INR 4,000/-. 'Yash Prajapathi,' the unexpected acquaintance at the airport, generously used his debit card to cover this amount. I offered INR 1,000/= to my unexpectedly met friend, 'Yash Prajapathi,' the same amount that the old man had given to me. However, he kindly refused to accept it. "I got served myself with a bowl of 'Vegetable Manchurian fried rice' for dinner, spending INR 300/= from the INR 1,000/= the old man had given me. My new itinerary included a flight from Delhi to Bengaluru on December 3rd, 2023 (6E-6608 flight) at 08:35hrs, followed by a connecting flight from Bengaluru to Sri Lanka on December 4th, 2023 (6E-1167 flight) at 10:20hrs. Throughout this journey, my financial resources were meager, with only INR 700/- (the amount which the elderly man gave to me.The rest amount after spending for my dinner) and some biscuits on hand. During the flight from Delhi to Bengaluru, I candidly approached an airhostess, explaining my limited budget INR.200/= asking whether, "Can I have something for eating for INR.200/= with showing my INR.200/= note, as I have only INR 200/-." To my surprise, she kindly offered me a sandwich free of charge, providing sustenance for two meals. After going to 'Bangalore airport' on December 3rd, 2023, at 09:20hrs, I had a layover of nearly about 25 hours. I got through my breakfast and lunch with the sandwich, which was offered to me free of charge by the air hostess in '6E-6608 flight'. In the afternoon, I ate some biscuits I had in my hand. While I was charging my mobile phone around 23:00hrs on December 3rd, 2023, a girl approached me, asking if she could also charge her mobile phone. I assisted her by unplugging my phone to make space for hers. During this time, we engaged in conversation, introducing ourselves. I shared the aforementioned incident with her. Upon understanding my situation, as she left, she generously handed me INR.500/= for my dinner. I requested her name and mobile number, and she introduced herself as Pooja, a 26-year-old. Expressing my heartfelt gratitude, I thanked her for her assistance in my time of need. With a total of INR.1,200/= in hand, I visited the 'SUBWAY' shop located in "Bangalore Airport (Terminal 2)" to have dinner. There, I selected a chicken bun priced at INR 300. The employee named 'Shehin' inquired if he could offer a bun with additional ingredients for INR.360/=. I politely declined, explaining my limited budget until my journey to Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, Shehin kindly provided the INR.360/= bun for the original price of INR.300/=I also inquired about a hot drink, and the 'SUBWAY' staff informed me that Nescafe was available in the nearby coffee shop. Although it cost INR.100/= for outside customers, he offered to purchase it for me at the staff rate of INR.30/= I handed him INR.30/= for the coffee. After having my dinner, I asked if I could stay inside the 'SUBWAY' shop until 5:00 a.m. on December 4th, as I lacked a jacket and it was cold outside. The employee assured me it was fine to stay. During this time, I shared my detour experience as mentioned above. I also struck up a friendly conversation with another employee named 'Harine.' When the time came to leave, I thanked both 'Shehin' and 'Harine' for their assistance, obtained their contact numbers, and left with gratitude for their help in my time of need. Upon entering the airport, I encountered another Indian individual named 'Shelindra,' aged 42, who happened to be on the same flight (6E-1167) to Sri Lanka for a 20-day holiday. I shared my situation with him, and in a generous gesture, he purchased a large bun for INR.300/=, cutting it into two equal pieces and kindly offering one piece to me. Additionally, he gave me a packet of biscuits, and in return, I shared some of the biscuits I had with me. During our interaction, he expressed interest in learning some 'Sinhala phrases' from me, as he was visiting Sri Lanka. I happily taught him, and we exchanged contact numbers. Although our scheduled boarding time for the flight was 10:20hrs on December 4th, 2023, there was a delay due to the unavailability of cabin crew and pilots.As the Indigo airline staff in 'Bangalore airport' told us "They were en route from Chennai, and due to adverse weather conditions, their journey to 'Bangalore airport' was canceled. Indigo Airlines arranged a new cabin crew team and two pilots, also providing lunch with a water bottle,packet of snack and a packet of soft drink for the passengers.We boarded the flight at 15:00hrs on December 4th, 2023, and it took off at 15:30hrs on the same day. I departed for Sri Lanka around 16:30hrs. Despite the initial challenges, the collective assistance and humanity from 'Indigo Airlines' staff and the generosity of "Yash Prajapathi," "Elderly person who offered me INR 1,000/- inside the airport bus," "Pooja," "Two boys 'Shehin' & 'Harine' (SUBWAY staff in Bangalore airport terminal 2) & "Shelindra" turned what could have been a travel disaster into a remarkable and memorable journey.
