    I’m thinking of using the same plastic barrels, but I’m going to fill them with closed cell floatation foam before sealing them up, to prevent them from collapsing in, or losing buoyancy if they get punctured by anything. I’d like to know more about how you connected them to the barge, to hold them in place.

    • @tom_sassen
      @tom_sassen 29 днів тому

      I use a mix of gravity, rope and galvanized strapping. I would suggest sealing your barrels at a colder temperature so that they prevent from collapsing. Foam can leak out and I find is not necessary

    • @traveling.down.the.road56
      @traveling.down.the.road56 29 днів тому

      @@tom_sassen That’s an odd reply, since the foam turns into a solid waterproof material after just a few minutes. Once it’s dry and solid, it can’t leak anywhere and the plastic barrel is just a protective layer at that point. We must be thinking of two different materials.

    gasket number 6 and number 21 are needed as well as 20. if you look at the bottom center they have two nipples kinda. these actually help pump fuel into and stop fuel from backing out. ther number twenty is a pass through without the flappers. there are manuals online or find a merc or clymer manual. if the gaskets were there before thewn they need to stay there.

      tks for showing your mistakes , not many do. better luck next time, boats have a keel, we can use a roller there too, so the weight is on keel, the the chines(sides) dont get all the weight, causing friction and leaning,wood works ok, but overtime it deteriorates, honestly the beams were a bit weak for you project, the wheels were inferior to the weight, yet it might have work great for a while if more were screwed on :) anyways, some we win and some we loose, atleast we learn from our mistakes (school money) hehe..
