This is a 360º VR race recording of our local Wednesday night race on Lake Whatcom in Bellingham (grab and move the camera!). I started at the back, and worked my way up to the leaders who just happened to be our local BKCT junior racers Abbey Scoggins, Ana Swetish and Jonas Ecker who were thoroughly laying a whooping on the 'dults!

    How did you get that v12 up there without touching the rocks with it?

    • @FasterFartherX
      @FasterFartherX 3 місяці тому

      In rocky cliff landing's i'd use a 20 foot rope tethered to the bow, I would then swim to shore and then haul and hoist the ski in and gently set it down on the rocks. If the rocks were particularly bad I might use a sleeping pad to protect the hull. a bit of a hassle - but over all worth the price of admission. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      ideally foot pressure is pretty much constant, but shifts from one foot to the other as you rotate the hips.

    • @FasterFartherX
      @FasterFartherX 3 роки тому

      Nah. I wear a thin neoprene pant, and a splash top most days. "Appropriate" has a lot to do with conditions, and the paddler's level of develop vs risk tolerance.

    Last year I've been using one layer of badminton racket grip- mainly because my palms are greasy after smearing sunblock on my skin. It is soft and tacky and lasted from April to October. The only thing I am going to change is the direction of wrapping- I followed someone's advice to start wrapping form the far end towards the middle so that the hand doesn't slide down- that in fact is only causing more blistering [by the way- don't only see palm calluses but no inner thumbs ones- how you do that :)?] As for the silicone- I will definitely give a try because is thinner [I don't know how'd work with the greasy palms though...]

    • @d1427
      @d1427 2 роки тому

      I tried silicone and it doesn't work- still slippery. My latest finding that is the best- back to badminton racket grip but this time towel grip. It may get rough after a while from the salt water but if washing the paddle after each sortie it will keep it softer. Once in a while I use the car key to ruffle up a bit the towel and make it fluffy [as I do with my badminton racket too]
