Thank you Kirsten. So clearly talent runs in the blood. Such a lovely version of the song. Your father was the reason I learned to sing and play guitar. He was my hero throughout my teens, right back since the first time i heard Into The Valley when I was 10. I got my first guitar at 11, and learned to play by ear listening pretty much only to the Skids and Big Country. Trained my voice belting out Big Country songs in my bedroom at the top of my voice (sorry neighbours). I Had the pleasure of meeting your dad and the rest of the band after their Reading Hexagon show in 1983, lovely people.

A part of me thinks, if only you sang that to your father, maybe, he would have reassesed and regrouped within himself. A greater part of me however believes that the man who wrote these words would have never surrendered to despair. He gave strength to others, i dont think he would turn around and destroy all that by showing he was weak. The sun can still be seen, even during winter time. Im sorry for opening old wounds but there may be something more at play with your father's death.

Well done! I was inspired by this song in highschool. it started me down the road of get my friends together and form a band, and of me exploring further my scottish roots. i love that your version is a much more peaceful and less tense version of the song. thank you for this.
