FiiO BTR5 - update - Amazing… wired only!
Thank U, i also have Quad Driver this review helped me a lot in deciding should I buy or not...
Have the original ls50 kefs i think they are great speakers very precise with pin point accuracy imaging, lack deep base but considering their size thats inevitably, coaxial designs cant be beaten for their off axis performance no need to direct then straight to the listener as they have a large angle of dispersion, if you supplement these speakers with subwoofers youll be surprised with their performance, unfortunately they are not very sensitive and require good amplification to get the best out of them, i have moved to a newer speaker whaferdale evo 4.2 a true 3 way design as i was eager for a slightly larger book shelf that was a touch smoother and warmer as i think im more inclined to a more warm presentation than analytical sound, i guess it depends on the music being played and the mood your in, no speaker can be master of all trades
Yeah, I couldn't really get into the LS50 Meta as much as I love the Monitor Audio RX1 with my setup. It wasn't a power issue since the 8300XP has plenty of it; it just didn't suit my taste. It sounded too thin and didn't justify the cost. Have you ever experienced Monitor Audio speakers? I'm really interested in trying out the MA Silver 100. Another one I am eyeing is the PMC Prodigy 1
I also have the 6000a great little amp with good features, sounds great as long as you dont push too hard then it becomes a little strained with difficult loads, then added the 8300xp and used the 6000a in preamp mode, again a higher leap in performance sounds so smooth and sweet that it make me drift into a deep sleep and now i have the upgrade bug to get a second XP to biamp or use in bridged mono mode, just on the fence on this as i dont need the extra power but it would look sweet and likely have more headroom better channel separation and total control of any speaker. This would likely be my final audiolab lab purchase for the immediate future, im just a little concerned that bridged amps wont give that return on investment and introduce more distortion. Audiolab are introducing their new lineup of 9000 preamps and power amps which are less powerful than the outgoing older models
I'm really impressed with the sweet, smooth, and clear sound of the Audiolab amps, and the amazing soundstage they offer. I've been comparing the Topping LA90D with the Audiolab 8300XP using a Mojo 2 Dac and an Aune S17 preamp. While the Topping LA90D excels in detail and clarity, it doesn't quite deliver the musicality and midrange weight of the 8300XP!
Having two 8300XP would be insane! Let me know how that goes!
Did you run Them in the kefs
does connecting it through RCA really convert the signal back to digital and then back again to analog? have you noticed any playback delay compared to usb-c input?
It seems to be a current trend for brands to incorporate DSP into their devices, requiring analog inputs to be converted to digital and then back to analog. I haven't tested the RCA connection for this reason, so I can't comment on any potential delays
4 is the lucky nmbr😂
For some reason focal doesn't do for me... I've had both of them and sold them . I realized i can get much better sound for the price, specially the clear...
Mind me asking what you got instead?
Eu fiquei com LS50 por 2 anos mais nunca satisfeito com o som ... vendi e comprei um elac carina . LS50 are overrated na minha opinião
Hmm... it looks an 8-pin connection between the two speakers. So I think both speakers are active.
Good shout! I agree with you. I didn't realise both speakers have an amp. That makes sense now!
Thanks for sharing. What cables are needed to connect the Topping L30 to the Mojo 2? My music source is an iPhone, what cables do I need? Is it via Bluetooth from the iPhone to the Topping? Excuse my ignorance. I'm just starting out. Can I also play music on desktop speakers with this device, or is this device only for headphones? Thanks
Hey there! To connect the Mojo 2 to the L30, you'll need an RCA cable with an adaptor like this one: www.amazon.nl/AudioQuest-3-5MM2RCA-STEREO-FEMALE-RCA/dp/B003VJX2F2/ref=asc_df_B003VJX2F2/?tag=nlshogostdde-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=430565391586&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6808184549159304102&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1010351&hvtargid=pla-309635873656&psc=1&mcid=a154005cd01f333286d38b1a1ac309a2 Another option is to get a cable with an RCA on one end and a 3.5mm on the other such as this one: www.amazon.nl/-/en/Amazon-Basics-Adapter-Amplifiers-Speakers/dp/B01D5H8JW0/ref=sr_1_9?crid=22OUK2FFZYMHU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.DIXnbewKIvhjWc1m_gPziFXEC_QyFpUVFUMNc07RskMJX_wUIUsu5C7T4sFZY0N-fH0y0c6HLtJ27Ot-0no-l4ID3n7GMx6H3h--8pCteTGPihHfjYeZBaCD4bZ5kaDDnQi3i3dTyMoABO94sCYSwcF1ixn0-pAxtL3bsFgabReSb80dhEB6GTDf0f1LQS-hL-DFKhmI0QDYQXfi64qEIG04TO7ISJW4MSW5B0Z1yD2jHsm51rR9Z1W6slVMLdsIVUEl9iyZeX1jx4FQaFlP24pfKR8CxNaAPSiDYFYr6O4.YfKLzUoKKhbPbOIHRGY9CAF50qwG6ndp8KhnnjAMLd4&dib_tag=se&keywords=rca%2Bto%2B3.5mm&qid=1725010788&sprefix=rca%2Bto%2B%2Caps%2C102&sr=8-9&th=1 If you want to connect an iPhone with a Lightning port to the Mojo 2, you'll need an Apple Camera adapter: www.amazon.nl/-/en/Apple-Lightning-Camera-Adapter-White/dp/B01DGDNL2G/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1EM01EKBE6ZYU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4sSWehQ-VLeiaSA4jiX8r25KE5dhrcIPvZiC-0dkfMYGxGJHk7Oio_oOWgzz3CGMoWmsecRGUb2lLd5UaldxVhIwW5O2LlUPWcxVY9RITSNRhIpxyndk5wl28IFaspAlwk-4kvtAdVyfau8vs5PjhEltS2AeHhAFbDl_vc_J9ja53DJGvOYPJoFzixVkln90IG0pVwE76_lRzoqkJXytK9QtSggzy4E_i2bGOJU42_SlbBI5vX2Oy-6T4vzruktB2O0fEOVqdBjvYlmFI5iA4cuQvResiYibBd7xCOKgyDY.hyDzd4hzob-oEiiZoMKrAEMqyKo7ib9qIQJz8_DGqSw&dib_tag=se&keywords=apple+camera+adapter&qid=1725010835&sprefix=Apple+camera+%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-3 You will also need a regular USB-USBC or USB-MicroUSB cable to connect the Mojo 2 to the camera adaptor. An iPhone with a USBC port just needs a cable direct to the mojo :)
I GOT THE 800 S AND IS MY SECOND BEST HEADPHONES JUST SLIGHTLY BEHIND MY HIFIMAN HE 1000 V2 , NEVER HEARD THE 820 BUT EVERYONE SAYS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH IT JUST LIKE THE OLD SENHEISER HD 700
I was shocked how off they sound and I can't get my head around it hehe
Several years ago I heard the Denons at a hifi show. I also was disappointed by sound and comfort. Sennheiser, Focal and Audeze all sounded a lot better :)
Massive disappointment for me. However, loads of people seem to love the Denons. I am happy there are options for everyone!
The ie600 sounds better all round than the ie200. More detail, depth, emotional engagement. And beats every other IEM I have (and is built to last). I'm using uncompressed lossless with a variety or sources (inc A&K se180baks lg v60). DACs include Chord Mojo 2 and Onix Alpha.
@@AndrewUA-camhandle yes the IE600 is a phenomenal IEM much better than the IE200. Specially with better gear and high res music! It’s my daily driver at the moment and I use a Mojo2 and Qobuz streams. The review was done with a pair from auditorium which I returned. The pair I have now was bought direct from Sennheiser and I can swear it sounds much better! No more dry sound. Did I have a dodgy pair initially? Hmmm
@@SirMesko agreed
Please give me some advice on replacing the opamp of the balance and the unbalance.
Nice review do you just leave the audiolab on all day with the PC?
I keep it powered on all day. It has the option to adjust the duration of inactivity before it automatically powers off.
@@SirMesko Thankyou mate i was just curious about having a Amp staying on for that length of duration every day

We have M2 and M3 and XM3 and XM4. I agree with your review. Sound is noticeable better on Sennheiser even compare M2 vs XM4. They are really in different league.
Hi, thanks for your feedback :) Yes the M3 is such a good headphone, Hi-Fi, especially through that cable connection. Never heard the M2 but can imagine
What?? 😮 Pin a micro phone 🎤

7:33 Seems to be the biggest problem when used in a revealing system ..they need to be paired with a softer preamp (tubes maybe) or a more less revealing system. Btw,I’m digging the Audiolab 6000CDT ..feeding my Denafrips DAC 👍
When I ran the signal through the Aune S17, the sound became much smoother and more open. I believe that the type of speakers used also plays a significant role. Since this product is targeted at a specific demographic, it's intended to be used with affordable speakers, which may not be as revealing. With those speakers, the sound quality might be just right, but this is just a guess.
GM ☕️💊🥓 Listening …
I swapped the op amps in mine for sparkos and that thing rips, handles my front two channels sounds amazing
I am trying an Audiolab 6000A. I got it really cheap, and this thing is another level! I don't think small amps are what I need at the moment. Got the Kanto Ora + Sub8 installed right now, and it sounds okay, not hi-fi!
Eu tenho mojo original e comparado com mojo 2 eu gosto do som do mojo original mais que o mojo 2... estão vou esperar por mojo 3 com 4.4 mm .
4.4mm would be a dream. However, I suspect the Chrod architecture isn't balanced and I read somewhere there's a good reason for that. We can always wish :)
Tpa3255 and in mono @ 48vdc whole different animal.
Got 2x Fozi Audio V3 mono right here to try. Something in me tells me they won't match the Audiolab 6000A which I am loving right now!
I have began researching these small form factor class D amps and it's nice to hear real world reviews. Many videos just give the positive aspects of them, but I keep thinking there are probably a lot of downsides to them, let alone how they hold up long term. The price of these amps are not just pocket change to someone like me, they need to not only sound good but to last long enough to get a ROI. I see quite a few for sale on eBay and that alone raises questions. Thanks for posting this video
True, I think these amps are a bit of a con and won't deliver sound like we deserve. Better save some money and buy a real amp, like the Audiolab 6000A, which goes cheap these days and sounds like the proper deal!
Thank You For The Review. This Is What I Want To Know 👏
Glad you found my opinion/review helpful :)
@@SirMesko Before I Watching Your Video..I Am Confused Because I Want To Upgrade My Quad To Penta. But For Now, I'll Stick With My Quad..It's Still Sounds Great & Durable Build Quality.
Fiio btr5 2021 connecting to ipod Classic? How? Thanks
These amps are great for say a bedroom setup or in the garage. I have three different brands/models, and these TI amp chips all sound the same to my ear. They are Class D, two dimensional and sterile.
It seems like you're really used to Marantz traditional sound signature which is definitely warmer sounding. Remember, this is class d amplifier, so it will tend to sound dryer/ more neutral than the marantz. I've tried some of these 3255 amps and they're good but synergy is a very important factor. These are not on of those that sound good with any speakers you pair them with. Haven't tried those monitor audio's but the more recent monitor models they're released seem to be more focused in the upper registers so they may not pair well with that amp.
He actually said the Fosi was warmer. Tonality was not the issue. I've also tried quite a few of these Class D amplifiers and they simply don't compare to a traditional, entry level, Class AB amp.
@@danielrodrigues4814 yeah you're right. i continue to think that when you're really used to a type of sound (and enjoy it) you won't like a change right away (sometimes neves of course) I guess it's what some call brain burn in.
70hz hipass class d great Class ab for subs best
@@danielrodrigues4814@danielrodrigues4814 Just to throw a spanner in the works, did you know Marantz top-of-the-line amps are pure class D, such as the Marantz 30. Go figure, but I suspect there is a lot more than just amp class going on. However, I love my class A always hot Aune S17 :)
@SirMesko When a manufacturer can throw more money at a product, generally (not always, obviously), flaws can be amended. I think the problem here is with cheap class D amps. These can be made cheaper than AB amps (less materials, smaller power supply) but currently need good spending to sound good.
Excelente revisão do focal... gostei muito... eu revendi meu focal clear... concordo com tudo que o senhor falou.... parabéns... abraços
Muito agradecido pelas palavras positivas! Abracos!
Unfortunate to hear. I didn't realize these were technically IEMs. I tried my first IEMs recently and thought the exact same as you, the sound was too harsh. I understand from a technical perspective that it's "better" sound quality because you can hear everything, but it's just not enjoyable to me. I order these P50s, but they haven't arrived yet, but it sounds like the quad drivers are what I'm looking for.
@@bryanjenkins8147 hi, good luck with your hunt for a good iem. To my ears the Quads are very smooth, punchy and detailed. If you get a chance let me know how you find them :)
Thank you. The Mojo 2 is among the few audiophile devices which I consider to be far more than a merely incremental upgrade to my system. And I speak from 40 years of experience with HiFi. Yes, it is that good, and for the price its cost-effectiveness is astonishing. And as you discovered, partnered with the Topping L30ii or similar, and you have a sublime combo for a mere £130 more.
Thanks for your comment. The Mojo 2 is a tremendous piece of audio engineering and a must-have for discerning audio aficionados!
Some people said that using IEM, Mojo 2 sounds very similar to Hiby FC6?
I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that as I need more information about the Hiby FC6. What I do know is that the Mojo 2 does not use an off-the-shelf DAC chip; instead, it performs the digital-to-analogue conversion using a dedicated bespoke circuit. I would be surprised if anything using an off-the-shelf DAC chip would sound like the Mojo 2.
@@SirMesko FC6 is an R2R DAC, I think it wouldnt use a chip for the conversion process. But yes, Mojo uses a specialised IP for the process, too.
@@eboboboy that’s interesting I have to investigate now! Thanks for the insight
@@SirMesko Youre most welcome! Dont forget to share your experience here then 😃
Thanks for the honest review
@@Yokai2510 I’m glad you found it useful :)
I have had the Momentum 3 for a couple years now and really rate them. I just bought the H95 and still testing them but I have to agree that the M3 still sound as good if not better than the H95. Especially when you consider the price delta. And for the M3, they have a HiFi EQ setting in the app that dials back the bass in let's the mids and highs come through more. Have you tried this?
How much is the difference in resolution of sound? Between these And did you heard sony z1r?
@@RX-rd4sc when it comes to resolution the source is very important. Good headphones will reveal a lot more detail with a good source. If you are listening on Spotify you might not take full advantage of a resolving headphone for example. Dac and amp also play a role and you want to have good enough gear to make use of high quality files. To my hears the HD660S2 are much more resolving and detailed than the D7200.
@@SirMesko do you think its because of closed back vs open back nature? The difference in resolution
@@RX-rd4sc No! Closed backs tend to be more boxy sounding but the difference I saw wasn’t to do with that, but rather the inability of the Denons driver to play detail. It felt to me like it was missing tweeters if you like. Something really off with the sound. A lack of hi fidelity
Boas viagens
Hi , interesting video, it may be an idea to fit a headband sponge like I did with my old senn hd575 as it didn’t have one at all, also my old senn has thicker Earpad’s, 32mm , so I fitted those to my 660s, and 6xx now they are even more comfortable. Regards mark
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not very interested in modifying headphones.
I got the Chord Mojo 2 a few months ago. I've had several daca before, including Dragonfly red, Cayin ru6, from FiiO... The Chord Mojo 2 has had rhe biggest agfevt across all my IEMs akd headphones. It's brilliant! I wasn't that wow'd by my Truth Ear Hexas or Sennheiser IE600 until I used them with the Chord which added depth, musicality and more.
Remarkable device. IE600 sounds amazing through it!
Also, a detail most people don’t seem to “click with” is that, running power and audio signal separately, is advantageous to SNR, via the micro USB and USB C.
Yes very well engineering in that sense too
Power delivery from mains has always been superior in terms of output, however, it must be noted that a battery provides the cleanest signal due to its isolation in a signal path. Actually bought the Mojo 2 because of your enthusiasm for the sound quality. One can’t deny our emotional connection to music and it seems that the Mojo 2 provides that in droves 🥰
I am very happy to know my review was useful to your purchasing decision! Welcome to the Mojo 2!
Thanks for the review. I own large headphone collection including the Senns 600 and 800s which i adore. However, the 7200 are my favourite closed-backs. Indeed, they are naturally with excesive bass and lacking trebble, but after EQ those are simply SOTA. My 2Cs.
I really wanted to like them but they were not for me. I’m glad you enjoy them so much! Happy listening :)
It's so painful finding a good closed back headphone, I have many headphones but I keep going back to my ATH M50X, I just want the low end of the M50X coupled with more refined mids and highs. Good comparison and review, thanks.
Why is it so painful I wonder?i got the same feeling. The best I have so far is the Momentum 3 in wired mode. However, it could be more refined. Thinking Focals now
Did you get a good seal?
Yeah I did. Once you get used to positioning them lightly on your ears they seal fine.
This is what happens when you give a sennheiser fan boy a different brand to review. Biased from the start. Dont bother doing reviews when you have a conflict of interest.
Easy tigger, I’m not a Sennheiser fanboy, I’m a good sound fanboy!
⭐$800.00 dollars? RIPOFF! Get the FIIO KA11 $40.00 dollars. Top notch AMP/DAC.💲💲💜💛💜
I’m glad you found your DAC/AMP! I know the Mojo 2 is horrendous money in the US
The chord is way better but it comes down to budget (I've got both). Better than the Fiio is the Onix Alpha for around $100.
I am not sure if you configured the sound of 7200 correctly? To me the bass is very important because I am watching movies with headphones and I don't believe open back HD660S2 are good in that regard. They look more comfortable but in terms of watching movies with them they are probably not as good as 7200.
Yes the bass on the HD660S2 is not so present but I found it to be deeper and cleaner than the 7200. Not sure what configuration is required. mojo 2 connected to an Aune S17 is all the configuration required right?
S17 shits all over the a70 pro.
That it does
I do wish the S17 had all the cool features of the a70 @@SirMesko
@@ancientalien815 well, it’s got the main feature, which is sound quality ;) What features did you want more?
@@SirMesko The ability to turn the pre amp out on and off, select which output you want to use RCA/XLR, also has selectable headphone output with volume level memory, a70 has way better volume control and gain stages. Really the a70 only lacks in the sound department. In all other aspects its a very good device. I should have said the s17 shits on the a70 as far as sound goes. Not to say the a70 sounds bad at all. Just not as good as s17.
@@ancientalien815 as you say the A70 is a very well specced device indeed, it’s even got a screen! However the S17 does all I need from an amp. Sound in, magic, sound out :) All the extra features in the topping are bound to divert budget away from the audio components. An S17 with all those features would not cost what it costs.
