      I do have a gaming console; albeit old. It's a PS3. I don't game much. But I did hook it up for testing. It's normally hooked up to a different tv in the guest room just for playing when I'm bored. I definitely saw a great improvement having the bravia 7 in game mode. @@1349LL Well, the good thing is you can always try it. If you don't like the results, turn off VRR. There's not any setting that you can't try. Use their advice to experiment, but in the end, make the settings the way YOU LIKE THEM.

    Great vid, thanks. I noticed you have no fan on the cooler? Apart from stopping moisture getting in the tank, any reason not to add the cooler after the pump (kinda like those guys that use rows of copper tubing to condense out moisture)?

      @@kevinwells768 there are fans on the cooler. I bought 2 each 120vac fans. I think they’re like 4” each. They are attached to the cooler just like on a car radiator. They are between the cooler and the compressor. Being 120vac I have them wired into the compressor switch so when the compressor kicks on, so do the fans. But for many people, the fans probably aren’t necessary, but I wanted them on for extra cooling. But they are there.

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 19 днів тому

      Depends on the project you're working on. The bestarc BTC500DP could be considered a hobbyist plasma cutter. But only in respect to what and how much you're wanting to cut. If you're trying to 1" thick metal.... then yea, the Bestarc is ONLY a hobbiest cutter. If you plan on cutting 5 hours a day or want to adapt it to a CRC table.... then yea, it's a hobbiest cutter. But I use it for work related items all the time. I've taken it to the junk yard and cut up a lot of car parts. As for the air compressor, that simply means HOW LONG can you cut. A large tank lets you cut for longer period of time before the compressor has to refil. A LARGE CFM compressor means it can fill the tank FASTER than a smaller CFM compressor. I use my Bestarc on a 20-30 gallon 5CFM compressor. I can usually cut for a little over a minute on thick metal and longer on thin metal. And that's usually fine for my needs. But yes, this plasma cutter will work with ANY air compressor that has a storage tank. Just a matter of how long you can cut.

    I have 2 125 psi compressor can I hook both of them on a 150 psi reserve tank without any problems

    • @michaelkurz1824
      @michaelkurz1824 Місяць тому

      @@tonywarzecha1750 I assume you mean you run the 2 air compressors together, connected together, and want to add the 150 psi reserve tank to be a 3rd tank. No problem. The two compressors are 125psi. Running together as is, combined, they are still 125 psi. Just two tanks. Adding the 150 psi tank will be a third tank, but it will never be more than 125 psi. And what matters is the size of the compressor, not the tank. Meaning, if the compressors are 5 gallons tanks each, and the 150 psi tank is 30 gallons, they could stress the compressors a bit because they have to run much longer to fill the additional 30 gallons. But if the 150 psi tank is about the same or smaller gallons, then there shouldn’t be any problems.

    I have a metabo 6 gallon 200 psi pancake. I was thinking about adding a 10 gallon tank. All i do is light mechanic work abd blow stuff off in my garage. Is my compressor enough to fill an extra 10 gallons? I have the metabo the tank is what it's called. Pretty badass for a pancake

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we Місяць тому

      @@850CANE Any compressor can fill up any size auxiliary tank. If you don’t run it too long. What I recommend is that you hook everything up, have the auxiliary tank turned off, then fill up your primary tank. When it’s full and shuts off, let it cool down for a few minutes. Then open up the auxiliary tank and let the air equalize between the two tanks. Turn off the auxiliary tank and turn on the compressor again to fill up the primary tank and do this process over again. Basically, don’t try and fill up 16 gallons all at once. Do it in 2 or 3 times to give the compressor time to cool down in between. Once both tanks are full, you can then leave both on and use them as needed. The compressor will kick back in at its preset level, e.g. 95psi, and it won’t be too strained topping off both. Of course, if you live in a cold climate, when you’re done using the compressor, you want to drain the air from the tanks so they don’t condense, create water, and freeze. But do the initial fill up in stages and not all at once. Your compressor motor can handle that.

    Great plain n simple water removal video Mike. I laugh every time I see rows of bare, naked, expensive copper tubing & bottom fittings/valves on someones wall declared "the best water seperator ever". When did engineers abandon finless radiators...1905? Every radiator has thousands of fins (= many square feet of surface area) to spreadout & expose the heat to the airflow to transfer the heat into the air! The 1st time I saw a DIY system on a 7 hp/80 gal. air comp. to battle sand blaster clogging, was on Chevahaulic YT channel, where he used a big cars AC condenser, cleaned internally & installed in his air sys right after the comp. head, problem Solved! Without cooling the vaporized water/steam passes right through a water seperator, to cool later where we Don't want it to! The most comprehensive 3 part series I have found on YT was by engineer Doug Kronemeyer for a hobby sized system slightly bigger than yours. Details of how & why for each step he did in his full system for bone dry air in Florida! Thanks again Sir! Paul from S. Central Tx.

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 2 місяці тому

      @@john005_ thanks for the feedback. With apple’s ability to efficiently utilize solid state drives as ram, I recommend getting 16gb with the standard 512gb SSD. Whether you get the newer M3 or even M4, the 16gb/512gb will work. Use the 512gb basically for the operating system and apps/programs. Use the money you saved on more ram to put in a 2TB NvMe external fast hard drive. (Lightning port compatible). It is as fast as my internal ssd drive. Use this drive to put and save all your files. Docs, music, pics, videos, spreadsheets, pdf, etc. I keep my internal 512gb at about 400gb to run all my operations and as the ram assistance. I also connected an additional hard drive, (standard usb external I had sitting around), for all my mirror backups. Don’t need speed for that. The only advantage of a PC is that if you don’t get enough ram initially, you can add more. But with Mac/apple being able to efficiently use the SSD drive for ram (and it’s fast), you can do well with 16gb. I don’t recommend 8gb because you will be using the SSD as ram almost continuously. But with 16gb of ram, the SSD is used to help ram only about 20-25% of the time.

    Do you have video on how to turn a propane tank into an air tank?

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 3 місяці тому

      No, but a video isn't really required for this. It's really easy. Just need a pipe wrench or a wrench that will fit the existing propane valve. You'll probably want a length of pipe to fit over the handle of the wrench to give you leverage. (It will be on pretty tight). And a way to hold the tank so it doesn't spin. Use your imagination. example: Ratchet strap it to a tree, or put so heavy rebar through the holes in the hand of the tank and brace it. etc. Then when the valve is out, simply fill the tank with water til it overflows to get any old propane and fumes out. Then just use regular pipe male and female to adapt an air compressor coupler to the tank. I put an on/off ball valve in line so I could fill the tank and disconnect it for portable use. There are some videos out there, so I didn't make one. But it's quite straight forward and easy. The hard part is holding the tank still so it doesn't try turning when you're using a wrench and pipe leveraging to unscrew the propane valve.

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 3 місяці тому

      True; as an RF engineer I deal in "DB" gains all the time. The thing about sound, is that there are other factors to consider besides just the volume. Frequency is the biggest factor. A high pitch sound at 70db can actually "FEEL" louder than a lower pitch sound at 73db. But you are correct. A 3db drop is significant; but with my adding the 2nd filter it also changed the frequency of the sound, so it actually was a double benefit.

    Wish I would have seen this before I purchased my “regular” Mac Mini. I need it for light video editing, graphics for print usually 600DPI files. When deciding which one to get I came across a fork in the road with the Regular and the Pro at the 1299 price point. The decision was either the extra 8 gigs of RAM vs the faster GPU and 8 gigs less RAM. Both have 512GB … I chose the regular one because of the extra 8 gigs or RAM. Maybe not thebest choice but I think it will work for me. Apple M2 with 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 24GB unified memory <- the tie breaker 512GB SSD storage 10 Gigabit Ethernet Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI port, two USB-A ports, headphone jack $1299 Vs Apple M2 Pro with 10-Core CPU 16-Core GPU 16GB Unified Memory 512GB SSD Storage' 16-core Neural Engine Four Thunderbolt 4 ports Two USB-A ports, HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet, headphone jack $1299

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 3 місяці тому

      I'm sure you'll be happy. But some clarification in case you have a friend who has similar needs. The M2 Pro has many added benefits. The 16 core "Graphics Processing Unit" is much faster with graphics than the 10 core. Also, the 4 thunderbolt ports are almost a must nowadays if you want a quality 2nd monitor or high end single monitor; also the thunderbolt is necessary for a high speed external hard drive. My NVME external 2TB drive is "AS FAST" as the internal SSD in the Mac Mini. But it would never be that fast without the Thunderbolt port. You could buy an external thunderbolt hub to add on, but they are expensive. Finally; the 24gb of memory.... well, you're not really going to notice it over the 16gb. There is a big jump between 8gb and 16gb, but that's where it stops. That's because it's "Unified Memory"; meaning, it combines the RAM with the SSD hard drive to also be more memory if needed. So I just my 512gb SSD only for the operating system and the apps/programs. ALL other data, docs, files, photos, videos, music, saved games, etc. are all stored on the external 2TB SSD NVME drive. So the 512gb SSD and the 16gb ram will always be more than enough. You'll almost never go past 16gb of ram; and if you temporarily need to, the 512gb drive covers just fine. But you will be happy with your choice I'm sure. My opinion may help some others, but that's not saying your choice won't work for you. If you have more than a 1gb internet connection, the 10gb network card will come in handy. I only have 1gb, but if I get more than 1gb some day, I can buy a thunderbolt/USB-C network card that does 2.5gb for $28. (Again, thunderbolt/usb-c is the future).

    Does the table have to be grounded to Earth?

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 4 місяці тому

      It's not a matter of "grounding". Let's use a different phrase. (RETURN PATH). The reason I prefer that phrase is because some welding, like Gasless Flux Core uses DCEN (DC Electrode NEGATIVE). Which mean, the flux core wire is NEGATIVE, and what many call a ground clamp is actually the POSITIVE. Regular Mig usually uses DCEP. (The wire is POSITIVE). Stick welding uses EITHER depending on the stick. So, to make it simple, we'll say "RETURN PATH". The electricity goes through the flux core wire, into the metal being welded, and the metal is connected to the CLAMP "RETURN PATH" back to the welding machine. If you're working on FLAT pieces of metal, it's sometimes easier to make the entire table the "RETURN PATH", because a clamp is difficult to use. That's why in my videos I show DIFFERENT "Return Paths". The welding table, sometimes a regular clamp, sometime BOTH". Hope this explains better.

      It would be best to get a 10 gauge cord. 12 gauge will handle 20 amps. That’s the wire throughout your house. 12ga on 20a breakers. 14ga on 15a breakers. But extension cords are braided wire and not solid like the wires in the house to the outlets. So I r3commend a 10 gauge wire extension cord. That will work. On a side note, if you buy one on amazon, it will probably say it’s 15 amps, but that’s the TYPE of plug on it. A 120v plug that does not have the sideways terminal. If it’s 10 gauge wire it will work fine for the welder.

      There are plenty of them. The one I’m using is made by THB model W80. Comes in 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2” npt

    Good video!! I just got a mcgraw 29 gallon and I was going to sell my 20gal mcgraw but maybe I’ll use it as a reserve tank. Do you think that would be too big of a reserve for the 29gal? Thanks.

      That will be fine. Make sure you check out my other video in-depth on putting the aux tank after the regulator and why.

    Just bought the 29gal McGraw, and definitely need to add an aftercooler. I noticed on my 29gal (bet yours is the same) they moved the drain valve near the front for easier access, but it's actually a design flaw since now the valve isn't actually at the lowest point of the tank. After looking at it, I opened the valve until no more water came out, then I leaned the compressor, and more water drained out, just something to keep in mind, I'm going to make a video showing it shortly. I like your air filter mod! Thanks for the video!

      I definitely like using the after cooler. And with the water trap BEFORE it enters the main tank, I get basically zero water in my tank. All of my desiccant beads in my desiccant dryer inline of my hose all stay blue now. I use to have to dry or replace the desiccant beads about once a month. Now, it's 3 months later and the beads are still blue.

    Thanks Mike, great review. About your hub though… isn’t it supposed to go UNDER the Mac Mini (and flipped upside down from how you placed it)?

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 8 місяців тому

      Not sure what you mean by flipped upside down. The bottom of the hub is black plastic. It would look terrible. As for over or under, there’s no right or wrong. I like it on top because it weighs less, and made of lower quality material, than the Mac mini . Don’t want the heavier item on top. Plus, I have the two sitting on top of a laptop cooler. Helps keep it cool.

    • @JackieFrank
      @JackieFrank 8 місяців тому

      Interesting. I double checked the product photos and that black plastic is actually the top of the hub (and you place the Mac Mini on top of that), but I understand where you’re coming from. Makes sense too. It probably does not matter from a functional perspective. Thanks for explaining!

    good reminder thanks. quck question if I may got a welder missing ground wire, I didnt have #6 or #4 wire but I had 4x 16agw (they are insulated individually) so i ran 4 of them together as "one" wire and wired up at their ends, my question does that gives me of an equavalent lets say #4 wire, I mean 16 dived by 4 is 4. is my math wrong? thanks

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 8 місяців тому

      Yea, it doesn't work that way. Doubling only reduces by a factor of 3. 4 each 16 gauge wires twisted together comes out to equal 10 gauge. If you have some lamp cord, extension cord, etc that is 12 gauge wire, then 4 of those together would be 6 gauge. Here's a link to a simple calculator so you can figure out what you need. www.wirebarn.com/combined-wire-gauge-calculator_ep_42.html. Also, FWIW the cheapest cable for such a thing is to go to harbor freight, walmart, or similar and buy some 4 or 6 gauge jumper cables. Put on the right connectors and you're good to go. 16 feet of 6 gauge jumper cables is only $18. If that's too much, you can spend $13 on 12 feet of 8 gauge. Put the pair together and you have 5 gauge.

    Hey I'm curious what two monitors you use with your mini. The pro displays are so expensive from apple I want to know if its possible to achieve similar quality with other monitors. Thanks!

    • @DIY_Mike-rm5we
      @DIY_Mike-rm5we 8 місяців тому

      I was using 2 27" Asus monitors. But I changed out and now I use 1 single monitor. It's an MSI MAG401QR, 40" Gaming Monitor, 3440 x 1440 HDR. Same real estate as 2 monitors but much more flexible, easier to multi task, and better resolution.
