My channel is more or less just documenting many of the two wheeled races I do. There's alot of unique moments such as tortoises, crashes and almost crashes, and riding the wrong way on course to help a downed rider.

Very cool, what class are you in?
Very cool, what class are you in?
steering stabilizer bro for the dez
I only used one once and it was on a borrowed bike so I can't really say for sure if it helped. Really all I need is some suspension tuning, to help keep the weight off the front a little better, it'd cost less too.
So after watching it all the way through…. Mind me asking what bike, run a rekluse or modified fly? What is your setup, happy with it?
It's a 2019 350 exc-f. Only performance mod is a exhaust endcap, everything else is for protection like skid plate and radiator guards. Its a dual sport so the flywheel might be heavier than like the 350 xc-f, and the engine is choked down alot and probably tuned different, it definitely has a lot less high end power, but it likes to tractor at low rpms better. I personally love it, but as with anything it comes down to personal preference as well as getting used to the setup you have. I raced my dad's 2018 350 xc-f a few times before I got mine, and at the time really liked that setup, but since getting used to my bike I hopped back on his once and didn't feel as comfortable on it. I also raced a crf 150r for a few years, completely stock, and those bikes do not tractor at all, easy to stall, and love high rpms. I looked into getting flywheel weights but didn't. Rode that bike at the Rev limiter most of the time and learned to make it work for desert racing and i learned some hard enduro techniques for riding on rocks and logs with that bike. Since changing bikes my riding style has changed too, I hardly find the Rev limiter anymore.
Great ride! Fun to see the course and some of your lines were sweet.
Chet, you sure did an awesome job on my loop 1. The speed you had in the giant sand wash was unbelievable. And you made pretty quick work of my nasty canyon too. Most impressive!
Thanks, and thank you for making such a fun course, I liked it alot, the canyon was alot of fun. I kinda scared myself at the end of the sand wash and almost went down hard, still can't believe I didn't, but I love when good fast sections like that are included in a race.
@@Shultzchet I'm glad somebody liked it. I got a couple of "F.U."s from a few folks, but my wife was working the finish and she reported that most people seemed to actually like it.
Not good steering geometry. Please fix.
Dude, you were flying! I kept wondering when you were going to pass my slow ass. How much time was there between the expert and intermediate start?
Thanks! It was almost 10 minutes between the starts.
@@Shultzchet that makes you about 8 minutes faster, whew!
thanks for catching the wheelie, scared the shit outta me!
It scared the shit outta me too.
@@Shultzchet 🤣my bad
Dude I don’t know how you ride that fast in the dust. Can’t believe you solo’d 7 laps!
To be fair I started the 7th lap at about 11:15, I think I just missed being lapped by the leaders.
You racing this weekend??
Almost 50 years since I hit every rock in the desert on my 73 Elsinore. Seems like only yesterday!
What A Great Video! Kinda Like Virtual Reality For An Ol' Man! Is It Unedited? I Was Wondering How Far You Travelled In 27 Minutes. I Always Wanted To Ride In The Desert. Thank You.
Yeah it was edited, otherwise it would have been a hour and a half video, I had to cut it down and try and pick the better sections, but as far as video stabilization or color correction it is unedited. The race itself was probably at least 35 to 40 miles, so this video probably showed about 10 to 15 miles of riding
That chest mount makes the course look BRUTAL!
It was pretty brutal, the whoops were massive, and they were killing me on the dual sport bike. I'm amazed I held off some of the expert riders for as long as I did at the beginning there.
Good ride!! I miss the racing/riding. RideOn, Brad Badgers MC
Jesus’s don’t ride backwards in a race ! Could of killed someone ,I’ve been in a head on collision from someone just like this spent 2 months in icu!!
If I kept going forward it would have been at least ten minutes before I got to another person with a radio, this way it took less than one, and less than five for the medical crew to show up. I stayed off the trail when I could and tried to make myself visible.
Fun Video, Thanks for stopping for that rider. Good Karma. The kid on the 125 with a lot of hair hanging out was having a blast. I was sitting at the bottom of that little hill on the second loop were you tipped over.. Thanks for posting.
That's me right in front of you at 26:02 lol. Front tire went flat, I could feel my sidewall folding as it kept washing out. Almost high sided on camera haha! I'm about half way through the video right now. Nice job on 62nd OA btw, you were absolutely on rails that first loop. Good on you and mad respect for helping that downed rider. I finished 55 overall so I imagine I'll catch myself again in the video at some point x) peace
Yeah, you were tough to pass that first time, then you passed me on that downhill the second loop and I stayed with you until the tunnel but then the heat was starting to get me, that next loose rocky uphill I fell and was having a hard time getting going again.
@@Shultzchet Just got to 35:03 right as you replied to my comment, trippy haha! That line I took to the left was kind of a gnarly drop! & it was a hot ass day. I started to really kind of get hit with that with about 10 miles left. Stoked I started figuring out how to ride with the flat front though, I always liked to run it pretty low but damn that was tough in the rocks xD
You ridin a 450f? 350f?
@@DirtBikes_MathGarden yeah, right there I just melted my new pants and burnt my leg, everytime I get new pants I immediately melt them on the exhaust, it's super annoying.
@@DirtBikes_MathGarden 350, the exc, so the muffler is really plugged up and the pipe gets even hotter than a normal 4 stroke.
You’re a great rider man, that was extremely cool of you to help that guy, you passed me right at 17:20 you were flying!
You were doing pretty good to, me and you were going about the same speed right there and then I had to step out of my comfort zone to pin it to pass you, I was a bit worried I cut you off.
@@Shultzchet thanks man! And that was a clean pass! All good, I’ll have to come say hi next time I see you on the line, happy trails!!
Great sportsmanship. Can’t believe you came back to a 3 hour finish for a 62nd overall. You were blazin.
You were haulin! Maybe you needed the slow start.
Looks like a blast. My boy ended up with a DNF on the 85 class. He ran out of gas four miles from the finish.
Good ride!
Thanks!
Nice ride, you passed a lot of guys 👍
Thanks!
I slammed right after that second checkpoint
how long did it take you to finish the 1st loop? I understand they are like 40 miles long. I want sign up for the February 28th race but I've never done one before.
Usually the leaders do it in just under an hour, I Usually do it in about an hour and a half, it can sometimes take people 4 plus hours, but most people finish in less than 3 hours. Here's a link the the results page, www.moto-tally.com/d37/desert/Results.aspx
@@Shultzchet Thank you. The vid is awsome! I'm going to set my goal to finish the 1st loop in 2 hrs.
@@BlackRhyno17 good luck and have fun
How’d u get away with Helmet mount?
I just showed up with it on my helmet, I had the stuff for a chest mount in my backpack incase they said something, but they didn't. It's also how I got away with an orange number plate for two years even though a white background is required. Insignificant rules like this im just going to break until an official tells me otherwise, I mean it's not like it's an illegal part on my bike thats improving its performance.
@@Shultzchet awesome man agree 100 %. Didn’t know if they were actually checking or not. Sounds like out of sight out of mind. Thnx bud
@@Shultzchet Orange backgrounds are a lot faster than white ones. The flat tire was karma for the orange background.:) Joking, these races are for fun. I have had guys stop in the middle of a race to get my bike off of me after a crash. Desert riders, good people.
@@randerson7761 damn, this was my first race back on the white background though. Yeah, alot of desert racers are good people, check out Forildo Fanatics, me and him both post videos of the races and have been mentioning each other when we see the other in our footage. Check out his video of the Invaders hare and hound, shortly after the start there was a guy that went down and in his video you can see me riding backwards to get one of the flaggers that have a radio to call it in, then I waited with the down guy until help arrived.
Where is your camera mounted?
Under the visor.
Im sure that rock felt good, grew up riding in barstow 😂🤘 you must of passed 100 dudes an make it look easy
👌
🤙🏻
Nice
I'd run a 15-44 gears in my xr600r ,ride with legs tucked in and bark buster !
Bottle necks are great places to pass many riders at once !
You should be wide open here top gear ,sounds like 4 gears and not wide open ? Should be doing 80 90 mph
That little honda 150 only tops out at like 60mph, and you gotta really scream it to get there. Its loud for a little bike. That and I'm not maxing it out because I cant see and dont know what's coming and it's got little wheels and a short wheelbase so it's pretty unstable so if I catch a bump I wasnt expecting it could go south quick.
One tip I've used is watch for someone doing the flying W danger ahead ?
I think it's best to come from behind and pass everyone
I think I was behind you. Nice run btw
Thanks
A 2 stroke desert bike with Buckhorn handlebars? Oh well I ran the desert on a Triumph 500 with flattrack bars. It was a Factory FLATTRACK racer(don't ask) with fenders and lights with a compass on the gas cap and a topographic map on the tank. Oiled Filtrons circa 1978.
Oops just noticed. Those are some Efficient looking Pro Taper bars! What a great design!🏁😁
I just rewatched the video for the first time in a few years, and damn that thing does sound like a two stroke. That was my old honda 150.
I just did,DAMMIT
Damn sorry that happened brother.
It's all good, makes for a good video. Besides people would rather watch crashes then an hour of an amateur rider.
Nice riding man!
