Not just his music and the meticulous, methodical way he works, but this video and his love of utilitarian objects made me take an interest in them as well. An absolutely fascinating extract on this programme, about Alan’s collection of these objects. You are lucky, Al. I like your medicine cabinet with the instruments in it, I wish I could get something like that, very interesting!! (Couldn’t even get a rusty old heap, me!!). His music inspired me, Recoil, especially Unsound Methods, and I love the album cover. That’s when I started noticing these objects as something more than just an object. Fascinating art. 🛠️

I think Steph must be a devoted fan, you have many videos and they are all good quality. Where you there when these recordings were filmed? Thanks also to the individual who pointed out that this video was recorded the end of 1982, the year my beloved Alan joined. I wondered when it was, - and Alan is warm and friendly, he kissed the girl on the boat, when they were getting on, going down the stairs. I knew it must be London, there are no red buses anywhere else, unless up north, that I didn't know about.
