Can you use a weboost antenna on this booster?
Great video! I liked the longer format and all of those magnificent shots and you definitely put in the hard work get them just right:D There is a shot that i miss though, the shot of bacon frying! Safe travels on your fall adventure and i'm sure that you will get more magnificent compositions to share!
Thanks John! And plenty of bacon frying coming to the channel soon!
Finally i get to do 4 nights out of my truck. Because of your videos, you did the homework for me. I’ll be getting the Joulle Kettle pot and the Outin espresso maker. Thanks
That's Awesome! Glad you're getting to get out for a few days. Have a great trip 😀 the OutIn has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of kit. I've been using the joulle to heat my water for the OutIn, and have had great results.
@@rileyclarkfineart Do you know where Quincy, CA is? North Tahoe National Forest. Oct 4 and 5 is a college rodeo where you maybe interested in getting some cool early morning outdoor animal shots. @ Feather River College. Im working at it and can make you welcome around some nice spots. Place to stay IS PIONEER RV PARK.
Great review Riley. Perfect addition to the van.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to using this more! I appreciate the support
One thing is certain in this world. Coffee is delicious 🤫
Couldn't agree more.
When you get right down to it, space is a premium when you spend lots of time in small spaces. Percolators do make the best coffee though. If this almost as good and the space saved gets you a couple of extra batteries for the drone or another lens for the camera, then it may make the trip a little more productive. Great review!
This is the exact thought process I go through any time I think about adding something to the van. What will it add, and what will it take away. Like I said, a good ol percolator is hard to beat when out camping. Thanks for the support John!
TY , lookz like a great espresso making gadget for a GOOD morning!
It definitely elevated my mornings this past trip! Gotta have my coffee lol
What is the point of use induction? actually is better than gas or other fuels… If you are outdoor you need to use charcoal or wood
I cook over open fire as often as I possibly can. Obviously fire restrictions can cause issues there. That's why I like this system. Portable, small, and works great.
How much did you invest initially?
Kind of a hard one to answer straight forward because there are a lot of factors and avenues to look at. I would say to not focus on how much, but focus more on investing in the right things. Early on I rented a lot of equipment and I still do today. I also focused a lot on learning and developing new skills at the beginning rather than buying the flashiest new gear. To give a more straight forward answer, my initial investment was dedicating my time to it. As the jobs grew, the investment grew.
Thanks!
Thank you for the support! Good luck on your journey 🙏
Great video very thorough and detailed. I would note however you can get the exact same unit branded under treeligo for $500 from eBay instead of $2500 for the S1 that appears to be just rebranded
Thanks! And this isn't a rebrand or anything. This particular unit has been developed by Nomadic innovations team of engineers in house. Yes there are more inexpensive options out there that would work well too, but the warranty and quality parts sourced by nomadic is worth it to me
People used to do this to get away from other people. Not use it as content on the internet. The woods are ruined lol
Thank you finally an honest review😊
Ah, this reminds me of some of your first videos, and i like it! Traveling, camping, cooking, and the magical photography! For once, your video popped up immediately (well, 2 minutes) after you posted, which is rare, even though i am subscribed. Looking forward to your future work:)
These algorithms can be funny at times! Glad you enjoyed it John. It was nice to get back out in the field for a change! We are heading into my busy photography season so should see a lot more content like this.
What tools/tactics do you use to find your favorite camping and photography locations?
Jet boil is definitely a great stove. I do use cast iron on my induction cooktop regularly. Great video though. Keep it up!
I have since used cast iron on the induction and am happy to say I was wrong in this video. Definitely works great! I just love my JetBoil system and have found some really nice tools to go along with it which make my van camp cooking setup great! Thanks for the support!
Absolutely STUNNING!!!!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words and support 🙏
So pretty 🤩
Thank you!
❤
Absolutely stunning
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words and your support
I’ve been cooking with cast iron on induction for years!! It’s like the perfect combo!
I have tried it myself now that a few of you brought it up and I was presently surprised how well it worked! Thanks for sharing
Nice thumbnail!
Thank you for the video, so basically the installation requires a door mount, very likely on the same door? Does opening and closing the installed door have any issues on wiring?
I havnt had any issues. I was able to route the wires Inna way where they open and close with the door. I would suggest ideally this unit is on the door on the same side of your power. That way you can use the rubber wire loom the door has for the tail lights, ect. This would be cleaner then how I installed it, but since my van was already built out, my hands were sort of tied
Helpful🩷🤙🏼
Beautiful!
Thank you!
neat! but your dog knows something is outside be careful!
heat pump also, or just ac?
Just AC unit right now. Not sure if Nomadic has plans to expand to heating, but that would be pretty cool if they did with a future generation.
@@rileyclarkfineartwhat’s the ballpark daily power consumption on a 100° ~ 110° day?
Kind of a loaded question because there are a lot of factors that can help and effect the performance. On max cool mode it will run at around 60amps and in eco mode it will run around 30 amps. This draw will more than likely be constant during the peak heat of the day. During the cooler times, the unit will cycle on and off which helps save power. I made a follow up video to this one showcasing how I personally used it when it was 115 outside and cooled off to around 90 at night. I ran it on eco, kept it 76 degrees over my bed area, and only used around 25% of my bank which equates to around 150 amp hours. I also had starlink running and equipement charging so that number is skewed.
Get the 10lb propane tank and the holder to add to you're vehicle, we also have the long hoses to use with the jetboil and blackstone griddle
This is the exact setup I'm thinking of doing! Thanks for sharing
EcoFlow support is terrible. When your wave stops working- which it will- they do not help!
I quit induction as fast as it ate up my power bank. Thanks for the video.
Yeah not a big deal if you can dedicate power to it. But I ran into the same issues, and with the other demands I have on my power system, it wasn't worth it
How big is your battery bank?
600 amp hours
Car ac will be 3kw run by the car engine when engine is on. Wave 2 is 0.5 kw in cool mode. Not equivalent. You need complete outside shading of roof and windows to make it work. Totally sun exposed van, wave 2 will not cope, but that is not the purpose. In off the grid mode wave 2 will also need to be power saving, so shading is key
Grayl and guzzle
I have the R1500, no problems, works like a champ. It's a very good value for the money.👍
For some reason, Bluetti has gone mainly with the app for all of the new power stations. My main unit is the AC200MAX, and although the app is nice, you can get to everything via the touch screen, which they are abandoning for the replacements. It's definitely a case of if i would have just waited, but i still favor the brands with a history like Eco Flow and Bluetti and i bought my first Bluetti in 2020 and have been very happy with them. And today knowing what i know, i would have just gone with the Anker Solix F3800 and been done with it. I'm not sure but does the R1500 have a 12V 20 amp output as i consider this a must have for van life and over landing. Thanks for reviewing and hope you're staying cool in the desert!
What features do you look for with solar generators like the R1500?
Which bump out supplier did you use on your van ?
These are the Vanspeed Capsules.
go knights!
This might be a dumb question. Could you add a "swamp cooler" to help you bring down the temp while using the Wave 2? Great video.
I'd be cautious with the amount of moisture a swamp cooler produces, especially in a tight space like a van. Plus that means carying another device to make the wave 2 work. In my scenario, just not worth it.
so the ZeroBreeze cools an uninsulated tent but not a van? I do not understand this.
I am close to getting this item but how is the wind shield? It appears it is the weakest feature?
I've only used it a few times so in all honesty I can't speak to it that well. With my van, I'm able to get out of the wind pretty easy to cook. It did work the times I had to use it, but yeah I'd agree that it is a weak point.
Black van in Vegas ? Not the best place to start
The EcoFlow is a heat pump. Just like most houses have. Mine has been at my buddy’s house since his AC went out. Wave 2 got his room which is about 400sqft from 97 to 81 during the day. And it gets it down in the 60s at night.
A queen size bed is 33 square feet. Better hang a curtain for the zero breeze
If you’re going to charge camera batteries… definitely pick up a usb charger so you can use dc mode.
Obviously a 5 or 10 degree drop is not worth it at all.
Hi Riley, I live in Australia and came from Queensland. Very warm up there. I’d suggest you block the front windscreen from the outside. A insulated blackout cover across the outer front of the vehicle. That then keep the heat out and makes your windscreen an insulator instead of a refractor. Shut your cover in the front doors. That way it won’t blow off. Make it big enough to completely block out the entire front screen. In Queensland and New South Wales we generally use a big beach towel to keep the dash from heating up in the sun. You’ll need a custom cover.
Thanks for the advice! I am definitely going to look into a better shade system for the summer. Another person mentioned reflectix on the outside of the shade helps. I'll look into your suggestion too!
Well, listen to what you have to say about it for the money that they charge for it. It doesn’t sound like it’s worth it. You convince me not to buy it. Thank you very much.
Hey, glad I was able to help you come to a decision. Thanks for supporting the channel!
The most important thing about any off-grid A/C is efficiency. However nowhere on their website does it state what the Seer-2 of this mini split is. I also assume that it only works in A/CV mode and cannot reverse to heat mode, no? Looking at their published specs, it appears that this unit is very inefficient. They claim a 960w output, which converted to Btu's (the standard way of measuring an A/Cs output in the US) is 3,275 Btus, which is less than the smallest 5,000 Btu window A/C. The power consumption to produce this cooling, according to their specs, maxes at 50 amps @12v or 600 watts. This gives it an EER of under 5.5 which is not good at all. For comparison the EG-4 mini split heat pump I have on my motorhome has an EER of 12.5 and a SEER-2 rating of 28.5. Their smaller 9k Btu unit has an EER of 13.23 and a SEER-2 of 29.5. Plus, mine also provides efficient heating with a HSPF2 of 11.3. Both these units are too large to fit on a van. The head unit is particularly large, which is why it is so efficient, and it is virtually silent too. I can't even hear it run, it's so quiet. The point is they could do a lot better in the efficiency department which would allow you to run it for longer periods of time on less batteries. For instance, here's a 12v mini split (still no heat) that draws 15 more amps but has over 3 times the cooling power at 11,000 Btus and only sells for $520. www.amazon.com/12V-Conditioner-Split-Commercial-Vehicles/dp/B0D2D3NTZV
What's the name of your air conditioner company? I'd like to buy one of your super efficient models that you've designed. Preferably in 48 volt.
The website claims 9600BTU.
Good review, keeps me wondering about whether or not to get a roof mounted system. You might want to look at installing a mini split condensate pump if the issues continues. It seems like the nomadic depends on gravity vs having an internal pump.
Yes, it does use gravity primarily. Honestly it seems like it was an isolated situation. Nomadic is looking into it tho, and will look to correct any issues for the future.
