When members of the PIVIE Committee at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital decided to take the next step toward preventing patient harm sometimes caused by IV therapy infiltrations and extravasations, they called I.V. House. Longtime users of I.V. House UltraDome IV site protectors, they were ready to formally evaluate the TLC Splint®.
Throughout the course of the trial, patients in the departments that evaluated the TLC Splints experienced zero patient safety incidents related to their IVs. Realizing the clear advantages of an ergonomically designed IV therapy splint over a traditional flat armboard, Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital moved quickly to roll out the TLC Splints hospital-wide.
