    Which one is better to use, web version or the desktop version?

    • @Libsyn
      @Libsyn 4 дні тому

      So from my understanding the desktop version is good for speed and access to large files on your actual hard drive since you won’t have to upload those files directly to descript like the browser version. It also is good if you do not have access to the internet (although some cloud based services and effects may not work). So like with everything it all depends on your use case. I think if you are just doing a simple video podcast where you are either recording into descript or bringing in the raw file that the browser based version is fine. But for complex projects, I’d go with the desktop version.

      Hey there! So specifically video podcast footage, I don't know of any resource that has test footage. Best piece of advice would be to do a test call with someone, and record either side of the conversation locally. Remember that Descript does have a remote recording feature so you could just record in the app and that should turn it into a multi cam project once the remote call ends.

    the Vocaster Two is the best value that exists for a podcasting interface and its not really close imho... i wonder if Focusrite will double down and create an even better version of it somehow! if thats even possible; i like how you can run both a dynamic and condenser mic at the same time and turn off the phantom power for the dynamic mic, while still having it active for the condenser

    how do i add chapters because i would like to add certain timestamps for when the subject changes

    • @Libsyn
      @Libsyn Місяць тому

      Hey there! So the way I would add chapters would be while you are editing to place markers in your specific DAW and then bring that wav file into something like Forecast from Overcast where it will read the markers as chapters that you can edit and link to images/websites and then encode your mp3 from forecast. That will make the chapters part of the meta data of the mp3. The other half of it is in your shownotes just putting in the timecodes related to the chapters. There is a really cool website called chaptered.app that can take a csv file of your markers exported from your DAW and easily convert them into timecodes suitable for shownotes.

    this is a useful start...so thanks but what about unwanted sounds that are in the middle of a word? (when you want to keep the word and edit the unwanted noise out, it is a noise like a slamming door in the middle of a word.) do you have a suitable video you can point me to...thanks again...BTW I subscribed and liked.

    • @Libsyn
      @Libsyn Місяць тому

      Hey there, so there are a few different ways that you can go about dealing with a noise in the middle of a word. If you want to preserve the word and not re record it, spectral editing can help. Depending on the frequency of that noise, you can use the spot healing brush to paint it out. The fundamental frequency for human speech is around the 100hz-300hz area. So a cut above or below this point, even momentarily, may not be a massive distortion of your voice. Obviously, if a door is slammed shut right next to your microphone, this option may not work. The other option you could look at would be using something like descript's ai powered overdub feature which can us ai trained in a voice to replace the word where the door slam occurs. This could help if you are trying to clean up an interview where you are not able to re record them.

Update: I tried exporting using the preset Apple ProRes 422 HQ HLG in the latest version of Premiere Pro and found that there's an issue after adding Loudness Normalization. Unfortunately, I believe the color space changes in the exported video when the Loudness Normalization is applied. It is likely due to a bug in Premiere Pro 25 and Beta and I have reported this to Adobe also spent an hour with them attempting to sort it without any luck.

    Super helpful, but a few questions remain - - 1. There is "create podcast" and "create playlist" within YT. What should we pick? 2. What about episodes already published...? Is there a way to mass upload your 200 plus episodes or should we just use the feature of adding RSS to YT? Finally, I 'm struggling with the integration because I tried to do this through YT originally, and my show did not appear under the "podcast" tab for my listeners, so I pulled them all down, and decided to try again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Hey there, so in VDO Ninja, you can specify what your mic and camera are going to be in the Director View. What I typically do is turn on the OBS Studio Virtual Camera and use that as my camera that the guest sees in VDO Ninja and then I select my mic as the mic source in VDO Ninja. As for my guest, I bring them into OBS Studio as a Browser Source using the solo guest link from VDO Ninja. • @Libsyn
      @Libsyn 3 місяці тому

      Hey there! So that list that's showing up when I go to Add Video Capture Device is referring to any camera sources that are connected to my computer. So with the logitech webcam, make sure it's plugged in and working properly. If so then it should be a source that you can choose in the device drop down. The DSLR, depending on the model, may have the ability to work as a usb webcam. If not, you can still use it but you will more than likely need a device called a Capture Card that will allow you to convert the HDMI output of the DSLR to a USB connection that your computer can use. Elgato makes a decent one called the Camlink 4k that isn't too terribly expensive.

    Really excellent rundown and overview - this is great stuff! I haven't heard anyone cover so much and so well in one video! Only one question I simply CANNOT find an answer to anywhere. When recording a video conference call between 2 remote people, how do I control how their videos are cropped and placed onscreen? Zoom butts them side-by-side and returns a 32x9 video! Useless! I want to crop each HD video and create a side-by-side splitscreen 16x9 screen or a simple 16x9 screen with a background image and 2 large PIPs - one for each guest. Tips? Thanks!

    • @Libsyn
      @Libsyn 3 місяці тому

      Hey there! So for this use case of having control over the cropping of the recorded zoom video, as far as I know there isn't any way to add any sort of customization to the recorded video. Keep in mind that despite Zoom's advancements over the past few years, it is still designed primarily for conducting meetings. For this type of use case, I would suggest looking at something like Streamyard or Riverside.FM as they are designed fir recording in mind first. Outside of that, there are open source options like I mentioned in the video like OBS Studio + VDO Ninja that can offer customization and a lot more.
