    Thank you for sharing your magnificent dahlias with us. 🌼🌿I have not yet grown a dahlia successfully. I live in subtropical Australia, 🌴with cool winters with a little rain, and a warm, humid summer with heavy deluges in late summer to early autumn, that affects my dahlia tubers. Spring is usually fairly sunny, warm with low rainfall and low humidity. Sometimes the dahlias grow leaves but never flower. It is very disheartening. You have inspired me to give it another go, though. Do you have any tips for me? I would really appreciate it. I have also planted Ball Dahlia seeds and they have all germinated😀🌺☘🌻💚

      There are some great dahlia growers and hybridizer in Australia. I’d recommend you follow some of them. They’re have much more experience to help with the conditions you have over there. Don’t give up!

    Your dahlias are exquisite! You are such a talented gardener to grow all of those beauties. 🌿🌼Do dahlia colour varieties follow trends in desirability or do colour preferences remain the same in popularity from year to year? I have been gardening almost my whole life but I have only just now started to grow dahlias, here in Australia.🌴🌻

    Ohhh, that white seedling of yours is wonderful, better than many named varieties! I love and prefer shorter growing dahlias, all the years of staking of hundreds of various plants, now I just prefer the lower growing types. Do you possibly have recommendation for very nice shorter varieties for garden display rather than long stemmed cut flower types, thanks! :)

    Your dahlias are beautiful! How do you treat powdery mildew on your dahlias? Mine are really suffering right now. Thanks!

    • @singingmeadowsfarm
      @singingmeadowsfarm 2 місяці тому

      I had a lot of rain this summer so powdery mildew is an issue. Remove the lower leaves of the plant. This is usually where the powdery mildew is the worst and it will allow better airflow. Other than that, I don’t treat. In a normal year, the PM doesn’t come until September and that is end of dahlia season for me anyways. I also grow chrysanthemums in a greenhouse and they bloom later so I treat those by spraying with neem oil. I spray before I start seeing PM. Not certain but think it works by not allowing the PM spores to germinate on the leaf.

    I would love to have the ones you don't want. I live in Michigan I do have dahlias. I'm just a beginner. My dark purple ones are amazing. The light yellows you have are just amazing. Do you dig them up or heavy mulch them? Thanks for the tour. What do you mean by seedlings row.

      Hi Kimberley. Sending dahlias to the US from Canada requires a phytosanitary inspection as well as a visit from government inspectors. A significant investment of time for me. For that reason I do not ship to the US unless it’s for trades of dahlias I want. Sorry about that.

      @vhenderson100 If you mean the pink/peach dahlia that she says shimmers/glitters at around 4:40 I think it's 'Milena Fleur'. I had trouble hearing too. I think the camera was too far for the audio. I thought I heard her say 'fleur', so I checked her web store for a similar name. Mikayla Miranda is white/lavender in color.

    Thank you for sharing your beautiful dahlias❤. What amendments do you add to them.? Where might I be able to purchase the mesh bags you put on your dahlias. Thanks for sharing your garden.

    • @singingmeadowsfarm
      @singingmeadowsfarm 4 місяці тому

      I purchased my organza bags from Amazon. Just make sure to get one large enough to hold the bloom. I’m not certain what Lily uses to feed her plants but in start with a high nitrogen like blood or feather meal in the spring. Then a more balanced fertilizer in July/August at which point in stop feeding to allow the tubers under the ground to get ready for storage.
