How to Get MRI and x rays for cheaper than hospital prices
Hospitals and imaging centers that hospitals own charge hospital prices. Did you know you can go to independent imaging centers and only have to pay a fraction of the cost? Many people have high deductible plans and are required to pay the full cost of care until they reach their deductible. This means you could be getting charged thousands of dollars for an MRI when you could have spent less than $1,000. Don't get scammed!

    This rings so true for my annual experience.. Relax, Ibuprofen, stretch, keep moving, rest seams to make it worse and tighten up. Be ready in morning to stretch first before making bed or putting on pants/underwear. Takes time to use those muscles 100 percent again, use lightly. Think the movement helps keep down inflammation. I'm looking at these videos to find best streches / building the right core muscles. Cuz this sucks, I sympathize with all of you. Been locked up on floor too many times.

    Hello Dr. I am 19 years old and a bit over than a week ago I helped move a two very heavy objects up to the first floor which required that i was turned to the right all the time while moving it up to the first floor through the narrow, turning staircase. After the incident, for the next 2-3 days i couldn't bend my back to pick something up from the floor from the pain (lower right back ) 10 days after the incident with a bit of a weird tiny pain in the lower right back, i helped pick up some slightly heavy items, definitely not heavy compared to the other thing but i think my back hadn't completely rehabilitated and now 1 day after it hurts again very much when I bend. Whould there be another thing i should do to help ease the pain and stop it ? Thank you in advance, Dr

    • @strongsociety
      @strongsociety 3 місяці тому

      @@marcusdurham8515oof. Yea sorry about that. That’s the thing with insurance - it’s meant to cover catastrophic costs. MA plans have such wide adoption because on the front end they’re cheaper but on the back end if something bad happens they can be much more expensive or at best the same cost as a straight Medicare + supplemental plan. This doesn’t include the risk of having severely limited choice in what rehab facility or what providers you can see if you needed it. (This differs region to region.) So from a risk standpoint it’s MUCH riskier to have MA but it can be cheaper if you’re in good health. Unfortunately the older we get the more likely we are to have health complications, too. But… sometimes it’s very hard for seniors on Medicare + supplemental because Medicare for god knows what reason does not pay PCPs well at all. So you might actually have BETTER access with an MA plan. Weird.

    I was told I could try the Advantage plan for a year and come back to regular Medicare w/a supplement plan. They give you one time without having to go through underwriting. I did this in 2024 in order to avoid having to pay costly IRMAA. In 2025, I am now switching to a Cigna MediGap plan and a WellCare drug plan. My year with Advantage was great, no problems getting doctors I wanted and prescription drugs were easy once I got them set up. Lots of perks like dental and eye doctor visits, and gym memberships. Seems like a good value but I worry about the future so I decided the supplement plan was best.

    This is one of the exercises my physiotherapist gave me but i just keep reinjuring my back, most recently by lifting a pot for my wife that couldnt have been 20 pounds. How do i get by when i cant even lift so little weight without feeling absolutely terrible a day or two later for weeks at a time. I never feel a pop or spasm. One to two days later i just get this horrible winded feeling in my upper back that sticks around for so long. I am getting so frustrated by this. This has happened to me couple of times already and happened again. When I bend over to pick something up there's a sudden jolt of pain just above my buttocks around where the "love handles" are at. Bending over again is really painful as well as raising my legs all the way up. I can tell it might be a muscle issue because I stretched myself out to get any cracks but nothing, it just stays there and usually goes away on its own. Can you confirm if it is just muscular in nature?

If you were only having numbness in one or both limbs that's not getting worse and is slowly getting better i'd say wait it out for several months. If you are having numbness through all limbs, that's a different story. Any numbness, tingling, or progressive weakness in one or all limbs is something to see your doctor about as soon as possible.

    i am 20yo and i have the exact issue, i have this kind of sharp pain but not always that gets REALLY bad when i sit on the floor or when i bend over. it doesn't spread though one of the legs only on my lower back. it started happening after doing roman leg extensions (my back did not pop or something) because after one day i though it was the muscle being sore but it continued for weeks and months without it getting better, i perform those extensions on every back workout which is weird im not sure what i did wrong, is it because i overloaded my muscles or is it a wrong technique? is the pain coming from the nerves or the muscle, or maybe its one of the joins?

    • @strongsociety
      @strongsociety 4 місяці тому

      Sounds like you are what we call "flexion intolerant." Put simply your back hurts when you bend forward. My first recommendation would be to visit a physical therapist to work with you if possible. My second is to test out different movements, one at a time, involving forward bending and backwards bending to see which one works best for you. Hard to tell if it's a muscle, nerve, or joint from the information you provided and the fact that I haven't evaluated you.

    Hey Nate! Cool idea. As a registered nurse I work alongside PT's/OT's. A couple of thoughts to consider. 1. As a kind individual, you seem to give those that do not exercise, too much benefit of the doubt. Almost all people that don't exercise, don't do so because of financial and time constraints. Who doesn't have 10 minutes to spare for a quick run? 5 minutes for some push-ups? Both are free? It's merely a lifelong behavioral pattern that's been programmed into their brains, nature and nurture. And the unfortunate fact is, you can teach an old dog new tricks. 2. "Pay what you can", is not a business, and will never be so. There is no incentive to pay, if you can get it for free. Your "business" will primarily cater to those that are low income, and their natural inclination will be to ride the free- gravy train. Swim in a swamp, and don't be surprised if you come out with leeches. That's human nature. In the current economic environment, no one, especially those that are lower income, is going to throw you money if they don't have to. You mean well, your heart is in the right place, but I hope you take the words of an internet stranger into consideration, when I say this is a dead-end. Start a real money making business...future you will thank current you. Become profitable enough, and you can pass those profits along to those that cannot pay by offering discounted/pro bono services. Best of both worlds. Good luck. 👍🏼

They often assume that 5-10 minutes is not enough and "why bother." This is a perception issue, because, as you say, everyone has 5-10 minutes in the day. So -- I think it's our job as healthcare providers and fitness instructors to break that perception for people. Letting them know and showing them that 5 minutes is absolutely better than 0 minutes. It's not about the duration in the beginning, it's the sticking to a routine of movement versus not. Gotta build the habit before you can improve it. 2. Pay what you can will surely attract people who don't pay for it, that's true. However so far we've already gotten paid from several of our members. My background is also in private practice. I ran a business for 5 years and it was 75% cash-pay based. People would pay me thousands of dollars routinely to help solve their problem. So, i've done what you say already and yes, you can offer pro-bono services but the whole vibe is different when it's the normal fee for service business model. Again I have NO PROBLEM with that business model (fee for service), but we want try this as it changes how we think about growing and operating the business. Additionally, there are several businesses that are donation based, Wikipedia being one of them, which is a very successful donation based, grant based business. 3. Once again, I have already had a business that was profitable where my wife and I were able to survive for 5 years on that income. You are saying it's a dead-end but how do you know? Have you tried it in the real world? This is the problem with these conversations is they start on assumptions. Assumptions on how we think the world is. The world MAY be as you perceive it however it could turn out to be completely different. And you could be right, it might not work out, however our perceptions are often incorrect about what will and what will not work. There are several successful pay what you can businesses that already exist and there are strategies to ensure that those that can are paying and those that can't are contributing in some other way. Long story short -- in order to know if something will work you need to test your assumptions against real world data. Only then will you know. Thanks again for your thoughts!

      You are right. Some people have such severe spasms that they have a very difficult time even getting out of bed. My recommendation in this scenario is to do a log roll (rolling your whole body as one unit), to get out of bed. Swing your legs off the side and then use your elbow on your bottom arm and your hand on your top arm to push your body up into an upright position. It will hurt, but often times once people can get out of bed and move around a little bit it can loosen things up. Not for everyone of course, but this is more common than not.
