I love to play with technology, typically salvaging old parts that were being thrown out.
Wyze Pan V2 on Wyze Car
After my last Wyze V2 camera stopped connecting to Wi-Fi I decided to upgrade a bit. Had to repair a USB cable on the car and physically modify a Wyze Pan V2 camera but it turned out better than expected.

Almost identical to its SFF sister, this is a great machine in a tiny package. Barely sips power with the i5 8500T while the 6-cores and iGPU can handle almost anything in the homelab.

Nice upgrade with 8th gen Intel. No room for GPU airflow, if you could fit one in, but the stock 6-core i5 8500 helps.

The third ProDesk 600 Small Form Factor has a nice sleek look and smaller footprint, but what's inside? New USB-C port and onboard NVMe while cutting back in other areas. Here's the basics, and I plan to compare Gen 2 & 3 in a separate video soon.

This is my favorite of the old ProDesk 600 series with 4x PCIe 3.0 expansion slots and 6x USB-C ports making it great for the homelab. The Gen 3 model loses the spare chassis fan header and another SATA port so I feel like this a real sweet-spot for budget builders.

Will it work with 2x SK hynix DDR4 32GB 2666V? Or 64GB Ram is only achievable with 4x 16GB sticks? Thank you!
Have a question how do you use your pc to connect to wyze car? what protocol they use?
ive got a twin cpu z640 wondering if this will work or if theres a model that will whats this cooler???
Exactly what I was looking for. Have HP Z420 XEON E5-1650, and was searching for the possibilities to install water cooling on it. Glad this Workstation case is still in use : ) Thanks Wow, that was bad, that you've run into that "pins bended" thing. Did you manage to solve it eventually?
Yikes
Can i change the case ? And the PSU? Or is the PSU proprietary
Can i upgrade hp prodesk 600 g1 sff with i7 4790k cpu?
I can't wait for Wyze to make a camera with greater than 20 frames per second..
Normally these come with a blower style CPU fan so that is also double duty as your case fan. They can move some air at full RPM they are like a whole one amp at 12 volts.. Agreed the PCI Express location sucks I ended up using a ribbon cable to external GPU. This model often has HP sure start enabled so you cannot roll back the BIOS in order to enable CPU undervolting. Versus the 400 g5 model I've never had a problem
It should have HDMI
According to Copilot the second M.2 slot can't be used for SSD if I have SSD on the first.
Hi! Great job! Could u tell how you modified the bios for nvme boot? Cheers!
You adding gpu?
2:10 all those modules but they couldn't even give us a wifi module lol >.<
SO I was supposed to receive the sff but instead received the mini tower 600 G3. I decided to keep it. It's intel 8th I5-8600. There are some things you need to know about the mini tower vs the sff: -there are no onboard usb connector ports, so you won't be able to run a pci-e wifi card as they use a cable which connects to onboard usb. you will have to run a USB dongle. -there are no nvme m.2 ports, so you cannot install an m.2 drive or an m.2 wifi module. -the oem bios behavior could frustrate the bananas out of you. I keep having to clear cmos to get it to boot the os again... maybe something about the OS I'm running is off? *1:13** edit.. my bad, I didn't realize that connector was possible to be utilized for usb!! weird!!! ** my statement below is now deprecated: "here we can see the same issue with the lack of onboard usb connectors due to logic of the system with the front/op usb ports being integrated onto the actual motherboard. this means you cannot use a pce-i wifi card, but you can use an m.2 with the sff. " The sff is a much better machine in terms of practicality because you get m.2 slots for your drive and wifi, and you really shouldn't be running more than an rx550 or 6400 on the oem psu anyway, so you don't need extra gpu space. I specifically ordered the sff version because of this, but was sent the tower, which as I mentioned before has no m.2 slots, and consumes almost twice the physical real estate. this is my build: -600 G3 mini tower -I5-8600 + stock cooler -16gb t-force team dark pro (was running 2x8gb visiontek 2400) -rx550 4gb -pci-e to m.2 nvme drive adapter -wd sn270 256gb nvme -wavlink 1300mbps usb wifi antenna The one good thing about the mini tower is that you definitely do have room to run a common dual fan gpu, but if you do this, you will need to upgrade your psu to an aftermarket sff unit. I never had this intention as I was supposed to receive the sff and chose the rx550 as it's still a great performer for under $50 shipped.
what are the models of the video adapters?
Hi, i ran this, then the V2 version of the same in my HP Z420 motherboard fitted into a fractial case for 6 years. The 10 sata ports on these boards are great for a NAS and the 2687w v2 has plenty of power for VM's etc. I ignored the cooler warnings and just used a larger air cooler. I have just upgraded to an AMD EPYC setup.
Just got my hands on one of these can't wait to start this project
How did you get it to boot from it? I can’t get mine to recognize as a bootable device
Good stuff! Not sure why Wyze haven’t updated their Wyze car with the new model cameras or threw a pan cam on it! I guess because they barely sold any and don’t really care
Buy for programming and software development it will work well our not reply sir
I'm not sure if this is a question or comment, but this model would be great for programming/software development. I just wouldn't count on it as a gaming rig without major modifications.
What cooler is that . I need one for a z440 .
HP Z420 Processor Liquid Cooled Heatsink Cooling Assembly 647289-002. I'm not sure if there are any third-party options but I just ordered the cheapest one I found on eBay and it turned out better than expected.
only low profile GPU that can fit in?
If you want to give up the "lid" and make some modifications, anything would function. If you want it to look normal, be able to close, and have proper airflow, sadly only low-profile. I think I've seen some dual-lane low-profile GPUs that'd offer more power, but have never had one to test.
Can a low profile gt 1030 gddr5 2gb work fine on this? That 200w worries me
It feels wrong "liking" this, but I appreciate you sharing experience rather than a random guess.
I'm looking for a 200W or 300W anything bigger than 180W power supply that fits in the tiny slot in the G4 or G5. Anybody?
Can I add a 2 pin 5v fan in here? If yes where can I connect the power? Thank you very much
On these more compact models (compared to G1,2) you would need some kind of adapter coming off of the SATA power. Should be a pretty cheap option if you can find it.
I want to get the MT version, would it be ok to use an atx psu and the adapters from 24 pin to 6 6 pins?
MT version?
@@fongumodafaku the form factor MT (Mid Tower), usually contains micro-atx mobo
What about drive mounting?
NVMe? I honestly never "mount" 2.5" SSDs, just let them float around or find a place to tuck it in for better airflow.
how much speed that you get if the adapter attached to the pcie x1? is it able to boot from it?
PCIe 3.0 @ x1 was 797MB/s, PCIe 2.0 = 409MB/s. Bootable from any slot, but as you know it won't beat SATA3 on the x1 lanes, technically. Could possibly be more responsive but data transfers would be the same afaik.
I wonder if, so that one could use a dual slot low profile GPU, could manage to fit either a smaller PSU OR desolder the small PCIE slot and use a PCIE riser cable and place the GPU where the small PCIE slot was.
If you're not concerned with closing the case, I've moved the PSU and used full-size dual slot GPUs no problem. Since you mentioned a low-profile GPU I doubt that's your plan and haven't came up with anything beyond a case-swap. Also remember the power limits on the pci-e slot if it doesn't have the separate pins. I think it's around 40w. From my inventory the quadro p620 has been a great match and allows the case to close, just fyi.
Came here from reddit, great channel concept

I see that the algorithm has blessed me with Server Jesus 🙌
it was honestly genius cutting the backplate out of the HP case and then mounting inside a standard case. I was blown away how easily it fit. I was going to turn a older ryzen HP prebuilt into my new server but I decided against it, this video made me think otherwise!
Thank you! I went through several ideas and had a specific case I tried first before realizing how perfect the big case was, and it's been my main server since. Glad someone got some use from my play-time ;)
Really enjoyed this one. background music a few dbs too loud.
Thank you!! And I appreciate the advice, still not completely sure what I'm doing...

Since when do we ask those kinds of questions?!? For real tho, all these monitors were going to a dumpster so I picked them up then had to think of what I could use them for. Hell, the wood is from an old couch I tore-down for scraps when it was ready to toss. I hoard...but I use the crap, too...
Hello from Brazil... Glad the algorithm brought me here.... I loved your channel, now I'm a new subscriber :)
Awesome! Thank you so much, and sorry for such a delayed response. I typically post something then close my eyes for a while afraid to learn what I did wrong... lol
What is the max length of low profile gpu can you put in it?
About 8 inches with the hard drive cage still installed, 13ish inches with it removed. The USB3 header and a 6-pin PSU connector might be in the way after removing the HDD cage, depending on the card. I've removed the USB3 cable to make room before, but iirc that prompts a warning you can't bypass. Good luck :)
"cant take this anymore"

Not trying to compete, but did they do a "wall" of vertical monitors? I had 9 set up horizontally but none of my equipment would let me create a single desktop with them all. This is using 4x identical low-end nvidia gpus lol.
Is that a vertical nvme ssd?
Yup. Was like $8 on Amazon
