Our Peruvian Apple Cactus [Cereus Peruvianus] is working overtime this summer and produced two blooms last night. The bloom life cycle is only one night, and this 8K HDR time-lapse is precisely 24 hours long and comprises 4,326 individual images.

With a unique twisting, irregular, and undulating pattern on the stem ribs, the Peruvian Monstrose cactus blooms at night in the summer and remains open into the next day. Shooting 5,730 images over 32 hours, this particular night-blooming cactus, also known as the Peruvian Apple Cactus [Cereus Peruvianus Monstrose], took over 26 hours after peak bloom to close. Produced in HDR10 .
