I understand your point and I also respect it but I actually dont find it that insulting as you say in the movie. Sure there were more nations during the battle of normandy but in this movie is about a group of soldiers rescuing and american one . So at the end of the day I dont find it as insulting as you say ( The only thing I can point out is at the driver of the landing crafts in the omaha beach which should have been brithish but the rest of the movie is seen as the american side so is not that big of a deal) maybe you if you had refer to the film industry in general in hollywood I would have agree with you but in specific this film I dont. @@MariovND-bc2yc Thankyou for your respectful reply. The reason I get so angry, is that my Uncle was there that day, and British and American soldiers were mixed up together. He was shot in the stomach and survived. I realise that it is about American soldiers searching for an American soldier. I have no issue with that. What makes me furious, is that in the opening scene, one cannot see one British helmet, not one Commonwealth soldier, yet they made up 50% of the entire landing force. They could have included some soldiers who fought alongside the Americans, in the background. That was the reality. But, no, the Americans in every war film made, give the impression they did it all by themselves. We Brits had been fighting the Nazis alone, for 2 years, and fought off the Luftwaffe. Wonder how many Americans are aware of that? My uncle said the Americans were brave, but a bit too aggressive, unnecessarily costing lives. The Brits knew their enemy, and were battle hardened, they tried to warn the Americans to be cautious in some instances. But, for all intents and purposes, we never existed. Shame on de Nero, and hanks, shame on Hollywood too! Btw, in the making of Titanic, James Cameron defamed Officer Lightoller , inventing the scene where he shot himself. Total fabrication, he was a brave man, and survived the sinking. This misrepresentation of facts, insults those who fought, or were brave. Cameron is another one I would happily shoot. Sorry, that's how we feel, and the Aussies, Canadians. So, please forgive my rant. Also, America did not enter the war for altruistic reasons. Britain is small, but has invented 40% of the major life changing inventions of the world. She also punches way above her weight. Not the country it is today, but at one time, she ruled quarter of the world. I'm proud of my history. With respect to you, and truth.

Why are Hanks and Nero disrespectful to veterans? I genuinely did not know that... Also, this movie focuses on the landings at Omaha Beach, which was all US troops in the initial assault (I think the coxswains were British though since they borrowed some of their landing craft). Hanks and his men landed at Dog Green (west side of the beach), which was the most brutal sector, some units incurred over 90% losses in the first wave. I can understand why you would be upset that there are no British in the entire movie though, since after Hanks and co. made their way inland they certainly would have come across them.

Alot of people wrongly assume it was all America, it was not. The American soldiers were not battle hardened, like the British and Commonwealth troops were. We knew our opponents well, sometimes these soldiers were killed for rushing in, when advised not to. Hanks and co, are left wing globalists who are out of touch with ordinary people. These men of WW2, fought against everything this cancel woke culture stands for. I despise Hollywood.

@@serenityflies1462 Well I can understand the angst. However, I think Spielberg had good intentions in making the movie. Although it is overly US-centric, it does realistically portray the struggle veterans faced in the war. Real veterans even say so. Have you seen A Bridge Too Far? That is one of my favorites and focuses on the British mainly.
