I too have the same problem in my 1.2 polo its not just the steering rack for the noise when u rock the steering wheel it is also the steering column so the noise when u wobble the wheel will always be there if you dont fix the steering column u need to fix both if u hear the same noise after replacing the rack :)

That's not the DPF. it's the catalytic converter. The DPF is closer to the rear of the car on the 520D
