So I'm a 69 year old guy who's looking at teaching bass again this fall after a 7 year absence and I thought "well let's see what's going on in basslines these days".... Yeah - right. Maybe I can tech the triangle section, but I doubt that. Stuff that would have been an incredible feature not so long ago is now just regular, middle of the show scoring. Unbelievable...

Absolutely amazing. When we first saw snares doing splits for one second 20 years ago....wh would've thought it would lead to basses playing like tenors? I'd like to see these basses officially declared "baritones," and then bring back the deep resonant basses....the lost heartbeat of drum lines...and hear what magic would happen with a line like a Brazilian samba battery.
