      Sadly looks like the curly pigs tail has become bacon! All Fenix remote switches including the upgraded AER-03 V2.0 has straight style cable - maybe a cost saving to make or maybe its from a recommendation from someone they've listened to.

    Excellent review! It's a superb flashlight! The only thing I don't understand is why the 150 lumen mode is missing, which is present on the TK20R V2? Do you have any idea why Fenix removed this mode from this model?

    • @FenixlightUK
      @FenixlightUK 10 місяців тому

      As a distributor we never know what Fenix will release - even when we do see prototypes, generally they are too far down the road for our input! I agree 150-200 lumens mode is needed as its enough light for mid range and won't kill the battery - I guess this model is Tactically designed rather than duty designed? I'll feed it back to Fenix HQ all the same

    The 21700 is a must for multi-beam high power flashlights. And the USB high current charging is industry leading. I think the floodlight is not bright enough. They should have made that 1000 lumens. Most people don't need 2700 lumens of throw. I notice that many brands under-power the floodlights. Maybe it's a thermal management issue? Honestly, if I had both the spot and flood which can reach 1500 lumens and perhaps have both running at the same time at 1000, with two red LEDs it would be a winner. I went on the website and none of lights seem to meet this spec.

      An Apple Charger I can imagine might have some Apple wizardry in it that might stop it from charging something not Apple, but as you said a standard one wouldn't be an issue - I charge mine with a high powered Anker C to C cable and it charges fine! If you think there's a problem, get in touch with your distributor or Fenix direct.

    Just ordered this V2.0 to compare with my Rovyvon E3 Angel Eyes. Very happy with the Rovyvon and hoping the Fenix is even better. The Fenix is more of a bargain, I paid £45UK for the Angel Eyes compared to £32UK for this Fenix EO3R V2 on next day delivery, looking forward to my post tomorrow. Have to be honest, would have bought the Fenix 1st had I seen it as I really enjoy all things made by Fenix since buying the amazing triple tube whistle around 4-5 years back, always carried on my keychain ever since, beautifully engineered and supremely loud. Great Video, thanks.

    • @FenixlightUK
      @FenixlightUK Рік тому

      Most LEPs are totally legal as the laser is only used to generate light and isn't the light itself. The laser is aimed internally at a phosphor element, converting the concentrated laser light into safe visible spectrum white light. We just would put caution on them as at close up they are very intense - they are designed for long distance usage.

    hi, I would like to ask, how long does the flashlight shine at 3000 lumens? how long does it take for the power to drop due to temperature?

    • @FenixlightUK
      @FenixlightUK Рік тому

      So for the 3000 lumen setting on the C7, it holds better than most torches but still drops down relatively quickly - it slowly drops down to 2500 lumens over the space of 15 minutes. After this time it drops a faster rate down to 150 lumens over 30-40 mins. The fact it drops so quickly after the 15 minutes is because that long at that high an output is quite a long time and drains a lot of the battery. If you want to see the run time graph, head over to the product page on our website and go to the end of the image carousel.

    E05R and E09R need a small point (or bump) in the center of the power button to help locate the button in the dark. It's VERY difficult to quickly locate that button as it is now.

    • @FenixlightUK

      Both have them have a raised section for the button - just need to roll the torch around the neck till you find it. I think Fenix have gone for the style instead of pure functionality on this.

  • @michaellemon8287
    @michaellemon8287 Рік тому

    I bought this light recently, used it already on a mountain hike and I like it. Small, compact, simple, well built and easy to operate. I think the battery runtimes are also very good but you need know better than what the box boasts of and roughly divide the runtimes by two if you want to know the usable power output in a given mode rather than "anything between stated output and 10% of it". But despite that the torch can keep pretty steady output for a reasonable amount of time in all but the highest mode, which drains batteries quickly (after about 1.5h the turbo mode gets equal with the lower high mode). But the lower modes are still pretty powerful. And yes, I appreciate a torch to be powered by alkaline batteries because I'm not a heavy user and for me li-ion rechargeables would not be economical nor ecological, I wish there were more quality torches made for alkaline batteries but most nowadays use li-ion. I'm usually not fond of AAA batteries because they are less economical than AA but in this case AAA's make sense because the battery pack can be thinner, which allows for flatter and better shape of the torch. The only complaint I might have is I wish it had LED with a higher CRI. I find the colour temperature just right - natural daylight but not too cool. But one reviewer measured the CRI to be about 60, which is very low and not good for colours. Something around 80 would be better as a good balance between CRI and power efficiency but anyway, it doesn't bother me much for what I use it for. Overall, a nice little head torch.

    • @FenixlightUK
      @FenixlightUK Рік тому

      Thanks for a great review! I will pass on your comments to the Fenix team Something we are looking to try out here is testing our lights comparing Alkaline, Ni-Hm and Lithium AA/AAA batteries. We know Alkaline's don't do high outputs well (low and long is their game) but we'd like to see how effective the other varieties are.

      @@FenixlightUK, I appreciate your prompt reply! Work can be overwhelming; thank goodness, then, there are so many people out there who like to share. :) Which reasonably-sized flashlight is the thrower you would recommend?

      When we get a bit of time we'll try and get out with a load of lights and do some comparisons 😁 The best reasonably sized with the biggest throw is the TK22 TAC at 540m using 2800 Lumens - but the tac tail switch isn't for everyone and the head is relatively large compared to other models. TK20R v2.0 is probably the more compact option. PD40R v3 which just launched is 500m throw but you'd have the neck twist switch. Essentially with range its a pay off between reflector size and output - 3000 lumens in a small torch is about your limit as it starts to cook after that!
