    I also have people who I tried to talk to & become friends with, but at some point they seemed to back off and they are never as friendly as they were before, it's almost like they expect me to read their minds, but when you don't back off at around the same time as they did, the grudge becomes thicker and thicker simply because you were still trying to reach out to them, people are really pathetic.

    • @patternsofpossibility

      It sounds like you have quite a bit of frustration and confusion with how people behave. I get it! It was my story for several years. I found myself feeling the same way until I realized that I was the common denominator. If you have a desire to change your dynamic and interactions with people, consider these two things: 1) There may be something that you're doing to cause them to hold a grudge. You may be turning people off with your actions. 2) You're missing something important to know about the people you hang out with. They may be grudge holding people who you always seem to find yourself connected to. In any case, you'll be empowered when you start looking at your behaviors and make a change.

    I have a cousin who I sent a message to on Facebook messenger a couple of years ago, I was simply asking her a question about something then she blocked me... and I remember when I realised that I had been blocked, the confusion that came over me was unreal. To this day I have absolutely no idea why she decided to do that. People holding grudges are strange, but they're even more strange when you can't recall any wrong doing that may have caused it.

      @@patternsofpossibility In your opinion though, what is the psychology behind someone like that? Is it because they never liked you and have decided to make it obvious to you... it's the fact they they made it obvious hence the block, because it shows you that you can't reply to the conversation. But that's the thing that really gets me, because we're family which means we're all going to meet again at some point and they will know that.

      @@James-4812 I appreciate the question, and I'd like to invite you to have a Friendly Conversation with me to discuss it. I can give you an answer, but it would be generalized, and your story seems as if it is nuanced. I do need more explanation and examples so that I can share actionable insight that will help you handle the family grudges. You know what? I am a regular viewer of your UA-cam channel. I have seen your videos and the content quality is very good. Your channel has quality content but still it is not delivering its right audiences due to SEO problems. SEO optimization will also make your videos appear first in Google, UA-cam, Bing, and other search engine search results by relevant keywords. You should focus on your video's SEO for the right audiences and more organic views so that you can have big fanbases. Seeing it and keeping my frame (my personal set of boundaries, sense of self, and respect for self) so I can exit as gracefully/safely as possible is how I aim to handle it. Speaking to the behavior if I can't extricate.

    You're misunderstanding people who can't take compliments. But you're right that they have issues, just wrong that a poor self-image always leads to what you suggest.

    • @patternsofpossibility
      @patternsofpossibility 3 місяці тому

      Here's a little more of my thought process.... If they have poor self image, they'll certainly have trouble taking responsibility for any unintentional pain they've caused another. They most likely will attribute their impact on you as another flaw in their character. They'll pout and say, "I'm so bad" rather than recognizing the pain they've caused on another. Do you know people like that?

      Sure, sometimes people have esteem issues. And as a friend, it's nice to be able to support other friends. From my experience, I've found that my friendship does so much better if I'm not constantly trying to boost their self esteem because they're lacking confidence.

    Maybe action speaks louder, and words are useless.

    • @patternsofpossibility
      @patternsofpossibility 3 місяці тому

      Perhaps that will work for you. Consider that we agree on the what words mean and not necessarily what actions mean until we use our words to define our actions. I mean to say, I don't want to try to interpret your actions. In my experience, it's easier to say what I feel and get verbal confirmation.

    How to handle people who get angry, defensive, and/or attack when you bring them this kind of opportunity? These are the situations where when you're reflecting after, you're like: why did that communication get misunderstood? In my mind practice, they got curious when i asked the question or named the behavior (in curiosity). The difference between communication issues and behavior issues gets harder to see for me.
