Jerry West left in 2000....aka after the first title of their only threepeat in LA and 4 titles before their final one. It cannot be pinned on Mitch Kupchak... and in fact was keeping the franchise relevant until HE left in 2017.

Even at the time, bad trade. The dude became an all star two years later. Again, they got Pau and that worked beautifully. But then they made terrible coaching changes after Phil Jackson retired, as well as horrible free agent decisions. Again, Mike D’Antoni and Steve Nash to run a Kobe/Pau/Dwight trio?’ They fired Mike Brown after one game. They drafted the wrong guys and developed them terribly. They failed to get stars, they relied on getting an old ass LeBron and gave up the farm for an Anthony Davis who already told the NBA he was either a Laker of a rental. They had at a time, fucking Adam Lavine involved in the front office??? Oh yeah, and Magic Johnson being a god-awful executive that honestly made me like him less as a player from his tenure. And no, Kobe kept the franchise relevant until then, we won 10 chips in 30 years that kept us relevant. Not Mitch and the awful moves he made in his late tenure.

Westbrook was like that before he was on the lakers. Being on the Lakers exposed him because he couldn't play that selfish ball anymore. Lebron ruins every team he's on, but Westbrook never changed. He was just an athlete with no fundamentals.

No ring and was not able to lead a team past the 1st round in playoffs. He was the reason Durant left OKC. People can't look past the triple doubles to realize its just empty stats. To get most his triple doubles he had to shoot 8/22 from field, 5-7 turnovers, and steal rebounds from big guys. He made teams worse and never played winning basketball. I told everyone he will never win a ring, and he is still never going to get one.

@alfasiger4178 1st of all, I'm not arguing that RW is a great player...You can argue he doesn't play winning ball; like a lot of other high paid players...but you're argument doesn't fit the Lakers...The Lakers never let RW play RW style basketball...They tried to turn him into jump shooter and corner 3 point shooter..Argue whatever you want, the fact is, playing with LeBron messed his money up...RW may not be making 40mil right now, but had he not joined LeBron, he wouldn't have taken that great of a pay cut. And that's a fact you can't argue against...that's the only point I'm trying to make... I'm not advocating RW GOAT...and like I said, what other superstar is going to take that gamble.
