do you need the dos boot disk for win 2k? i want to try this on dosbox pure on android but it seem the iso itself isn.t bootable.

The quickformat failed i believe because back in the DOS days you could not quickformat a drive that was not formated yet, unlike windows 2k and up (NT Based) the OS can quickformat an unformatted drive
Yeah it's weird. I'm just so used to NT that I sometimes forget about these limitations.
@@twistyjoygaming422 reinstalling windows 98 monthly back in the late 90s sorta made it stick with me, along with fully memorizing the windows 98 upgrade cd product key to this day that i used back then
if you added /S to the FORMAT command, it should have copied the system files required to make the hard drive bootable.
Wow, I did not know that! Definitely good to know for the future.
@@twistyjoygaming422 notice: does not work with Windows Me, to do this you have to install patched boot files to the drive and apply a boot sector
I thought it did work with Windows ME, you just had to change Win98 to Win9x. I could be mis-remembering.
@@twistyjoygaming422 no it just says the /S parameter to format is not supported for Windows Me
Ooooohhhhh! Gotcha!
this way is better due to the fact that if DOS doesn't understand your CD drive you can install Windows from an SSD to an SSD and do it very fast
I have to remember this next time I need to install windows to my new gaming pc
Man! Imagine installing Windows 98 on a modern PC!
For Me, Windows ME Was just a bloated themed and less stable version of Windows 98 SE, just like Windows 11,Windows 11 is just bloated and themed Windows 10
For me, Windows ME was basically just a less stable version of Windows 98SE with a Win2K theme slapped on top. I had this OS break down in weird ways, just like Win98. I do want to say, The experience may be worse in a VM vs Bare metal as modern hypervisors are not designed for compatibility with old OS's in mind.
I tried Windows ME briefly. And by 'briefly' I really do mean BRIEFLY! ... about 3 days was easily enough to conclude that it was TERRIBLE! So I immediately returned to 98SE :)
Unrelated but i noticed something.. Now that VMware Workstation Pro is now free why are you still using VMware player?
The worst old version of Windows is 8. Not because it's worse than launch day ME or Vista, but because it never improved, 8.1 just put a button where the corner hover was and didn't really fix anything with the UX. ME and Vista launched rough but they were ultimately fixed up and fine to use by the time they were at their end of life. But that's the worst *old* version, which excludes 11 and 22H2 10. Windows 10 had a couple of issues early on, stabilized around 1709, then started becoming a bloat nightmare from there gradually to 22H2 where we've been left off. Windows 11 is the bloat in 22H2 10 turned up to... well, 11, plus a worse UX, the worst version of Windows to date and somehow still getting worse.
No, it's definitely Me. The problem is that it crashed right out of the box. It was so unstable that it was basically unusable.
@JodyBruchon The problem *now* is that you can't get the stability updates that finally patched it up without loading them manually from an update archive, the servers don't exist anymore. Vista had launch crash issues too, but was dead stable by the time SP2 was in.
@JodyBruchon Agreed! Windows ME is hilariously awful. It's funny how Windows 2000 was around at the same time which I still consider the best version of Windows, period. No bloat, no themes, just simple and straight to the point. I love XP and 7, but Windows 2000 was the last of the Windows versions that just had that classic feel, was stable, and was so minimal on system resources.
Windows ME was just a re-release of Windows 98, but with a lot of features added that didn't even work.
Yes. Do it.
Milenium was fine! now win 11 is the true horror! that shit is just outright malware! at least milenium was a honest attempt at a real operating system I never really had that bad of an experience with ME... at least it never stood out to me.... maybe i just got it later when it was already somewhat patched.. But win11... now that shit made me permenently abandon windows forever and jump ship to linux.
Nope Vista and 8 you moron
based
take a look at windows longhorn if you havent already, you might be surprised
I've got a feeling that this channel will grow. Good content man
Thanks! Seeing this helps me out a ton!
It might be a full clipboard that is causing it.
This channel reminds me of MichaelMJD, which is great.
Thanks! I will admit MichaelMJD was a big inspiration for these computer videos but I kinda do my own thing. Seeing this comment really does put a massive smile on my face. Thank You!
I made a hell of an overhaul patch/upgrage to MicroXP, that once installed, adds only about 40MB of files and updates and reconfigures lots of things, to make it way more usable these days, even on real hardware. You actually *can* access plain HTTP sites, straight from the Windows Explorer Address Bar, don't even need that stupid Browzar for that. And there *are* much more modern 3rd party web browsers made to work on XP. With my patch kit, I'm even able to install and run virtual machines, at least up to Windows 7, within MicroXP. But yeah, without my patch kit, MicroXP is at best just a fun little novelty, that just might run software up through the year it was originally made, 2008.
Neat. I'll take a look at that.
"looks like Windows 2000." NGL, I loved the base look and feel of W2K, it was simple, quick, and worked well (in the world of ME)
May use this on my old Athlon 64, I use as an emulation system, eg Amiga, C64 etc.
hi I am looking for debloated version of Windows 7 Enterprise Do you have any that you can recommend? Can you also share the Iso for that xp?
The link is on the wiki page.
I've used Tiny7 a few times over the years, worked great :)
Ps - why enterprise specifically? Ultimate probably easier to get and has most if not all of enterprises features
because enterprise is still supported by Microsoft
There is a lot of incorrect information. This is not a "Linux Thing," it uses reversed engineered code, as well as reimplementations of Windows XP. BTRFS was added because FAT isn't opensource. Also you failed to mention any of the history behind the project or even that it was in alpha. It's also important to note that if you were trying to actually install this on baremetal, you will have a ton of issues. Your best bet is to try it on an era appropiate device.
how is this legal
Better to use nightly builds of ReactOS with version number 0.4.16. Because 0.4.14 is very outdated....
i really wish more operating systems would try and look like other operating systems
"uyhiuyhyuuhuyh" he he he he 3:47 somehow that made me giggle
It is not Linux! It has it's own kernel which is Windows-NT like (Windows-NT is the Windows kernel). It is basically a open source re implementation of Windows with theoretical support for Windows programs.
ReactOS doesn't just look like Windows 2000, in the code it is a reversed-engineered Windows XP
Yeah I for some reason thought it was a Linux distro. Turns out it's not. It's reverse engineering windows which is really cool
@@twistyjoygaming422 I mean it has BTR FS or whatever it is called, it has it because the FS is open source and because they can
Pretty good video I don't like this type of videos but I really enjoyed watching yours Good luck 👍🏻
Thanks! I really appreciate it!!❤️
ReactOS is a HomeBrew OS that is Supposed to be Windows NT Compatible. Origonally started as FreeWin95 I think... Nothing Linux related but the Theme I've tried using this a few times 20 years ago, Nothing ever worked, Still always fun to try every 6 Months LOL
Wow! I've never even heard of FreeWin95! It's weird though because it seems like it used Linux and I knew deep down it wasn't. It's weird LOL! I wonder how it works on actual hardware though. Might do a video about that.
@@twistyjoygaming422 Windows NT3, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, 11 are all based on a thing called the Windows NT Kernel. ReactOS is based off a reimplementation of the Windows NT Kernel, open source and written from scratch. The rest of the OS is also written from scratch on top of this. There are a lot of really cool things about the Windows NT kernel, it works completely differently to the Linux kernel, so it is nice that this exists and isn't just another Windows themed Linux distro.
@@twistyjoygaming422 Yea I didn't wanna Sound Too "Mr. Know it All" But I've followed this in the early 2Ks when I got my first Office Job sittin on my arse all day. All I really did was Download Different Linux Distros Or Pre-Vista ISOs that were usually Fan Made Junk. ReactOS doesn't work at all for everyday use, I've tried countless times. Fun to screw with, but a low end Linux Distro with WINE would Work better.
By the way, this might've been a joke, but I'd be willing to bet they replaced the Dwarf Red Bulborb with a Snow Bulborb because the Hairy Bulborb's natural habitat is in the cold, so Snow Bulborbs (in the Breadbug family, mimicking Hairy Bulborbs) would only appear in a region close to Hairy Bulborbs. Though Red Bulborbs also habitat the Valley of Repose, so it would make sense wether it was a Dwarf Red or Snow bulborb. I love the taxonomy in Pikmin- the Piklopedia was possibly the best addition of Pikmin 2.
I played through this last year and enjoyed it, but it didn't quite scratch the itch on my sack that I thought it would. I generally prefer the first game, but recently I did an 8 day run of vanilla Pikmin 2 for the first time. It's pretty good. 1 and 2 are definitely better than 3 and 4 in my opinion, but mostly because of the controls.
thanks for doing my idea
wow last time i watched this channel was more than 2 months ago! since when did you get a new PC and decide to install windows instead of that linux distro you had?
I know it sounds shocking considering I love Linux to death. I still love it. Linux I think will be the future of operating systems. Heck it's already seen a ton of growth. However, in current day at least for my uses, I realized that unfortunately there are just a lot of programs that I need that only run in Windows, like the Pikmin modding tools I use, Irfanview, and Anvil Studio just as a few examples. "Well can't you use WINE?" Yes but it's super buggy and I've had so many issues with running these programs in Linux. Also it's not guaranteed that the program you want to run will run with WINE. "What about a VM?" I did use a Windows 10 VM for a long time actually but I decided to delete it since it was taking up a lot of hard drive space. Plus it was just getting tiresome for me. Does this mean I'm going back to Windows forever? Hell No! For me at least, it's only until developers start developing on Linux more and their is more support that I would permanantly switch back. I'm not saying Linux is bad, nor am I saying Windows is better. Windows has it's own problems. But programs I need run best in Windows as of this moment which sucks.
@@twistyjoygaming422 I've tried Linux but I found that it's just not for me as I don't find deleting all the bloat annoying in Windows. Stuff I liked on Linux though is the customizability as it is open and you can do anything you want to it, who knows, if there is new software like wine but better without the extreme hassle needed to get Windows software to run, maybe but just maybe I'll switch!
