The volume might be too low. I can barely hear anything with regular setting.
Looks like we came to the same conclusions for predictions of best and worst archetype. Will be curious to see how right or wrong we are. 😄
I really like your style of review. Just comment to increase the viewer engagement :)
been looking forward to these!
I think your overall card evaluation was on point pre-format and this was also a good re-review. Keep up the good work.
Woot! Was waiting for this
I'm a new subscriber getting back into Magic after a long hiatus. Draft is my favorite way to play and I find your reviews very helpful. One thing I'd like to see that I you do that haven't seen elsewhere is talk through your drafting strategy walking into the pre-release. What colors/combos do you think are strongest, which colors you want to start with, and what kinds of signposts are strong enough to take you off them? Then go through some sample drafts and talk through how that strategy holds up once you start seeing cards.
This was great, keep them coming! Excited for the set and to play in my prerelease this week!
Appreciate the notes, excited to see your red review!
Really appreciate your content. Keep it up!
Nice video! Thanks for the insight!
I've really enjoyed bloomburrow, seems like it's gonna be over very quickly. First set I've really drafted and I think I did pretty well, partially because sometimes the decks draft themselves. Makes me a bit worries about Duskmourn but hopefully it's as easy to learn as BLB. I also feel good that I called a lot of the overrated cards early, gives me some confidence.
Your videos are great, excited to see what you make for Duskmourn!
Gratz on P0P1! Carrot cake busted
Great video!
Hey, I've actually watched this twice now and I just wanna say as an extremely average draft player (100 hours in Arena, around half of that playing mono-red and no other MTG playing experience), this is really helpful content. I really struggle with committing too early to colours rather than looking for the open lane, I used to take the gold rares often and I think that was a big hindrance. A couple 7-0 runs but it feels like I'm either lucky and just happen to be drafting the open lane for a good run, or I go 3-3. Seeing you take the greenshell P2p1 really makes a lot of sense. Previously, I'm not sure I ever would've taken a card in pack 2 where I have literally zero cards of that colour, but your explanation was on point.
you earned a sub!
Early I was drafting a lot of blue as well. People kept passing on Rat Looter and it was blowing my mind. Into this week though blue has fallen off a bunch for me. Even getting the good blue cards I was blown out by Yrga. I never got to draft GW. The closest I got was playing a mockingbird as someone's rare turtle and killing him with it.
I think you missed Clement, the Worrywort and Lunar Convocation from the main set. Also all the special guests but I assume that was intentional.
Flamecache gecko is a great turn 2 option combined with Hired Claw - as you hold the 2 mana to threaten a burn while he swings, then can drop the gecko and it gives the mana to pump the hired claw anyways. Especially with Flamecaller coming in turn 3 before both swing, thats 2 3 power creatures swinging t3 and pinging opponent for 2 regardless of blockers.
Super useful! thanks
Suprised you don't like green more, GW and GR beatdown looking scary
Bestow fortunately can't be blown out
I like essence capture vs plot because it's more telegraphed when they'll be casting it, so there's no need to hold up mana until they have something plotted
Can't you only cast plotted instants at sorc speed 33:40
That is correct. I missed that part of the mechanic the first time. It is only relevant for a few cards but still good to know going in to the set.
There are three prerelease cards that you included in the limited set review. These prerelease cards cannot be played at sealed events and do not show up in draft packs.
i like the rating system, and your explanations are very clear
green sus
Do you think krovod haunch/makeshift binding lifegain plus dog walker/inside source to get to 5 will bump up the lifegain case, or still too niche? Seems like there's potential with the right support
Best with toxin analysis or other lifelink effects now that I think about it, could just be an Orzhov card
There were several cards in LOTR that produced counters when scry happened. Actually, it is very easy to play a strong deck abusing it (blue+green).
4:50 as I found out, the worst case scenario is actually not cycling. The worst case scenario is you use this on something, they counter with the white protection instant, and now they have a buffed creature and I don't even have my card 😢 In a weird way Defiant Strike is actually better than this, because it's so negligible that you can cast it on either yours or your opponent's creature and either way the real stuff (prowess, cycling) will happen. But you're never targeting your own guy with Chill so it's more clunky.
Your content is very interesting, your channel is underrated in my opinion.
Flying Crane Technique is 100% a Tier 1 card in this format. Once you get into the format a bit you'll learn to loathe that card whenever you see it pop up on the stack, and it WILL happen a bunch. Should have been either a Mythic or not printed.
Outlast was a very very strong mechanic in Limited. Underrate it at your peril.
All morphs are colorless.I remember Ghostfire Blade being pretty good
Morph doesn't use the stack so you can't react in response to it
Nice video. I went 2:2 with BW Corrupted here in Germany and had great fun. My deck contained The Eternal Wanderer which was an absolute bomb and Archfiend of the Dross which I only drew once but then it ended the game. Format is fast. Lost two games due to not having a one or two drop basically. My favourite card was Flensing Raptor in combination with little toxic creatures like mites out of a Charge of the Mites.
I like your format! Very creative!
