I love the way you went through this! Another thing is when he is mad at Katniss for her actions with Peeta even though.. it was for survival. And I love how you put all the romance to the side and how he went through it because when everyone hears Gale hate they think it’s just because they chose Peeta but it’s more to that and I definitely think you described that perfectly.

Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video on if Katniss loved Peeta. We all know she did but I mean if she didn’t only love him for the feeling of safety that he gives her or that he is the only one to love since Gale is no longer in the picture. And if she ever thought of Peeta how Peeta thought of her as beautiful, or loved him for is charm . The only reason I ask this is because I watched some other videos and people take it in this way and I don’t fully believe it but it is in the back of my mind.

I also don't think that the games happened in the end. I can't see Paylor, from what little we know of her character, approving them. Paylor is a rebel commander, clearly, she is not above killing and she must hold a huge amount of anger towards the Capitol elite after what was done to eight. But we also know that Katniss likes her, as a person, more than Coin. Also, while it's a movie-only addition, her speeches in Mockingjay: Part 2 didn't really give "a person overcome with vengeance". Nor was she someone who just wanted power, like Coin. She was on the ground, with her people. All the context clues we get show that no, Paylor wouldn't want to even consider, let alone approve of another Hunger Games.

I loved Katniss and Joanna's relationship in mj. I thought it was so sweet! I also really wish they added Haymitch falling off the stage at the reaping (I love Haymitch and think that is another little comedic relief moment in the book)

I was thinking about this the other day! Even if there had not been a rebellion building, which obviously there was, Haymitch also would naturally be more capable of persuading sponsors because he has more connections and experience than Peeta. What the sponsors send helped them a lot in the quarter quell.

god, the hunger games have so many levels and so many double entendres like it’s so insane and so beautiful. they arent like other book characters. they are humanized so graciously and lovingly. suzanne collins truly put in work and honor with these characters.

I agree completely! Thank you for articulating how I feel about katniss having her children at the end of the books. I hate when people act like her having kids is not in her character, as I think it is when she feels safe to do so. Also there is the moment after the kiss on the beach when she's drifting to sleep and has a happy dream for once about a world where Peeta's children could be safe...

But ABOSBAS didn't make you like snow? People simped over the actor that played him but the book was VERY good at making sure you knew he was a monster from page 1 The main reason why it works so well as a prequel is because it shows us how the games got to be what they are and how Snow single handedly turned them into a spectacle for entertainment

You are so right! I honestly haven't even read the ballad of songbirds and snakes because I just hated Snow and had no desire to spend that much time reading about him. I loved the original trilogy as a kid, and I'll probably read the Haymitch book. I would read the shit out of a Finnick book tho

For a long time it seemed off to me that volunteers were accepted only after the names were drawn from the bowls. But it clicked for me: it’s an insidiously brilliant move (Snow’s idea?). No matter the proceeding, who wins? Always Snow/the Capitol. No one volunteers? “See? Love isn’t real.” Lots of people volunteer? “See? They’re savagely eager to kill each other out in the Districts, so the Capitol must maintain control.” Only one volunteers? “See? Sacrifice nets no substantial change, citizens. Either way, the Capitol leaves you on Reaping Day with two fewer children.”

Read the books several times but on my first audiobook listen. Never noticed both Katniss and Lucy Gray are wearing their mothers’ dresses on Reaping Day.

I like to think that Madge gave the pin to Katniss because she knew that she could win, and that could be a symbolic Victory for her aunt
