Good video, I have headphones, IEMs, but I always come back to speakers in my treated listening room. I do not think headphones or iems can rival the impact speakers have in the low end, most people that came to my house prefered the speakers over iems or headphones, they were more impressed by the phantom image, the amount of bass etc I think you get more emotion with speakers (in a treated room, fully treated)

Reasons I don't like IEMS [anymore]. 1. Earwax build up (overtime this increases wax build up and can actually affect your hearing and requires flushing). 2. Discomfort. I own 1000 eartips but rarely ever found one that was comfy for more than 1 hour before being annoying AF. There are closedback headphones on the market that are all day comfort. 3. Lack of soundstage in height and depth compared to headphones 1/3 or 1/4 the price. 4. Earbuds with active noise canceling replace IEMs in my opinion for their ability to block noise while getting 80% of the resolution of an IEM of similar price. 5. They are a moneysink due to how cheap they can get, but if they were so great to begin with why not stop after three of them? Show me an IEM user and you will find someone with dozens of sets, far worse than even the headphone hobby. To be clear I agree with most of the postives people talk about, but these negatives tip the balance for me 70/30 so I go with headphones and speakers these days.

I was a headphone only guy until a few years ago when IEM's started to get really cheap and really good. Much better value for the sound, I can't lie - I love the bling, doesn't mess with your hair, with good eartips it's as comfortable as any headphone, it's not OPEN BACK so I can enjoy it around others and in public, they're all easy to drive and most important of all it's much easier to hide new purchases from my wife.

A flathead video could be cool, any in ears seem to kill my ears/head

i understand that iems have come a long way til today: but i dont find they are near the point where they can reasonably replace any decent over ear headphone in most categories and situations other than physical size. i do wish they would succeed for their form factor seems so ideal for portability. my issues with iems: 1) cable noise and occlusion effect are common in both vented and non vented, which ends up negating their portability function 2) i tried many supposedly neutral reference tuned iems if they were recommended by multiple analytical reviewers, but they always have something off / unnatural / unconvincing in their sound technicities and tuning 3) in my experience so far it seems you have to spend 2-3 times as much as an over ear headphone to get a similar performance in iems, and even then it seems to fall short in some ways 4) for any given individual, fit compatibility is widely varying across iems maybe im just spoiled coming from studio refence tuned planar magnetic over ear headphones. feel free to debate what im saying to prove me wrong
