Thanks, dude. Yeah Robert Frost was the man, love his poetry.
Thanks Paul, great interview. There is no link to the second edition in the description. Rocket 88 just has the originals. Do you have a link?

A blend of Bent and Dr.Seuss :D and Paul Melia.. of course ;)
Thanks for the comment 😊 but who is Bent? I have not heard of this person.
This was a really excellent interview! Would you ever have a chat with @breathless345?
Thank you, glad you liked it. Sorry I don't know who breathless is.
@@PaulMelia No worries! Breathless made very in-depth UA-cam documentaries on Paul McCartney’s life after the Beatles and the personal relationship between Paul and John which are very well made imo; I would highly suggest trying out an episode or two from his channel! I feel like you guys could have an interesting conversation. Also, have there been any talks between you and Dae Lims about going on the podcast again?
@@jovialjam Thank you. I shall check that out. I must give him a shout about it. I'm just finishing 2 albums at the moment so the podcasts aren't as frequent but I will email him about it and hope we can get one during the summer.
Very good! I love Talk Talk with all my soul! ❤️❤️❤️ The best band and Mark Hollis one of the most great musical genius ever!! 💕
Hi thank you very much. Check out my podcast I've had Phill Brown and Tim Friese-Greene on.
For people outside the US, can you please explain more?
I'm not in the US, I am talking about Ireland.
what's the twitter account he mentions at the end ? fatpet3 ?
If you type Tim into Google it will show his Twitter account.

Nigel needs to write a book man. Waiting for a Nigel+Bush reunion, all the OG members.. I would pay a lot of money to see that.
ANother Irish man in the world of Beatles! Brilliant!!

@@PaulMelia Indeed. I've interviewed Mike McCartney on two separate occasions, and he told me: "We were a mad Irish family."

I was there when Beinhorn and Frank tested the Euphonix R-1. 96 tracks at 96k. Beinhorn ended up with 24 channels of lavry AD and the rest was the Euphonix converters. I was at Conway when they were setting everything up. If I remember correctly, Pro Tools couldn't do 96k at the time. And I couldn't get the Pyramix card to work either. That's all I have.

Other feminist organisations are possibly being funded by the state , example being NationalWomans Council who are vigorously pedalling the Yes vote
Organisations like National Women's Council are NGOs so they are funded by the government.
Yes, funded so are actively campaigning for the YES YES vote so as to protect their funding...

@@fionadonohoe7535 Cheers for listening. Hope you found the podcast informative.
Gavin has to be completely torn up over how he treated Nigel. When they had their falling out it showed in the music. Golden State is an awful album and it only got worse for Bush from there when he departed. Nigel was always my favorite part of the band. The way he played guitar opened my eyes to that instrument and I'm thankful for Nigel to this day. It's wonky that because somebody writes a melody and lyrics they think they have the full ownership. Bush was very much a collaboration and Gavin's ego got out of control to where he thought he was BUSH.
I actually really love Golden State but I totally agree that Bush isn't Bush without Nigel. Actually Bush isn't Bush without all the lads. The new Bush is a joke, to be honest.
Thank you for another great interview @paulmelia. I seem to be working my way through your catalogue in non-chronological order. I just listened to AV1 and it's a transcendental experience. Any idea how Hollis' installation music can be heard? BTW, saw the Tina Turner concert live in Newark, NJ. I think it was on her 69th or 70th birthday and she rocked the entire arena, just as Phil described. She ran off stage and onto a narrow arm of a cherry picker and proceeded to dance her ass off in stiletto heels. Legend!
Hey that's great to hear. He did a thing called Arb Section 1, it's on UA-cam. Tina Turner what a talent she was. I watched that same concert as you. Amazing. Don't know what that means.
If I'm being honest... as a hardcore punk rocker... RKL was my favorite band, but before RICH KIDS ON LSD, I loved Bush... more than anything... and goddamnit... fucking BLINK 182 reunited... WHY CANT BUSH? Gavin is great, he's got the best voice, but damn... just swallowed alone... That hit will never be recreated without Nigel... I know what its like to be underappreciated, but goddamnit, can you at least be underappreciated but still a part? Goddamn, Swallowed is never gunna happen again without Nigel... and it sucks. Dude, he's the English Irish Rory Gallagher... Honestly, maybe better... There has never been a better more melodic use of a slide... and Ive seen many try...
if Nigel ever gets back with Bush, Im buying tickets and tshirts, thats all Im saying.
who slides the melody like that.... no one, swallowed, the biggest hit... not the same without Nigel
as a man named totten... fuck... get back in bush
no you need to lead write the songs
you are that much a part of bush, idc you dont need to tour... you slide like no one else
This guy is a real legend. So excited to check this out
Cheers, hope you dig it. Did you listen to his latest solo record? If not, have a listen, it's really good.
@@PaulMelia Will check it out. Always tried finding Nigel and couldn't, and also Dave but can't find much on them. Met all 4 in the 90s.
This song has got so many emotions in it that I'm personally caught off guard with your reaction. To me this song seems has it was written for me . Lost my . Mother and my Dad and my son Tommy when he was 24 and I also lost my Daughter Misty at only 3and ahalf so this song is pretty personal to me. Tommy from Nashville Tennessee
Well, that's good it means alot to you. Sorry to hear about your losses.
Great video!
Cheers, glad you liked it.
Man I so wish Bush would Reunite with all the original members from 1995. I love Nigel. He's an amazing guitarist and he's super nice in person.
Yeah, Bush ain't Bush without Nigel or the other guys. It's a joke Gavin calls it Bush. Nigel is a great dude.
Lovely interview - thanks.
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
Really miss his guitar sound in Bush , would have loved to hear what he would have brought to the newer songs. I visited his guitar shop very cool. Glad he’s still releasing music . His debut album was great.
To me ''Bush'' of 2024 is just Gavin Rossdale and a backing band. Nigel had a great sound and Bush have never captured that since. His solo is indeed great. Cheers for the comment.
Love this interview. Great guests.

Far too dark
You mean the book?
Does anyone happen to know the exact model of Gavin’s green Strat used on the razor blade suitcase tour? I’ve always been told it’s the Eric Clapton 7up green but that’s not true. I believe it to be a 91 Strat ‘57 Reissue ST57 lace sensor MIJ. If I had to bet it previously belonged to Nigel.
Nigel do you still have the painted Fender Strat Plus?
I will ask Nigel and get back to you.
Actually I’m more interested in what exact model the green Strat was for the razorblade tour if it’s not too much hassle. Appreciate it.
@@cdub10071 Nigel said he got most his guitar's in a Fender Custom shop. I believe the green one belonged to Gavin, so Gavin would know about that. Speaking of Nigel's strat ''The blue Strat is the only electric on 16 Stone and used on everything and live throughout the Bush days. It was a Strat Plus that I bought in Camden in 91, had it resprayed''
most people dont want strange mostly men with no documentation coming from culturals which totally clash with irish culture especially african and asian migrants

I actually envy you. Curious, did you hear the previous versions and John's demo beforehand?
The Beatles have always been goofy and cheesy because they never gave a fuck about what was fashionable or not. That's why they reached absolute genious, they never were afraid of that lack of style or they would have become The Doors or Led Zeppelin. Yesterday, Imagine, Ob la di ob la da are over cheesy songs created by men who never gave an absolute f.. of what the era asked from them. Being absolutely true to yourself is the best way to reach greatness, and this is exactly what we're missing today with overproduced songs with perfect mixes, calculated imagery and products whose sole purpose is to not be able to be criticized by the masses. So for me, this is a true Beatles song and music video.
Yes they have been goofy but the difference is this wasn't goofy it was just badly made. If you liked it cool, I wish I liked the video. Compare this to the Glass Onion video which looked amazing.
@@PaulMelia No I can't say that I like it. I find it cheesy too, especially the videoish shot with Macca and Ringo singing in the studio. I agree with you about almost everything you've said. But on the other hand, I know it's the Beatles DNA. They were able to write Come Together, Something and the abomination Maxwell silver Hammer on the same album. So this video, IMHO, doesn't betrays the Beatle's spirit. They've always been kind of crazy and totally not self conscious.
@@zaziou711 I get you. It's a shame they didnt get someone to make a more fitting video.
@@PaulMelia You can't really refuse Peter Jackson lol.. especially after all he's done for the Beatles lately. And behind this average product, there are still some very moving moments in it. I know that film directors, even the greatest, are usually poor music video directors, but they know how to produce some emotions.
There are some lovely moments but I think the bad outweighs the good for me as Unfortunately that is to say@@zaziou711
That was a fun listen. Thanks Paul and Phill
Cheers, glad you liked it.
No wonder George said its not good enough. It just doesn't have the magic. It's very sterile. And I am a total Beatles obsessive. Paul and Ringo didn't need to do this. It is great to hear anything Beatles as they bring good vibes but this song should have stayed as a John piano and vocal only. It's classic mid 70s Lennon but it's not Beatles if you know what I mean. Real Love is a better song in my book. But each tiotheir own. If you dig it then by all means enjoy it with peace and love!
I think they really could have done more with it but alas they didn't. I hear you about it being Lennon track. It is what it is. I like it but just feel it could have been done better.
This version was good but it was repetitive and I was also bummed they removed the prechorus. Also Paul's bass was too aggressive during the verse imo. Shouldve kept it simple then had fun in the chorus. What also sucks is they pulled all the other versions off youtube right when this official version came out. Some guy made a orignal Lennon version with AI pulling his voice and it was amazing but they blocked it.
Yeah, I heard that version a few days ago, that sucks they pulled it. I thought like yourself, it sounded cool.
Yoko found a tape that said :for Paul. Its all about the shared life of those boys, then men, then missed loved ones. It's a song because they connect that way. It's a covenant of love. The remaining beatles are in their 80s. They've known each other since they were children. My friend and I were were 4 when we heard the Beatles and played Beatles. We're in our mid 60s. Every memory we have has a musical backdrop of the Beatles. This song works for our love covenant too.
Such a pleasure to hear you both talk; Phill Brown's memory is astonishing! These stories are a great tribute to music history, next to Phill's enormous contribution to the most remarkable music by his unique recording skills. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to listen to your nuanced conversations, it really brings a moment of warmth in these confusing times.
Hi, thanks for the comment. Phill is a legend. He is such an amazing engineer and a great person.
At 4:33 I meant the green screen.
I enjoyed the video, but the actual song is very mediocre. This song, along with the Anthology singles are not canon, in my opinion. This reeks of nothing more than a cash-grab, because the fans will buy every vinyl variant of the single and Red and Blue albums. Heck, McCartney III had 5000 different versions available. It's a poor way for one of the greatest legacy bands to take advantage of a captive audience that will purchase anything. Paul and Ringo will not be around in a few years, so I guess enjoy what was created, but it's still not a definitive Beatles song in my book.
You know I actually really love Real Love and Free as a Bird. I get not everyone does but I like them alot. There is defo alot of cash grabbing with regard to the price of the reissues, shocking what they are charging.
