How 'Make in India' is SECRETLY Helping CHINA!
In 2020, a nationwide call to boycott China swept across India after the violent clashes in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, leading to demands to remove China apps and hit China economically. Sparked by the tragic loss of Indian soldiers, this movement to boycott Chinese apps and products saw people smashing Made-in-China gadgets, spurred by a strong nationalistic response and a rallying cry for economic independence. But as we revisit these events, the question arises: what happened to boycott China? Did it achieve lasting change, or is India’s reliance on Chinese imports still deeply rooted?
This video takes a deeper look at India-China relations and explores why the boycott China movement seems to have lost momentum, with India’s trade deficit with China nearly doubling since then. From the India China LAC standoff to agreements on India China LAC patrolling, India-China border policies have adapted, but challenges over the India China border dispute remain. Initiatives like Make in India have bolstered India’s self-reliance efforts, but the dependency on Chinese imports for vital sectors like electronics and energy persists.
With recent India China talks aiming to ease tensions, we question if PM Modi’s message to China will bring tangible changes. As we explore why India should boycott China, we consider if initiatives like the Make in India initiative of Government of India can sufficiently address security risks linked to Chinese products, especially after cases like Ajit Doval China negotiations and the India China patrolling agreement.
Join us as we examine the geopolitical landscape, the outcomes of the India-China border dispute, and why India’s movement to boycott Chinese goods faces obstacles within a complex global economy.

    I guess India is importing more intermediate products and capital goods rather than consumer products from China now, such as API, which is further processed into medicines in India and then exported to EU and US. As long as India can get overall balance of payment , or even better running a surplus, it is not a problem for India. When domestic supply chain matured, your dependence on China, or any other nation will decrease to the degree that nobody would raise his eyebrow on that concern.

    The assemble in India is still better than buy from the world. Also, assembly is the first step to manufacturing. This is evident in case of IPhone where camera lenses will now be assembled in India, against the position of importing assembled camera lenses till yesterday. Additionally, the glass casing of the camera lens will also he made in India. So, the position is improving slowly, and we will achieve backward integration.

    Emotional Indians making emotional reactions. The Galwan video clearly shows it was Indian soldiers first charging towards the Chinese side. In fact the Chinese soldiers were stretching their arms in order to reason and pacify the Indian soldiers shouting and charging. Indian side ended up losing more soldiers and the defense gave a "China aggression" narrative which the media pounced on. This provoked anti-China public sentiments and protests.

Look at our manufacturing ecosystem in electronics, renewable energy products, semicon, steel etc. It's growing very fast. So after all the “Boycott China!” chants and smashing of Made-in-China gadgets, we’ve somehow ended up buying even more from China! 🤦‍♂️ The irony is real. Meanwhile, “Make in India” is still warming up, while our trade deficit with China is working overtime. Maybe we should’ve kept some of those gadgets-we’re clearly still buying replacements! Let’s hope PM Modi’s next moves finally get us some real change.

    Haha, this video hits the nail on the head! 😂 From smashing gadgets to shouting “Boycott China,” it’s wild to see how things played out. Who knew that after all the patriotic energy, our trade deficit with China would still grow, right? It’s like we threw a massive “Made in India” party, but forgot to check the supply list! 🇮🇳🔍 Curious if Make in India will ever fully shake our dependency on Chinese imports (especially in tech and energy sectors), but it's a tough game. Let’s see if PM Modi’s diplomatic moves and India’s self-reliance drive will finally tip the scales. Great content!

    • @BijaliDas-rv4sd
      @BijaliDas-rv4sd 3 дні тому

      Interesting perspective, but I think the Boycott China movement has made some real progress. While we may still rely on certain imports, initiatives like Make in India have pushed us toward self-reliance, with more domestic production happening than ever before. The growing momentum in tech manufacturing and renewable energy is showing positive signs, and PM Modi’s diplomacy with China could foster a balance without full dependency. Change takes time, but India’s making strides in the right direction!

    • @thesecondschool
      @thesecondschool 3 дні тому

      Well, its a bitter pill to swallow.. Yes, we've made remarkable progress, but still rely heavily on Chinese imports. If you look at the current situation, much of the 'Make in India' has kinda become 'Assemble in India'. The real progress will be when India can produce much of the components domestically. Good start with semiconductors, but a loong way to go.

    I appreciate your efforts in bringing this replicated map in front of us. But there are some things to consider in the video. You mentioned the figures of Indian soldiers martyred in the Galwan Valley clash but nothing about the Chinese soldiers. While both countries have released official figures, there have also been several media reports about deaths of Chinese soldiers. In contrast, you mentioned only the media reports that the Chinese army had captured about 1000 square kilometers of Indian territory, but said nothing about the official commentary of the Indian government and the Indian Army.

    • @thesecondschool
      @thesecondschool 4 дні тому

      Thanks for your comment.. Yes there are multiple reports with different figures of Chinese casualties.. I should've included that information. As far as the official commentary from Govt is concerned, it's hard to use that as an argument. It's a debatable topic. Govt said not an inch of land was lost, but on the other hand, foreign ministry recently reached an agreement to let each other access their patrolling points. If access to land was not lost, then what is the agreement about? We must all accept the fact that the Chinese did encroach on the grey area land that was being patrolled by India until 2020. We lost access to that land, and the recent agreement is evidence of that
