I like the old keys

I bought an fx-4000P when I went to University (Engineering) in 1986. I still have it and still use it every day! Impressive that it has lasted 38 years of daily use.

Anoter great review, thanks. I have Swiss Micros DM41X, DM42 and DM32. The DM32 ENTER key seems less robust - it "rocks" either left or right when pressed. Did you experience this with your DM32? Thanks.

It's an amazing calculator at that size. One of my all-time favorites. The BASIC language it has is one of the best Casio has ever put in calc, mostly because of the "prompt"?A syntax that allows you to enter a value for A while using a custom prompt and showing the existing value which you can accept by pressing EXE without typing in any new value. That's an amazing feature that so many other calculators, even better ones, don't have it. And the Z array and the stat arrays can be used to do so much stuff. Check UCF for programs for it. The lackluster complex calculations are a big negative for sure though. And the hinge has broken on my first one. I replaced it with another and use the first one as a backup device for the programs. Nowadays I just carry an HP-12C with me though. Coding for it is even more fun (and hard) than the Casios and I found myself needing financial calculations more often than trigonometric ones lately. 😊

At 6:20, why did the derivative of sin(x^2) equal (2*x*pi/180)*cos(x^2)? Shouldn't it just be 2xcos(x^2)?

The new CASIO CW series calculators are the ugliest calculators ever.

The CW font is why I picked it, it has the best font I have seen on a calculator

Thanks for the interesting video. I got my 33s in 2003 as my first RPN calculator and was mocked about it a lot by older colleagues who used previous models. (Yes, we were all engineers) So I got the 35s when it came out, simply because it looked so much better. Having had both calculators on my desk, I always used the fancy 35s when I felt posh and continued using the 33s whenever I actually had to calculate something. The arrangement of the keys makes so much more sense on the 33s. E.g., if you didn't know anything about calculators, where would you search for the enter-key? I certainly on the bottom right, not on the left somewhere in the middle. So the 35s has been sitting with empty batteries in my drawer for years, while I am still using the 33s all the time. While it's an eyesore and I do have several improvement ideas, it's still the best calculator ever made. At least for me...

Hello! Im currently using the calculator ti82 stats and Im trying to use nDeriv on the function 25*2^-0.3131x for x=5 but for some reason the ti82stats doesn't seem to handle negativ exponents. Same thing for functions like (4/x)+1 they work with nDeriv. Do you know why and if those are common errors for the stats?

Nice video. Could you make a video showing how to transfer libraries from Windows PC or Macbook to the HP48GX?. I have the HP48GX, HP49G, HP50 and the newest HP Prime. I can upload programs on all of them except the HP48GX. I have the original cable and I have tried to use the Connx4 program for windows PC but this program do not recongnize the port COM from my computer, therefore, the software select “Auto” mode in order to transfer the files to the calculator but doesn’t work at all. Thank you in advance for your help .

Was annoying having to import the fx-CP400 and fx-5800p. Good thing parts are interchangeable between CP400 and CG500. I like it more than my fx-CG50 but I like the fx-9750GIII better than either but the fx-115ES PLUS is a more practical size and I am now really far off from this things capabilities.

I think they are excellent, very powerful calculators. The bad thing is that the interfaces are very bad and not very intuitive on the HP 48g and HP 50g. In that sense, the Casio were much better, although they were not as powerful at the calculation level. The great motivation of the HP Prime is its interface, but its great shortcoming is that it does not have the equation library.

Leave it to TI to have the 67 be a better version of the 68.

My first programmable calculator was TI-48 which had keyboard bounce problem and due to this I was able to return it and upgrade it to TI-58C which never had this hardware problem. Later I got TI-59 and Printer and these also never had any hardware problems. Finally, I sold it to buy an HP 41CV. Nevertheless, I learned programming on TI programmable calculators in 1977.

The Casio Mini (1972) has round buttons.

While I'm not a fan of the clamshell design, I really like this calculator. I repaired a 28S that I got from a friend, and I really love all of its features. It's a very complete calculator that I think it was quite ahead of its time. Thanks for making a video about it.

Dear @Calculator Culture, I have ordered a DM42n and am strongly considering purchasing the DM41X if anything, because it comes with the HP Application pacs built into it and as a handy back-up. As a long-time HP-41CV then CX user from the early-80s, I pined over the memory limitations of the 41C series calculators. Can you please confirm that loading a Module is as easy as selecting option #4 ("Load Modules") at the 12:54 minute mark of your video? Many thanks.

Have seen this yellow and blue prefix key somewhere before… But where ?

Couldn't afford it then, now I just have a collections of HP-35, HP 35s, desk top HP-46 and other HP versions including some with magnetic card readers.

I have one, now in my hands. Inside it there are some programs I wrote to calculate areas of lands where I surveid. Azimut, angle, with Gauss method. I chenged batteries to not loose these programs: nostalgic mood...

Can we display the results as a fraction or exact value rather than as an approximate value? I mean 25/75 = 0.333333333... but it's also 1/3 and I would prefer this result as a fraction.

I hate free42 and pcalc lite because you have to pay to actually see your stack it’s actually infuriating

991EX was the best calculator ever made by Casio and they mess it up with the 991CW. What were they thinking? In an exam situation speed is of the essence and if you have to dive into layers of menus to get to a function its a non starter.

When you mentioned that Swissmicros provides state files for all the programs in the original User's Manual as well as the HP-32S Engineering guide, I need to ask if the state files are already designed into the DM32 or if they are available for download someplace. If they need to be downloaded what URL are they found at?

So I have watched the review videos, but im still confused which one is better: The Ti Nspire or the HpPrime? It seems like the Hp Prime is easier to use with the touch screen. If I were to buy one for an engineering class which one would work better?

All the years I did those algebraic equations on paper and your telling me there are calculators that just give you the answer if you enter the numbers... 💀

Back in 1990, in Wollongong Australia my HP15C had a faulty key. I loved the thing. I took it to a HP service centre and they couldn't fix it. I had changed careers at the time and said an emotional goodbye to my trusty old friend, my HP15C - The HP service centre kept it. Now I have my 15C as an app on my iPhone.

I want to buy a calculator that is excellent but I think the claspad is already very old although it is still exceptional, which one would you recommend? I have no price limit and I like good experiences for the end user. In this case, I am between the Texas Instrument TI-NSpire CX ii cas, the HP Prime V2 and the Casio Classpad 2. Esta fue a mi entender, la mejor calculadora de casio que tuve, me gustaba mucho el lenguaje simple para programar, lo que me parecía muy poco era la memoria ram, esa calculadora con al menos 24k o 16k hubiera sido insuperable, pero claro, estaban las graficadoras que tenían más memoria y eso era otra cosa.

Cuando era chico a los 10 años aprendía a programar con esa calculadora , año 1978.... cuantos recuerdos, pensar que en esa época 127 pasos de programa no parecían ser pocos. mi viejo todavía la debe tener. me llamaba la atención términos como salto condicional, salto incondicional, subrutinas, todo un mundo nuevo para mí.

HP 48sx was the chemist calculator! This was the calculator of the early 90's. The Achilles heel is after 25+ years. It has the same issue like many HP calculators, the ribbon starts to fail. another failure is the way it's put together, very hard to take apart, very unfortunate. And with all these faults, it is probably one of the most enduring calculators and probably the last great HP calculator that was made. For anything that HP does today, it's nothing compared to what it was before..

If you flash the 42 with the 47, can you bring back the 42?
