Simon Craig - Blue Oblong
United Kingdom
Приєднався 14 вер 2006
The world is full of places to see and things to do.. Blue Oblong wants to take you there. Lets try to keep this quite interesting
- Cosplay - Costume making - or making other things.
- Historic finds - Curios remnant of yesteryear. They can be found in the strangest places. I hope we can shed some light on their origins.
- Stuff - I found myself on a stage dressed as a beaver with Joe Pasquale. Or in a fire fight with real fire. Or a walk in the hills.
- Short Films - As an actor I get involved with projects. I sometimes help behind the camera too.
A Spooky Beast crawled out of his pit. A Spook with the number of a Beast became SP666KY!
Lets see where this takes us. I will try to Label everything clearly for those that are more interested in one subject.

The Saucerer. Experimenting with camera magic and trickery.
This short film is a bit rushed. We learned a lot filming this and future films will be much better.
We filmed at the Settle Down Cafe, which is now the Square on Thornton Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

The Iron Man in Newcastle

In the courtyard of the Black Swan / Newcastle Arts Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne is The Iron Man or Iron Giant. While it is not very old it has an interesting history. Thank you to The Who and The Police for their footage. No infringement of copyright is intended. "A nesting place for Blackbirds and Collard Doves" as their own literature so poetically put it. :)
Steampunk ED-209 - Part 1 - Restoration Project

I have dug out my old Steampunk ED209 (Edward 1889) . The law enforcement droid from Robocop from an alternative Steampunk world. I can fit inside this with my feet attached to the feet of the Robot for mega cosplay. Work is needed to restore this to make it even better than it was before.

Recently I made a short science fiction film caller The Soul Stealer. It has Scavengers in a dark post apocalyptic world. This video shows you some of the costumes and props I made as a filmmaker for this film. This may be helpful to cosplayers and LARPers ad well as small filmmakers. Cosplay Hammerstein Part 4 - Robot Feet
I'm happy to say, my ancestors built this little house. We owned the vast majority of the Lake District and Cumbria during that time.
They have left a beautiful mark on the Lake District for their future generations to enjoy.
Hi Simon, would you be able to do a video on the history of sniffing?
Hello
Ah, I love this place. Fond memories of my honeymoon back in 1987. I have a little ornament of it.
It is a lovely place for memories. :)
Oh yes, sadly my memories are somewhat marred by the fact that the husband dumped me 30 years later. Focusing on the positive though, I will always love Ambleside in general and the Bridge House in particular :D @@Sp666ky
AMAZING
Looks cool good luck with the rest
Thank you. Some parts moved on for other costumes. I should get them all together to finish it.
That was brilliant! Thank you.
I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Such a beautiful building and piece of history. Thanks for making this video for us to see and learn.
Thanks. I'm pleased you liked it. :o)
Came across this lime kiln whilst walking through Yewbarrow Woods at the weekend. Thank you for this really informative video on how it worked.
I'm pleased you found it useful 😀 .
Oh my gosh Thank you so much it's gonna be my first time making something cosplay and this gauntlet you made just put things in place thank you!!
Great. I'm pleased to be helpful. :) Would love to see how this goes :D
Here because of Dracula Daily! This puts this into perspective of how far Lucy and Mina were!
Thanks. I'd say Mina ran along way. I don't think I could have. Though Mr. Stoker lived there at the time.
Thank you so much! This is great, really helps make this scene more concrete in my head
Thanks for that. Its a great place for do bring Dracula to life. :)
Brilliant. 🙂 . I came here not for Dracula but for Holding Back The Years. Great vid anyway.
Whitby has a lot going on and is a lovely place.
Thank you so much.
I'm pleased you like it 😀
Every time I visited Whitby I always wondered the rout Mina took in the novel. I never actually knew that I walk the exact same path every time I went there. I pretty much walked the same way that you did without even knowing that was the path she took. So I don’t need to do it cos I already have 😂 great video thank you for making it
It's nice to do it at a leisurely pace to take in the sights and maybe lunch at the Duke of York. :) I'm pleased you like it.
@@Sp666ky now I’ve got a job and a steady pay im already thinking of going again
Adorei!!!. pois não conseguia imaginar a cidade, apesar das ricas informações, eu estava tendo dificuldades pra interpretar a cidade. Obrigado!!
fico feliz em poder ajudar 🙂
Best fish and chips in the world , but the steps to the church take the edge off an old fool like me ! When you come down a pub is waiting directly across the steps, the benches on the steps are a place to put coffins on to give pall bearers a rest. The super rich of the day had a horse drawn hearse and a path next to the steps with stones proud so the horse could get a grip. I walked down it and scared me to death! A man couldn't care much for a horse taking him up and down there, dragging a hearse , thats why it cost a fortune. I hope you can translate this, kind regards Martin.
Excellent, I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you.
we we'll just start to film The Last Voyage of the Demeter in Malta ...
Sounds good 👍 I'm looking forward to seeing it. 😉

I lived in Whitby Yorkshire Great Britain from 1968 to 1973 and attended St Hilda's Catholic School. Sisters Etna and Evangelist wore habit and administered justice.
It is a beautiful place, though I doubt there are so many nuns there these days. ;)
Sir it's literally amazing
There should be more of this sort of quirky, lovely little buildings.
Awesome
I like how you had the options for "watching next" at the end, with your voice announcing the options and "please subscribe" - aye its good the rabbit isn't it! - we were filming around the cathedral for one of our episodes, interesting spot
I do like your films. :)
the rain effect works really well
Thank you. I wasn't sure if I pulled it off. Then again I have had to watch this soooo many times.
I have been there it is amazing
It is indeed a gem. :)
Great vid.Thanks for posting 👍

Thanks :)
Creepy vibes there.also in church grounds.they don't want you there
That looks like something I could modify for one of my Transformers...eventually.
Go for it. :D :D
this is very eady to make thank u
It took me a while to get it right. His hammer hand was easier. ;)
I'm embarking on a Hammerstein build and I admit I'm very excited. Standing in my socks I'm 6'7" and 19 stone which I think will be useful to pull it off . Thanks for the inspiration. WAR ! 😎
I would love to see yours when its done. :) I should really get on and finish this. Which colour to choose though? :\
question why didn't you heat seal the foam with a heat gun then use the pva to crate a bas on thet then spray the the plastidip?
I have achieved some good smoke using disposable BBQs from poundland and putting some damp grass in (once it gets to the smoking stage) and using a plastic or some sort of stiff board to waft
I was just reading this chapter of the novel! Great to see the exact places intended. I am beginning to appreciate how important Whitby is to the story. It isn't all about Transsylvania and London.
Visited the mausoleum today first time in years the crypt now has a grate over it to stop people entering it and the walls and are covered with pentagrams and ouijas on the floor still a nice place to visit for a bit
Good to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for the update.
Our grandfather worked alongside Sir Joseph Swan in that house, we donated all of his notes and contracts etc to the Lit and Phil in Newcastle.
I found some interesting things from the guys at the Lit and Phil. To hear from you is amazing. What an affect the work in this house had on the world. Wow.
creates a Battlefield 1 helmet more specifically of the Astrohungarian army stormtrooper
Can you peal off plasti kote
I have checked the red kite shape that I tested on. PlastiKote is the one that cracks a bit under lots of bending. All the parts don't peel off easily.
So glad to see a new video here in Mooresville, NC US. I always enjoy and look forward to them....Thanks!!!
RIGHT, where's the rest of it? Good work so far!
At the time of making this post I hat 5 Hammerstein videos. I think this here is a link to the playlist :- ua-cam.com/play/PLCBwBTp-t2ivfdAuGtlUNTPTf8n69pGVR.html I have also just put up a video about how I paint up my metal look props. I have not done Hammerstein in a fare while. Thank you for the nudge. I should get on and work on some detail. Cheers, Simon :o)
I NEED SOME FOR PROP MAKING
The audio is really good in this.
Could you paint my girlfriend? I've always wanted to make jiggy time with a statue.
England yay
i just subscribed because you sound real
You should check out the Cemetery at Jesmond if you can get in. The work on those tombs is amazing. lots of huge masonic tombs and that. There is one with an angel slumped over a tomb crying, it's still in perfect nick today. Think it's marble.
I will have to look into this. :)
Excellent video
Thank you for the video. Making Halo under armor at the moment and will be using this to paint. I better get some PVA glue :)
Very clever way to make opposable fingers, and easier than most other methods I've seen.
