Reckless Acoustic Cover
Cover of the Valley of Wolves song 'Reckless'.
A few days ago, I hadn't even heard of the band, let alone the song, thankfully it's a good ole blues number.
Lots of fun to play, pretty sure this one will find it's way to the group song list.
Backing track by me, SR300 bass & ESP Ltd TL-6 electro acoustic.
The guitar in the video is a Sigma 000M15L

Here I Go Again Acoustic Cover
Переглядів 1522 години тому
Having a go at Whitesnakes Here I Go Again. David Coverdale, I am not hehe, so had to pick out my own version of how to sing certain parts.. Really enjoyed learning this one, inspired by a good friend who covers it brilliantly. Backing track is me playing an SR300 bass and an ESP TL-6 electro acoustic. The acoustic in the video is a Sigma 000M15L
Keep On Loving You Cover

An old REO Speedwagon classic. This one was way outside my comfort zone vocally, so I pulled it into my DAW, (Reaper), then added a couple of vocal overlays, one at the same pitch and a couple of higher ones. Took me some courage to post this, I'm well aware of my vocal limitations. ;-) The isolated vocals from the original track is buried in the mix as well. All guitars are me, my TL-6 and Tan...

My attempt at Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Love the song, indeed the whole album. Again, not a song I've attempted to sing all the way through before. Guitar breaks are totally improvised on the spot, warts N all.
Closer To The Heart Cover

Having a go at a Rush song, cheating a little bit by only playing the melody at the start rather than the full arpeggio. A favourite of mine from the excellent Farewell To Kings album. Never tried singing this one before, so a bit timid. Using a backing track of my own, with a rhythm guitar, (using my TL-6) and bass line. Had to do a cross-fade near the end due to the door bell interrupting my ...
I'm With You cover

Acoustic Cover of I'm With You by Avril Lavigne. First time I've tried singing and playing this one, still getting to grips with it, (you can see me checking the chords / lyrics hehe). Even though I'm using my TL-6, I'm still running it through the Behringer TM300 to see how it sounds. Not brought this to the group yet, but I do think it's one that would suit us.
Rhiannon Ec-1000

Rhiannon Getting to grips with this Fleetwood Mac classic. Instead of using my trusty TL-6, I pulled my lovely EC-1000BC off the wall and ran it through my new Behringer TM300 pedal. Not officially brought this song to the group yet, just something I'm working on. Apologies if you can hear chainsaws in the background, people across the way are having some major stuff done!
Dreams - LooperTest
Переглядів 814 днів тому
First play together using my new toy, a Lekato Looper Pro, fair to say, it open up some possibilities. This pedal has 9 banks and you can import from a computer, so if you're not 100% confident of getting the loops right on the night, you can do it on the DAW and import into a bank. Also saves those awkward pauses as you build your loops up.
With Or Without You - Looper Test

Getting to grips with my new Lekato Looper Pro pedal, decided to have a bash at this U2 song. Still getting used to the timing of building up loops, but holds possibilities for certain songs.

Total Recovery - Practice Session 09-Sept-2024
Переглядів 553 місяці тому
Some snippets from the practice session by Total Recovery at Als session room. Thirsty work, but He looks after us with liquid refreshment. hehe. Second time for TR with Kat on vocals, throwing all our stuff at her with little warning, as is normal. Always a laugh. Total Recovery are a local rock band, Al on guitar / vocals, Vickie on keyboards, (hidden by the music stand). Daz, the powerhouse,...

Mama I'm coming home - Acoustic cover
Переглядів 1675 місяців тому
A cover of Ozzy Osbournes track, still very much getting to grips with the song structure, thus the somewhat jerky chord shifts at times. Had to splice it part way through due to a cold call ruining the audio! (Arghh). Backing track guitars are all done by me, using an ESP Ltd TL-6 and a Tanglewood TMA-02
Catch The Wave Cover
Переглядів 186 місяців тому
A cover of 'Catch The Wave' by Velvet moon. This is a little different from the normal stuff my group 'Pyramid' does, it was created by me, working around our acoustic structure, but having drums, keys and samples as well as a couple of electric guitar tracks.

yoooo soo good
Hey nice job! I'm a drummer myself but nice job laying out the parts!🥁🎶✌🏼
Thanks, still very much in the learning stage with this, but we've a few songs where it could make all the difference by providing a background guitar allowing me to do some fills.
Hey Colin mate, we all know you tried your best with this tutorial but we gotta be honest here, You might wanna spice things up next time, its like watching grass grow, so repetitive that even ants would lose interest, It's not that we don't appreciate the effort, but hey, keep trying, champ, practice makes perfect, maybe next time we can all learn something without falling asleep
@@Sykogene Great pep talk, I'll be sure to give your encouragement the attention it deserves. 🧐
I'm trying to import, but I keep getting the error dFRWheel no geometry. Could you help me figure out what is causing this issue? There's no info on errors, so I'm kind of stumped. It's no trouble at all if you can't.
@@flamewolfjake The only thing I can think of is if you are using an empty, or maybe the parenting is wrong. It's been a while, but I think everything is case sensitive, so maybe check that too? Does my example car import ok, (it should do).
@@ColinTCS When I exported your model it gives me no geometry error for fakeshad and dBody. I know the game had a big update that broke a lot of my maps in the past. maybe they changed how it works now or something.
Nvm! I got it working just using the wrong version of the importer lol
@@flamewolfjake Hmm, that sounds feasible. Just loaded up my test car, the shadow used to be called ProjShad, try renaming that to fakeshad and see if that error goes. The old body is still called dBody and the wheel names are the same, so not sure there. I'm busy with some music stuff today, but I'll fire up my Trackmania Canyon, update it if it asks, (not used it in forever), then see if I get the same issues.
Ahh, wait a minute, found another file with FakeShad in, so I might of been looking at a project which wasn't complete before. Try working with this file, see what happens: drive.google.com/file/d/1ky7BYC4o6JcUN-77sMlMmWQuvcXs-0d8/view?usp=drive_link

Sounds really good!
Do you have the addon for the origin to center gizmo?
This is what I use: github.com/mx1001/power_snapping_pies But don't know if it works in 4.x, I'm working in 3.6 and it works fine there.
@@ColinTCS thanks.
@@goldalvarez1046 It's a really useful addon, Machine Tools is another useful addon, it has some neat alignment tools as well. It is paid, but very good. I have the DeusEx version. machin3.gumroad.com/l/MACHIN3tools

Cracking stuff!
dude! go johnny go!
Great job Colin!! 👌
Nice Video ! 👍
Hey thanks for doing this video. Always great to see how my tools end up being used. Note that Blendulate is not a Bevel tool, although it looks like that when working with a single point selection (2 line segments converging to a single point). When working with continuous multi-point selections, the two segments outside the selection are not guaranteed to converge to a single point. The tool will still make the blend, but it will not necessarily be a (circular) arc anymore. It could become a S-shaped blend even. Also note, that you can run the tool on multi-point selections after you move an entire blend around, to redo the blended part of the curve. As for merge to last, Blender does not offer a selection history for curves, like it does for meshes. So CURVEmachine has its own selection history. It does not use the active point(white), as that too is not accessible via the API. CURVEmachine watches how your selection changes, and when ever it changes by 1 point, it will add that to the history. Sou you just have to manually select the last point individually, and it will be in the history. You can box select all the other points at once before that too. It behaves actually very similar to how its one in mesh mode. Finally, try out the slide tool as well. There were many good opportunities for it. Thanks again for the video, much appreciated!
Yeah, I did mean to mention the slide function as I have made good use of that too. After doing the video I found the reselect of the last point gave me the merge to last. I'm at the point of putting windings on the machine heads and this is going to make that task much more consistent.
@@ColinTCS Cool, enjoy and thanks for your continued support!
FUCK YES!!!! Thanks for uploading this =)
I get a syntax error on line 46 when trying to install the .py script using blender 2.79. It works with 3.3 version.
Hmm, odd, I think I was at least running 2.79, though given the github has been updated, chances are I used an earlier version of the script. It's not a script I created, just one that was made available. Just checked, yup, my version has 2.79 as the minimum version whereas the latest has 2.81, even though they are both marked as v1.0.5 Strange though as comparing the scripts, they are the same apart from the minimum version up to that line. Ahh, the register / unregister are different, that could well be it. Used to be "module" now it's class.
There are subtle differences. If you are having trouble loading this script in version 2.79 this might help. To get it to activate I had to change 2 lines. I had to change Line 85 from: "bpy.types.TOPBAR_MT_file_export.append(menu_func)" to: "bpy.types.ITEM_MT_file_export.append(menu_func)" and line 89 from: "bpy.types.TOPBAR_MT_file_export.remove(menu_func)" to: "bpy.types.ITEM_MT_file_export.remove(menu_func)" before I could activate the script.
wjhat annoys me is that it seems not so well structured
That is the nature of vornoi, I grant you, I wish there was some way of controlling it.
@@ColinTCS well I meant your video
@@simonw.1223 Care to be more specific? Though do bear in mind I'm just a blender user, not a professional tutor. I don't attempt to replicate the likes of CgGeek et Al. In all honesty, I'm stunned this little video got so many views. Normally, I consider 50 views good for me. 🤓
@@ColinTCS well like if you repeat something it is kinda annoying for the viewer. As I am only a blender user who did in another program some minecraft animation I am not here to judge as I made some shorts and should get going but I distract myself often from the animation to just learn everything in blender like you video.
@@simonw.1223 Yeah, as I say, I'm not a professional. I tend to hit record then just free flow. I'm quite sure most of my videos could be refined, but for the normally low viewing, it's just not worth my time to record over and over and edit. Id say 80 percent of my videos are from personal direct requests, so I very much do them for one person, but share in case someone else finds them useful. I do appreciate the constructive feedback though.
This started off as an interesting video, but quickly became rambling while modeling something that no one understand what he's actually trying to achieve/ Again a good subject conveyed in a very poor manner.
I think what you meant to say was, you didn't understand, as I'm sure you never intended to speak for everyone based on your own personal opinion.
@@ColinTCS I never said I spoke for everyone. However, I've watched videos like your for well over a decade...closer to 20 years. And I can tell you, you are a poor tutorial producer. You had a good video starting out, but getting into a deep modeling section for about 60% of the video is just poor. - Take the comments as - constructive comments and do better.
@@Calixj23 I do have to ask, if my videos are so bad, why on earth do you still watch them for so many years? Oh and FYI, I've only had videos up for 7 years, when I first created this channel, so I am not sure where you got 20 years from. The gods know there's a ton of stuff out there and if mine are not to your liking, by all means don't watch them. As to going into modelling, sometimes I do that deliberately as I personally found it useful watching others as I often learned some hint on a process. These days, most of my videos are in reply to a personal request, so I tend to tailor it accordingly, then if anyone else finds it useful, that is a bonus. I appreciate i ramble at times, I've stopped many a recording because of it, but that is me and I do this purely for fun. I'm not a professional tutor, I don't monetize anything and it's very much a part time hobby. TBH, the chances are, if I did this video now, it would come out quite different as I've learned a lot myself since doing it.
@@ColinTCS ...OK, lets be clear. I've only watched 1 of your videos. The one I commented on. Ive never seen any other of your videos, that I can recall. The 20 years come from the time I have been watched different videos... not your videos. That said, don't take it so defensively. I certainly appreciate criticism. It helps me view what other see. You're too sensitive to someone saying something you did is not the best, and you're too old to be one of those kids that got "participation trophies", which is what one of the things wrong with the world today. You had very interesting video when you started out... then you veered away from your main topic and drifted into modeling. Like you say, there are thousands of "modeling" tutorials out there, so why water down your very interesting video. OK, enough said, I'll take back what I said, that way you can sleep tonight.
@@Calixj23 Duly noted, you have very strong opinions. Fair to say, you have made your point of view very clear. I would be interested to see how you would approach the topic, so I could compare it to this video.
the beuty of Unreall engine is tjat you can accually hardmodel in details :) with no preformce loss. so you can use this sculpt instead of trimsheets.
Colin, you had some very good points at the start of the video. I thought it was a really good analysis. What I wouldn't have done is dive into half a video of detailed modeling. This wasn't the place for a modeling video. I would have addressed the concepts you were pointing out at the beginning of the video...which was really good. If you want to show modeling, do maybe 2-3 minutes of it and no more. Then go back to the main topic..."Observations" you noticed based on your experience. I'm glad my "strong opinion" made you stop and look at the video in a different light (I'm hoping you did)... if not, this is all wasted comments. - Listen, go back and watch the. beginning of your video. Then, watch how quickly you fall off the rails. Rethink the video. Maybe take a second try at it by just staying on topic. It would be a really good video.
Great content, keep it up!

@@ColinTCS sure i will😇
With maniapark closed your tutorials have been a huge help to a newbie like me who refuses to use 3dsmax, thanks! I've had a problem though, exporting the collada worked fine, I could reimport it in blender and everything looked fine, object names, UVs, scaling... converting through the NadeoImporter also worked fine, no errors. But ingame it told me "Tree someobject has no geometry" I eventually solved it but don't know what was the issue, maybe it was because I initially didn't remove the materials or some blender/export setting that didn't play well with it Also wanted to add, MP4 supports exhaust flames when boosting. I used a cone (like ProjShad) where the rotation and scale will dictate where do the flames point and how big they are. The cones must be named Exhaust1, Exhaust2, Exhaust3...
Yeah, it's entirely possible there was an issue with shading or materials, I did have a lot of issues as I figured this whole thing out, at the time, I couldn't find anything that went through the whole process. That's the main reason I decided to do this, there is a PDF as well covering the whole thing, (link above), I was so frustrated and hit so many problems that I wanted to help others avoid my pain. 😂
Learned something, thanks!
would the process for trackmania uniter forever be the same?
That's where I initially tried, not sure about if all the suspension parts are needed. Been a long time, but I'll check and get back to you.
Ok, just loaded up my TMF and yeah, I'd imported the cars into there as well, so should be the same action.
@@ColinTCS thank you! I'll try then and let u know if i could. I wanted to do smth similar to the sonic i'd seen a while ago but with an among us character
@@mrcoffy1 Yeah, the only thing to watch is the collision box will be a set size, so if the mesh is different proportions, you get issues.
@@ColinTCS the drive link demands access, i already sent permission!
I assume this only works when the copying object's origin is in the exact same location as the object you're copying key frames from?
Yes, if the origin is offset, then naturally the mesh itself would appear offset from that position, though depending on what you are doing, that may be the desired effect, for example having something that may rotate around an offset origin point rather than using an empty.

Is the process similar for importing cars to TNationsForever?
To be honest, I don't know, the model naming hasn't changed much, though I admit I haven't tried it. I did have an old article all about TMF but it dealt mainly with the stadium car which had all sorts of suspension settings, so I'm not sure they are required for things to work.
Ok, just been doing a google, from the look of it, it still used the 'carcommon' etc as TM2 does, as well as the sbody and wheel naming, so my guess is, you can probably pull the same models into TMF.
Thank you for your response!
No worries, I had a look at the cars I made and imported, it definitely looks like the same zip file format will work, so I'd say go for it. 😎👍
Okay, I've done some further investigation. The process IS different for TMF, however, most of the work is hte same, there' jsut a slight naming change in parts and the import is done via help->custom->car model from the TMF front menu. The files the zip should contain are named differently, but the process to create them is more or less ok. You need this script: github.com/raandoom/blender_export_tmf/blob/master/3ds_export_tmf.py To export a specific 3DS file and you must run this from Blender 2.79, not Blender 2.8 or greater. I am going through hte process myself and once I get a good result, I will probably do a specific video on this as well if it works ok. This URL gives a good guide overall: web.archive.org/web/20150814205431/en.tm-wiki.org/wiki/Creating_Custom_Cars_with_Freeware
cool playing, nice one
Thanks mate. :-)
Wao.. Heavvy snow
Things like this should never happen it was a pleasure working there
FYI peeps, something I discovered, unless someone knows differently, it does NOT look possible to combine two trimsheet mappings onto one object, so when designing your trimsheets, think about a pattern you may want as panelling. As it's mapping all the unused geo to an empty space on the one trimsheet, any attempt to use a second sheet messes that up.
