GenXer here. This is truly Nastalgic. Growing up in Whittier I'm in my wonder years with this video. Thank you for the post
I lived on the corner of Stanley and Hollywood Blvd (4:26 mark) between 1989 and 1992. Almost each day I walked out my door, down Stanley, and turned right on Sunset Blvd. en route to the Chateau Marmont (1:21 mark) where I worked. I miss those times: eating at the All-American Burger, drinking beers at the Coach and Horses, hanging out at Tai on Sunset, and seeing bands at the Coconut Teezer, buying smokes at the Liquor Locker, etc… I remember one of my neighbors was a lot older, probably in his 50’s, and he said that I should have seen this area in the 1960’s. That’s when it was really nice. Now I feel the same way. I’m in my 50’s longing for a time thirty years earlier.
1:20 Chateau Marmont on the left. 1:34 I used to work at this building on the right. 1:40 I used to get my morning coffee for 50 cents at this McDonalds. :) 6:30 Mann Chinese Theatre on the left.
1989
Wow. I was a kid/early teenager during the 80's. Im 50 now. It goes to show how much better music stands the test of time than video does. The music doesnt seem so old but the 80's and the video does. Thank u very much for sharing, buddy.
menendez shit happend this year
Joseph De Maistre once said in a democracy the people get the leaders they deserve. Basically meaning that our political leaders are reflections of ourselves because we are the ones voting them to be there. I believe that law translates to society as a whole. It's not that these were "better times". They were a reflection of a BETTER society that deserved what they had
What month?

Stationed at Nellis AFB 86,87 brings back great memories!!
The year I was born ☺️
If it looks crowded then??? Check in it now in 2020s thanks to social media and MTV. Prior to this it was still "relatively" unknown as a place to come make it I use that term loosely of course. But compared to today, it looks docile
My left ear is lonely
@@B.l.i.s.s.f.u.l 🤣
Having Las Vegas as a family destination ruined the whole place. Now adults can’t really get away from children.
whats the song in the background?
@@1980sbrawl Sorry I don’t know I’ve been trying to find out for over 30 years, Shazam can’t find it.
The best place and time in the universe, L.A. in the 80s. The Sunset Strip was a lot of fun. I played in guitar in many rock bands. I'd hang out at the comedy clubs too, knew a lot of comics like Kinison. Great times.
I hate the sunset strip so ugly and boring
this is the bad part of Sunset strip.
When me and grilfreind. And some grilfrieinds go we drive the. Strip. Turn up radio. Loud. Good music

80’s Footage
RIP Mirage
The sites of palm trees and big buildings are enjoyable
wow - actual music on the radio
What a GREAT video!! I see that I'm a few years late to the party, but boy, did this bring back a ton of memories for me. I was born and raised in Vegas, and at the time this video was made, I was probably out cruising with friends. So much has changed here....and not all for the better.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the 80s music they playing.
We would. Curise. The strip. Play 80s music turn up loud
Remember Odyssey Records near Vegas World? That was THE PLACE to go for the music. Remember Wet N' Wild? All gone now.....

Back when you could drive down Fremont! Good tunes on the radio too. And sadly now they just closed one of my favorite places... Going to miss the Trop!
Thanks for the memories! I was 35 in 1989 and my company always had our semi-annual conferences at the Flamingo. I would book a room at the Sahara a couple days early and just stay there to relax and have some good food before checking in to the Flamingo. I was a single parent of 4 kids so getting the chance to relax twice a year was a blessing!
I was there in April of 92. Drove down Fremont street to see the Frontier Club and Glitter Gulch before it became what it is. Things were affordable then. But then, everything was 30 years ago.
I got married that year by the lady from the little white wedding chapel. She came with us in a helicopter and married us while flying over the strip.
First thing seen, a Back to the Future billboard. I mean...come on 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Would I be able to use this footage for my channel pls?
Yes pal no problem👍🏻

Wonder what was the last year of the golden nugget before they ruined it ?.
Back in 89 to me the Goldnen Nugget was awesome, I remember my girl friend parents taking us to a Sunday brunch there is was so classy. 35 years later I wonder what the GN is like now and cant help to wonder how Kim is doing now. :)
This is perfect! Like i was back there again, 27 years old, eating $3 steak at Westwatd Ho after poker session, walking home to Naked City, staring down the crack dealers haha

My God, such good memories 😢all gone…thank you so much for the video
Happy you enjoyed it 👍🏻
For sure. Born and raised there. All these historic places...now gone forever. What a shame.
Quite a lot of traffic back then too!
The beginning of the end here. This video shows the progression of traffic and progress to where we are today. I do remember driving down Sunset during this time. Being from San Diego I thought what a huge city Los Angeles was. A star on every corner.
Excellent footage! I highly encourage you to loop this video a couple of times and set it to vaporwave. Might be worth more to you on UA-cam than simple raw footage.
Do I have permission to use this footage for personal use?
Yeh no problem pal👍🏻
👍🏻
Very Cool!!! I had just got to Vegas in '89 after the Mirage opened. Stationed at Nellis until '92. Great memories! Been back to Vegas many times since, but just not the same as it was then. Thanks for sharing!
Lol driver was in such a hurry to get through glitter gulch both times they went through. I want to go back in time and ask them to please slow down for the thousands of people watching this around the world some 30-40 years in the future.
I remember being a kid in the 80s and seeing that back to the future 2 billboard, great times. 👏🥹😀
1984, Free drinks, free rooms, free pass to the steakhouse, free shows, one and five dollar blackjack tables, prime rib $4.99 New York steak and eggs $1.99 best of all free parking, Las Vegas was a whole different vibe. 👍
