20 years ago I decided to get something a little more economical for a daily driver. Last year we took out the head gasket. Man its been a while since i saw any updates, if it says bolt on get the grinder or get in your fab zone😂. Nothing ever fits anything for me either, keep it rolling hoss and see ya on the next one

Thanks for the feedback, it’s definitely old enough footage, that goes back to early digital cameras, it’s crazy to think that now our phones have a cameras that are 2 to 3 times better. On the upside everything else I’ll post will have better quality just based on technology. Thanks for watching

Very interesting build, what is the advantage of using the later twin plug head besides the twin plugs, does it actually flow better?
Thanks. It’s my understanding that the later twin plug head is the best flowing OEM casting, unfortunately they aren’t the best for not blowing head gaskets due to the length of the water jackets, but we are going to put that to the test. This particular head was ported, with a 490 esslinger cam and LS valve springs, it also came with a ported lower intake. The intake is one of the main reasons we are doing this swap, we wanted to get away from the unequal length of the factory 87-88 turbo coupe lower when combined with a open upper.
@@customizer4life I see ok I didn’t know that about the head gasket issues, too bad Esslinger alloy heads are no longer available those things were sick.
@@lamboferruccio Yea, supposedly but will see what it can handle, worse comes to worse we might go to a fire ring to prevent it, hopefully it’s stronger than the rumours. I would love to get my hands on one of those esslinger heads, it would be very cool!!!

What did you do with you're heater box
At the time, I had chopped out a section to add clearance for the OEM downpipe with the OEM turbo manifold from the 86 turbo coupe

This is a 1993 Audi S4 USA Spec built on the C4 chassis, also known as the 100 in base models, for North America these were built in 1992-1994, after 94 the model was changed to the A6/S6 for 1995-1997 if available in the particular market. All of these models were C4 chassis.

Nice build! Now, start building your more modern version! I'm gonna have to look more into that SN95 conversion for my 1987 V8 Ranger. I've already swapped in 95-97 beams/knuckles/calipers and 2004 sport trac rotors using my own custom caliper brackets.

The only ttb vehicles most likely to roll are the SUVs. The trucks are too light in the ass, and the Econoline is nearly as light and either rides low(150), and the cog is pretty low.
I completely agree, I was sitting there in the autocross tech area forever as they went back and forth trying to figure out if this truck was gonna be safe on the track. I guess I was the first to bring a truck to an event locally. Just putting this video together makes me want to build another Turbo Ranger!!

Awesome build today let alone 20 years ago! Always loved that old square body style of rangers but living in Minnesota there just aren’t any left that haven’t completely rusted out already.

I used to have an 88 Ranger long bed that I bought in the early 2000’s for $500 as my daily. Always wanted to do this swap, so thanks for sharing!
Absolutely awesome build man! But I have to know more about the sn95 front brakes. Did you just install the rotor and the caliper with an adapter? Spindle same size as the sn95? I have an 87 ranger I 302 swapped and I have an explorer 8.8 rear with disc brakes. But I really want to upgrade the front brakes to something better
Thanks, I appreciate that!! If my memory servers me correctly the caliper brackets line up, use the SN95 rotors bearings etc on the ranger spindle. It has been a few years since I built this but I remember having aluminum dual piston pbr calipers which I think is the cobra sn95 (on RockAuto centric p/n 14161171 / 14161172) and the matching rotors for that model. They worked really well and I even kept the same oem manual brake master cyl, all and all it was a great combo!!!

Where do you get most of your parts, suspension wise
It comes from variety, all depends on what it is, here are a few, ECS Tuning, RockAuto, FCP Euro, 034 Motorsport, A-1 Racing, SummitRacing
Well now you have gone and done it, i see the drivetrain coming out of my straight 88 TC and going into my beat up Opel Manta lol. A lot more fun and probably 800lbs less too

@@customizer4life t bird ran 8.70s 1/8 mile full weight which was 3770 and just goggled the Manta and it was 2790 when new so probably 2600 with natures weight reduction it has going on lol
@@young11984That should put it in the mid 7s in the 1/8, I was definitely surprised on how quick the Volvo is, I think I weighed pretty close to 2600, we’ll have to see what it is after all the mods this year, should still be light and making more power too!!

The 90 GTO / S4 C4 GTO are personally my favorite track cars of all time and the reason I've got my UrS6.
They are absolutely astonishing!!!
What I personally like to do is instantly slam on the gas and slam it into 6th gear then slam it back into park for better drifts
Ah yes the classic, gas/6th/P move, well done!! 😂 Unfortunately none of my vehicles have that “park” selection….weird 😂

What engine, drivetrain, trans?
It has a 2.3L Turbocharged engine from an 80s Thunderbird turbo coupe, T5 transmission and 8.8 rear diff. Running on a microsquirt, T3/T4 turbonetics turbocharger, check out my main videos to see more

Great looking car. Love rotor wheels but I couldn't keep those round here in Minneapolis for more than about 5 minutes with our roads. ;-)
Believe it or not I daily this in summer on Manitoba / Winnipeg roads, the upgrades help to handle dodging potholes 😂

Thanks, the engine position is most noticeable in the early Audi vehicles with the in-line 5, although the transmission position was the same on all of the models, it wasn’t until 2009 when Audi moved the front axle forward on the transmission essentially moving the engine position rearward

During the autocross/cone event how would you say the car handled it? If there were other people there as well what did kind of cars were in your class/time range?
The car handled very well, you can even see in the footage, the car is very flat, not a lot of body roll. Being a large chassis car it does want to push though the corners so there is some under steer. The car was competitive with tuned WRXs and Golf Rs
