py150 should be nickel azo yellow, in sennelier i think it's called yellow lake
oh, thanks so much!! 🙂
So ridiculously overpriced!! I customized and made my own board with magnets, straps and a cutout for my waterpot for under $10 and mine is waaay nicer than his are.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thankyou, you did a wonderful job.I like about half of them.:) But I want all the Holbein ones, they are gorgeous!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked them :-)
Holbein very nice colors. Still too pricey in the USA.
yes, indeed, unfortunately in Europe as well :-( I do love their quality though
Mine just arrived today!!!
Have fun with it 🙌👍
Which one is better this set or the Holbein set from the other video?
personally I would go for the Holbein set, because those have more granulation and especially a nicer color separation on the page - personal opinion of course 🙂
1.2 euro per tube! It goes to show how much of a slavery system we live in in the west. On top of the criminal tax theft by the government, we get price gouging by businesses! But of course the higher the price the more the VAT tax so the government loves it when businesses add unethical markups!!
True :-(
Steve Mitchell of The Mind of Watercolor is an excellent teacher. Almost any video you jump into will provide an important and easy to grasp lesson. He’s just a nice guy too!
I did not know that channel :-) Thanks so much for the suggestion!
Yes, i made it 2! Thanks!!
Great job!
Holbein. Nice video!
thank you so much 🙂
I like your choices. Beautiful colors. I also like phthalo green. I don't use it by itself, but as a single pigment green, it is an excellent mixing color.
thank you so much 🙂
I like van Gogh watercolors a lot. For a student grade, they work a lot better than the cotmans and even some of the white nights. The colors of your palette are great! Do you have the complete line? Cheers from Brazil.
Not the complete set - I have around 52 colors, and I believe their total range at this moment is 72 - So I have 20 more to go 🙂
I’ve already seen the holbein super granulating colors, but i want to see swatches from ALL THE WATERCOLOR PAINTS you bought! Must have been a great trip!
I promise that's a video coming up soon 🙂
I’m inspired to give it a go! Thank you. 🌺🌺🇨🇦
my pleasure 🙂
Great job. I love the colours you chose. The original photo is stunning! 🌺🌺🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
Thank you! Lots of great tools! 🌺🌺🇨🇦
Thanks for watching!

You're welcome - thanks for checking out the video 🙂
@@wyloecksketchbook I even subscribed! 😃
@@patbannister1 that is so nice of you 🙂
Can you please list the serial set number ie product code?
Hi! Thanks for the reply... Not sure what you mean exactly, but I just looked at the box and I guess you are referring to this code: WG591 , correct?
I'm trying to decide between the 8x6 and the 6x4 size. Do you find the 8x6 heavy to hold after awhile?
Hi - thanks for the reply! Oh no, not at all actually - these boards are light as a feather on themselves. I guess it does depend a bit on how big/heavy the sketchbook will be that you're gonna use, and perhaps also how big/heavy the paint palette will be, because that all adds up together for the final weight, but in terms of the board itself, there's hardly any noticeable difference in weight between those 2 versions... They really are very lightweight.
@@wyloecksketchbook Thanks so much for the insight...I might end up ordering both sizes as I just went through my sketch books, and I have so many varied sizes.
@@lark6676 Super - let me know how they turn out 🙂
Hmmm... I don't like most of these. The last two rows look very nice, but the rest are kind of dissapointing (for me). Thank you for getting these and testing them out, it's really helpful in making purchasing decisions.
Glad I could help out. And thank you for watching. :-)
Holbein
These colors are better tested on a little bit larger areas, as they need mire space to do their magic. Also quite a bit more water will make them really shine. As far as the name "Witch Bordeaux" goes, the color looks a lot like blood, both wet and dry, so it probably reminded the makers of witchcraft and the fact that witches were said to often have used blood in their potions...just a guess.😉
I was able to hunt down this set of 24 Harmonia paints on the Japanese Amazon site, if anybidy is interestwd. Here in Europe it is not sold anywhere at all. BUT on the Japanese Amazon site you will have to create an account, as they do not recognize existing foreign accounts. But then I was able to order them, as well as 2 sets with 3 tubes each of the Chinese Super Vision paints. They are all way too expensive ob Ali Express. Amazon Japan mails via DHL Express, which only took a few days to arrive in Europe.
Yes indeed, I'll need to swatch them using more water and with more space to move freely I guess... Interesting suggestion as to the name of the Witch Bordeaux :-)
Holbein.
Holbein 😊
Thank you very much for showing us these!
My pleasure 👍
Holbein 😊
Holbein! Love the colors
You taught me how to mix sepia and quin gold! thank you i was tempted to buy those colors!
that's a real nice combo, right? glad you experienced that for yourself 🙂
Thank you for sharing ive been wondering about van gogh i have all cotman paints, 1 holbein and 1 daniel smith but was interested in possibly getting some van gogh! i couldnt find you under wyloeck.sketches like the video writes but i didnt find you at watercolor wyloeck!
what an awesome stamp set used to swatch. where did you find this please! thank you!
Hi - thanks for the lovely comment :-) I actually found it very cheap on this site here: share.temu.com/pigG9zjM46A
Holbein
I want these so bad!
I've been told they would become available in the fall in the US (although I have no idea where you live :-)
@@wyloecksketchbook I am a US resident, so that's great! I'll ask for them for Christmas :)
gold citrine looks really beautiful. since i cant really get those watercolors where i live, i will try to get a py216 and try to mix it with the py3 i already have :)
Yes it does :-) Good luck! Let me know how it goes :-)
I'm envious! What a great haul.
Thanks for watching! :-)
Thank you! You've helped me avoid these. Sad to say, I was wanting Holbein's latest, but no. Not right for me. I appreciate your very revealing video and I hope you enjoy the set!
Happy to help! It's true, I still need to find good use for this set, it's a rather 'exotic' set, so not really useful in landscapes I guess...
Love all the new Holbein colors! Can’t wait to try them.
Glad you like them!
get the cheap and better looking Paul Rubens. which has been out for years....
Subscribing for your Irish accent, lol. Great video though, thankyou for including the pigment details
Haha - well, I'm not Irish at all, I'm Belgian - Hehe... Recently another person asked if I was Scottish :-) Hope you don't unsubscribe now - haha - thanks!
@@wyloecksketchbook interesting i was unaware of a Belgian accent! Love your Belgian accent!

Holbein 🎨
Th first line, all 6 are very nice. But I can’t see the granulation .
After having seen these, the Holbein and the Chinese Super Vision paints I am thinking that the term "granulation" is mostly used for the multi-color effect in these, and not so much for the grainy, texture-like look that we refer to as granulation.
Companies just slap granulation sticker on and sell for double the price lol
Amazing swatch season!!! I'm not sure how Holbein made fugitive pigments Lightfoot but I'll be interested in seeing someone doing lightfasr testing for all the Holbein granulating colors...Anyway great video, thanks for sharing ❤
Very nice commentary. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved seeing the pictures of Japan you shared. I have never been there. I cannot wait to get the new Hobein watercolors. I have about 30 of their tubes now and love them.
thank you so much :-)
very useful to see an actual paint out of these. i have only seen the holbein instagram images. which seem to show almost impossible depth of colour and colour separation. i would be interested to know... have you seen these images, and - having now had real world use of the paints - if you think that amount of colour separation could be achieved? thanks for producing this.
Hi - I'm so glad you liked it, and found it useful. I have indeed seen Holbein's instagram posts on these colors, and I have to say, the vibrancy of the colors really is spectacular, but the color separation is not at all what I was able to achieve. Perhaps I need to re-do the swatching and give the paints bigger boxes and more water to separate in... A more wet-in-wet swatching might be a good idea...
@@wyloecksketchbook thanks for your reply, I agree on your points about bigger area, and more water. Also looking again at the Instagram images, in each case holbein appear to have diluted a very large amount of paint in a bowl containing a large amount of water. This may also be a clue as to how they got some way towards their separation results, although it is a very expensive method to test out in the real world. Still not convinced that y159 can be separated so cleanly from a mix containing bk6 and b16 though - as in their hazy moon yellow photo. All v intriguing though.
I like the way the blue looked when it went into the orange. Good mix
Hehe - yes, happy accidents I guess :-)
It looks you enjoyed your time in Jpana 😊 you were lucky to be there to get the new granulating sets!
Yes indeed - it was marvellous! And I had no idea about the launch of the granulating set 🤭 - right time, right place I guess 😄
Holbein...not too bad of a job! Thanks for swatching...Are you from Scotland?
Thanks a lot! No, I’m from Belgium, why do you ask? 😀
Your "R"s have a very Gaelic sound to them to my ear so I suspect the same is for her. It's a bit reminiscint of an early Sean Connery between the Rs and the echo on some of your S's depending on where they fall in your sentence.
@@demaramorrow1661 haha - and just last week someone asked if I had Irish roots - so funny 🙂
It's those Gaelic consonants. 😂
