Driver Bus Lines 1978 GM Denning Mono

With a 6V71 GM Detroit Diesel engine filmed in the mid-1980s at Glen Iris depot Melbourne. It’s a little blurry and shaky but it’s original footage. The video highlights engine sound, engine brake, dash, interior and cars from the era. I dont think ive ever seen something so sexy. Australian ICON NOW🎉
That's hot🎉
Gotta love the sweet sound of the old gm screamers lovet 👍👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Greyhound Bus Lines called this the "Americruiser" which I rode many times between Phoenix AZ to Manteca CA in the mid 70s to 80s.
Force shifting no one that drives truck shifts that fast
How does your left leg fare in traffic? Damn come on
It’s like watching fast and the furious with the amount of shifting
Why would you have your Jake brakes on going bobtail and being recorded 🤔
Why is he using the clutch 😮😮
less stress on the drivetrain
All he is doing is dipping the clutch a bit just helps it mesh a bit smoother , helps if you’ve just jumped in a different truck ‘ they are not all the same
Beautiful !!!
Brilliant car I had an XY gt in that colour Beautiful
I want this bus. Talk about an oldie Goldie classic. And not only that, it looks really scary on the highway. When you compare this to a Kia car Kia lovers. You don't wanna mess with this baby. Lol😮
Beautiful Machine!! I'd Just Love To Make A Motor-Home Out Of This; Replace The Lazy With A Drive, Hell, Make It All Wheel Drive On Airbags, With A Toyota Type KDSS System!! Possibilities Are Endless!!
This video almost made me cry, We had a few in the fleet in NT, I love driving them half way to Darwin, changed driver at Dunmarra Roadhouse, pick up the return next day..We also drove them on tour down to the Rock...I felt like the king of the road...very powerful and so smooth...pax loved them also..Ron King and John St.Clair took over the business, I guess since the MC'8's were aging they replaced them with Austral's (Domino's), they were nice to drive, but I missed the MC8's....great bunch of drivers then in the 80's...
They were really good coaches and workhorses. I worked For Stateliner Greyhound in Adelaide SA and we had many of them. They were great to drive and the exhaust brake was pure joy to listen to.
Your actually meant to use the clutch when changing gears in a roadranger gearbox, there is a video on youtube put out by roadranger corp on how and when to use the clutch when changing gears in a roadranger
TEPSA
I worked for Ansett Pioneer as a "Coach Captain" and when I first started there were still a few MC7's in the fleet, however they were fazed out fairly soon when the second batch of MC9's arrived. I was very lucky in that when I started with the company I got to drive MC7's, MC8's and MC9's. They were a pleasure to drive and handled extremely well, especially the MC7's.
Me too, Ayers Rock Tours and Darwin Express...MC8's I'm crying watching these videos.
On the way to Dubbo!
David - Panamá.
We can all go clutchless. Its less expensive to you it though. Id never hire someone that didnt use the clutch
Yeah you won't drive my truck unless you use it.
NICE BUS MCI MC7
Fords of Australia are way more stately than the North American versions.
One of my highlights of working with you guys was seeing this for the first time and being a passenger to Seymour in it.....
I have 1971 MCI-7 with 8/71 DD engine , amazing ride , absolutely beautiful and most important anything wrong i fix my self, no computer's and gadgets!
Nice ride through Jells Park, my fav spot when I lived in Glen Waverley. Now live Qld for last 20 years. The old luxo cars in the era ware nice..
Good looking car
A lot of happy memories lined up there
I’m taking an educated guess is this a 8 gear engine?
10 speed. he skipped a couple of gears.
@@franko69oh ok thanks

He started in 2nd
@@philmckrakin6752 ok
Name an Aussie kid born in the 80s who did not take a Denning to school camp or on an excursion
Wow 😮 didn't know these buses were still around
👍👍👍
Like being in a Time Warp , CLASSIC not PLASTIC
Ese TEPSA
Los famosos MCI de la compañía americana Greyhound Y que los compro la empresa TEPSA . Siempre me acuerdo de ese motor potente wow pasaba por el sur o el norte del país y eran rápidos .
Merv Hughes Gujarat does merged total buses rights reserved worldwide, Bus company Denning Den Air Mono.. Publiclilly..
Gorgeous!
Are these still in service there? Seems like I come across a lot of pics of these MC7s that look brand new from Australia. Here is the US they come in all kinds of conditions. Someone cut the front cap off mine to make it look more like a Modern tour bus.
Regardless if you use the clutch or not if you haven’t got the rev’s right it an’t going to change into gear is it.
FKn excellent video bro. I remember back in the day the old 671 Detroit diesel with 10 speed road ranger. FK yeah FKn screamers… 👍👍💪💪
😍😍😍
Crazy (US observation). Ive never seen a RH drive GM coach before! Didn’t know they existed. How neat!!!
Needs to be retrofitted with seatbelts.
Back in the day, this was the First coach I learnt to drive
Esos OMNIBUSES TEPSAS
That box isn't going to last long the way he's hamming it into gear...and why is he using the clutch? Rookie mistakes
Horseshit, tell me you know nothing about driving a truck correctly without telling me.🥱
you can match the engine/gearbox at any speed if you know what you are doing, it wasn't crunching the gears at all , just popped in perfectly, so no damage done
sounds like a 671
8V71.
Then engine sounds like a Detroit.
Usas mucho el clouch para meter los cambios de la transmisión
Nice legs
