Nice work. Don't get any better than a 55 Chevy got to love them. Long live the Gassers 👍🏻
Nice detail in video. Very helpful! Thanks for sharing!
should have the new frame rails on the inside ID of the original frame to gain the extra 1½" - 2" on each side, that way you would have 16½" or 17" on each side instead of 15" then could put 15" wide tires instead of 12's or 13's
@@rats56 I gave that some thought but decided with the mini tubs I have enough room for the tires and wheel size I'm gonna run. Also it's just easier because the frame lines up better with the rear body mounts and has more room inside the rails where my springs are getting relocated. Too big a tire and you get that pro street look and that's not what I'm looking for.
😂😂😂😂 speak for yourself.
It's good to take a measurement in an x pattern before you cut it... then when your news rss are on level them up , get you x measurement from a pick up point on the front frame to to a pick up point on the rear then you now it should be square
I thought about the Cornfield Customs back half to fix my ‘55 frame until I discovered the front of my frame was bent. I found another frame. It was rusty but straight, did all the repairs and now my body is back on the frame.
GM installed those “internal stiffeners” near where the frame kicks up both in the front and back. I worked on 2 different’55 frames this past year. On one frame the stiffeners were riveted into the frame, on the other it was installed with rosette welds.
Didn't expect to see those was expecting the mouse turds and rusty dirt.
1955 post my favorite ride
WHERE DID YOU GET THE FRAME FAIL'S?
Cornfield customs. He has a UA-cam channel same name he's on another level does amazing work.
that green car is an old piece of junk! lol

Just a fyi (if you don't know) Sand all Sharp edges on pistons to avoid hot spots.
Well Here we go folks another You Tube engine builder head porter..Hey fella . I been building cars since the Mid 70s and I can promise you anything more than Port matching for a novice is crazy ..you have NO business screwing around with any of that . But some how your ego told you to man up and try it.. You are a fool.
I built a motor for a guy that did truck pulls after I Deck The block call shy about .020 shall we order the copper gasket.020 I glued it down with aviation permatex. After the season we pulled part of the motor down and tried to pull the copper gasket off it was glued to the block permanently we had no problems of blown head gasket. Farmer gasket is only for when you don't use gaskets. By the way we used a Fl pro o ring head gasket for the main gasket
Need a thicker gasket.
Part number on those head gaskets Gary?
@@bigblockkings1031 didn't look that close they're felpro so probably.
I'm not sure about your sketchiness rating. Seems more like a 9/10 ;-). Glad to see you survived though!!!
Switch to a wall mounted door opener.
Looking good brother. 👍
Sounds like we got some horse power going in there. Nice oil pan! Engine bay is looking good too. 👍
The goal is 700hp na with a solid roller good for 7k rpm. I've seen these 496 builds get up to 800 with better cylinder heads I got performer RPM heads 700 will be pushing it with those but good for street use and it should wind up fast.
@garysgarage.2841 love it! Honestly I can't see how you need 1000 horsepower or more. It's not like you can use it around town. Just my opinion. Don't get me wrong bragging rights are cool 😎 👍
Good thing you didn't listen to the machinest. Shoot yeah that looks close enough to Chevy orange. 👍
Yup. Honestly thought I was gonna be wasting my time but when the brushes started came out black right away I knew I just saved my bearings. Thanks for watching
An update! My Dad received confirmation from Ford he's been allocated one of these mustangs. In about a year he'll get it. Ford will hold the title for two years after that so it can't be sold that's part of the deal.
I hate when your week gets off to a bad start! Do overs!
Work benches are good to have. 👍
I was going to say that isn't a real 55 when you opened the passenger door but when you opened the driver door There it is! The famous door squeak 😊
@@bigblockkings1031 I knew when I saw all the rust it was authentic lol
More welding after this welding 😢😅 welcome to My world.
@@bigblockkings1031 I don't mind the welding as much as the grinding of the welds. One thing for sure that welder has payed itself off more times than I can keep track of definitely a good investment.
@garysgarage.2841 finding a welder to come to your house and weld all day is expensive if you can find one.
Looking good Gary! Unfortunately other stuff has to get done. The yard looks great 👍 cut quarters are not for everyone. Keep at it sir, you're getting closer with everything you get done. Will you be keeping the taillight lenses? They look good.
@@bigblockkings1031 I'm using everything possible spending where it just makes more sense. The inner quarters weren't cheap but saved a ton of work trying to salvage what was there. Thanks for watching my video I really suck at this UA-cam thing.
@garysgarage.2841 you're doing fine. Yes I do understand that sometimes you Have to buy parts. Time is also worth a lot.
Yeah us morons make bank and take our job not so serious. That guy finished his day and went home happy. You sir bend over and take it and deal with alll the stress we don’t gotta. Bet you were mad cause you needed in there. LMAO

Getting old sucks
Years ago when cars were cheap a friend of mine wanted to sell me a 55 chevy 2 door hardtop for 25 dollars. I said no because you paid 20 dollars for the car. I bought a 57 chevy for 25 dollars instead.
You sure as heck do not sound very intelligent. And here you are calling FedEx names. HA
Except he's right.
Nah, you’re an idiot. Delivery truck going to the deliver dock? No way! Your day was inconvenient for 2 minutes, poor lil fella 😢
Ty , I been saying fuck fedex ever since I heard some fucked up shit a driver did to a kid they kidnapped while working, pieces of shit, all of them.
One heck of a race car!
As a former "Exhaust Guy" (I use to work at a shop where I did most of the custom exhaust work in town), That Exhaust is beautiful. What transmission is that?
It's a German 5 speed transmission. He said it's the same transmission that's in his Pantera. That transmission is very deceptive looking at it you'd think that little thing is light but it's very heavy.
ITB's for the win! I had a customer who built one, himself (Superformance GT40) and designed an ITB setup (he was a skilled engineer). Always fun! I've had the pleasure and luxury of being around several of these cars, and worked with some legendary folks who had their hands on many of the originals, and stored and curated more than one.
Nice. Timing seems a bit aggressive on startup and a definite misfire. Sure it's not lean?
Too much initial timing
I told him that. The last day before I flew back home he finally found his little program box for the fuel injection and it was set to 15° advance I was thinking he should try 10 and see what that does.
@@garysgarage.2841 Hmm sounds like he just needs to re-verify initial timing to be safe. 15° BTDC at cranking is not far off. I normally tune on Megasquirt and Holley ECU systems and set cranking timing to 8-10°. Also does your friend have a wideband sensor installed on at least one bank to check AFR's? My ears detect a lean "pop" however could be from excessive ignition timing. Edit: I see you guys do have a Wideband installed on bank 1. What was the AFR reading at idle and a warm engine? (after all warm-up enrichment is off)
This makes me want to wrench again.
Ya I looked at your site and the "one" thing u didn't have a video about was doing or being in any way interested in "wrenching". Many vids on making drinks and playing video games though. It is kinda ironic that an engine that just was rebuilt and only runs on 6 of 8, leaks and sounds like an old hit and miss engine would motivate you to revive your "wrenching" skills.
@@matthewmoilanen787 I just looked at your channel. Are you sure you want to judge others?
