Fun days at Steak 'n' Eggs Farm
Приєднався 10 чер 2021
We live a unique way of life on a small farm in Iowa. I'm a big city girl (grew up in California and Nothern Virginia) turned country girl when I met my husband. We have three wonderful little children in which I homeshool. We grow most of our own food, raise a large garden every year and have several hundred berry plants and fruit trees out. We also raise beef cows, have a jersey house cow, pigs, goats, rabbits, a mixed poultry flock, and a bunch of barn cats and a few hunting dogs. We also have some colonies of bees that we emmensily enjoy!
We're practical people living a practical way of life and thought we'd share our way of life and tidbits of knowledge and country wisdom with you all. We enjoy living off the land and are thankful for the bounty the Good Lord has blessed his people with.
Enjoy our channel as you share our practical, simple yet rewarding way of life!

For sure. A pretty simple trick a lot of folks don't know. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tip! Subscribed! Nice greenhouse by the way 😊
Thank you so much! We appreciate the subscription and thanks for the compliment on the greenhouse! 😊
@@Steakneggsfarm keep up the good work babe!
no idea why, but my feed has been filled with gardening videos. and I LOVE IT.
Gardening is the best! We love being out there That for the comment.
This is a good farming tip😊
Thanks! Glad it was helpful.
Fascinating, ive never seen anyone run 3 brood boxes?
We live in South Central Iowa. Gets very cold here. So we run a minimum of 2 deep boxes plus an additional honey super for resources for the bees to overwinter We also feed a supplemental candy board all winter. We do have a single deep of a swarm that just showed up. We'll see if they makes it. Thanks for watching.
AND IT LOOK GOOD
Thanks. I appreciate the compliment
I love all of these dishes
I agree our children love this meal. Thanks for the comment.
Great! In what country are your bees in?
Thank you! We live in the United States of America 😊
Squirel - you might as well eat cat " )
Sooo tasty.....I'm not sure about cat that's one stoke over the line for me.
Bless you and your beautiful family 🙏🏽
Thank you 😊 We hope God blesses you and your family as well 🙏
That looks sooo good ❤
Thanks! It is!
Does this happen often??
Typically not this time of year. Very common in the spring. Uniquely enough this wasn't even one of our colonies. They showed up from somewhere else. We are excited. We'll see how they over winter. I'll help them along.
You're young children will not realize how lucky they were till later in their life that they got To Do things like this with their dad.
I sure hope they remember these times and enjoy them as much as Dad does. Thanks for the comment.
Bee keeping is always interesting Thank you for sharing 👍😄
Your welcome! We appreciate you watching our channel 😊
Great job brother
Thanks 👍
Girl in back looks like she not to happy about it😂
She was a bit scared. We were telling scary stories at the campfire earlier. Lesson learned before tramping around the woods in the dark.😭
Nice!
Thanks!
Can we see the after picture?
I'll get one posted. Thanks
Do you sell the honey-filled comb. I remember as a kid chewing on the honey comb. What a snack!😋
What a snack for sure!! Our little boy loves the honey filled comb. We will be selling it next year for sure. We didn't have enough this year to sell. Thanks for the comment.
thank you Jesus for these ladies Amen this is what true american Dream sharing helping and preserving what we need to do today to restore what has been destroyed in and by indignant arrogance praise be to God
Thanks for the comment and I agree it's all about our Savior first and spreading his love and joy with others God Bless.
Aren't they agressive? I heard bees can attack other hives, especially if beekeepers collect honey from them too much
They can become aggressive ( robbing other hives - I actually have a video on my channel of this happening) during a dearth ( no nectar flow) taking honey doesn't really have anything to do with this behavior though. Feeding your bees properly during a dearth can help elimanate this behavior along with using robber screens Thanks for the comment.
God is great 🙏❤️🙏
For sure We are Soo thankful for His blessings! Thank you for the comment
Did they lose their queen and can they survive the winter without a queen?
The existing colony she swarmed from yes is now queen less. I'll explain this in another video stay tuned. We have her with the swarm though. Watch my channel in the near future and I'll show you how we fix this issue for they will Not make it through winter without a queen. Thanks for the comment and question
How amazing
For sure!! God is great and amazing!! Thanks for the comment.
God works in mistirourse ways. I remember me and my mum had $10 to feed us for two weeks b4 xmas mum said a prayer because her mood was low. When my mum got to the supermarket there was a skip because the freezer failed . When my mum got home the car was filled to the top with every kind of steak, lamb chops, and legs ,salomon. It filled my mums double freezer in the garage.& My mum had a tall freezer filled and her fridge freezer , yes thank you Jehovah for looking out for us. Frozern chicken, my mum didnt bother with mince. Yes i believe in god & jesus x❤❤❤
WOW!!!!!! I LOVE THIS TESTIMONY!!! would you mind if I share this on a video upcoming? That is an Amazing testimony!!!! God is so great and thank you for sharing this I appreciate it
NW ohio. First year. I was going to fashion some blue board for insulation leaving an air hole on their porch. Whst do you do to keep them warm?
The very most important thing you can do to keep them warm is A LOT of bees! 2.) insulation on the top is the most effective insulation you can use. I'll post a video of this coming up in the near future. We make our own top covers and candy boards with winter insulation on the top we have our bees on the south side of the building so they have a wind block from the north wind. We put a bale of hay to block the west wind. If it falls 40 to 50 below zero for an extended period of time we will wrap the sides in insulation. More info to come I'll post on my channel. Thanks for the comment and question.
I haven't heard this song in forever
It's a good old one for sure. Used to listen to this as a kid! Thanks for the comment
I love it!
Thanks a quick little chore for a lot of corn. I'm thankful they were so sharing. Thanks for the comment
Oh man, that is such a blessing!
Absolutely! We love and are thankful for God's blessings. Thanks you for the comment
How hard is it to raise bees how do you get started
Not hard but complicated to a degree. Lots of homework first I suggest. Learn the biology of a bee colony. Read a lot of books, watch a lot of videos ( I have several posted). Learn all you can there are some great resources out there. And most of all experience, experience and experience. Find a mentor if you can or ask me questions I'll be happy to help How to get started... I suggest starting with a nucleus of bees verses a package of bees. You'll need to order in Jan. Or Feb. Good luck and I'll try to help if I can Thanks for the comment and question.
Do a hot blade to cut off
I'll have to check into that. $15 sounded a lot better than over $100 at this time😃. Maybe next year.
Very cool, just subscribed from Poland Maine. Hi
Thanks welcome to the channel and thanks for the subscription. Hope you enjoy my channel. Hi to you too. 😊
You shouldn't use metal knife!
I've not saw any honey knives that aren't metal. 😃 Thanks for the comment.
Why not?
I agree why not use a metal knife. Even the heated knives are metal?
@@brucelamb4384 Iv found two potential reasons someone might think this. Metal corrosion and enzyme damage. Both regarded as myth.
You look so high 😭😭✌🏾💀💀
I still enjoy the homestead content ❤

Bees have ice in their veins.
Thanks for the comment.😊
😊😊😊 So bees sleep? I think I heard that before.
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it.😁
Smart girl, quite handy. I'm a guy, and have never used a saw on my own. I took woodshop in 6th and 7th grade, used it some with the help of my instructor, but that's about it......
You're kind. I appreciate the comment. I am pretty handy if I say so myself. Sure not afraid to try something new. 😊
😊😊
Thanks 👍
