Feedback. Some avoid it at all costs. Others find the most haunting, electrifying sounds hidden within the noise. In this video, we explore how controlled feedback can be transformed from an unwanted screech into a powerful musical tool. Using the Audrey II synthesizer, we’ll show you how to capture, shape, and unleash feedback to create everything from eerie soundscapes to rich, sustained tone...

Super interesting session! I think I'd definitely put the delay in the loop since it's pitch shifting. Would be cool to try in an alternative firmware. Audrey III needs more I/O :) Thanks for sharing!
Just ordered one, this is right in my alley and I'd love to make a video about it. Quick question, the format seems to be 3U. Would it fit in a euorack row and if so, can it be powered by a eurorack case? If not, it may be a cool idea to turn it into a module like a Moog tabletop so it's easier to hook up with other FX.
Hey, thanks! It’s indeed 3U, and it can be powered through the rails, but the output is still line level. If you email me I can add the Eurorack connector for you in the back. Roey at Synthux.academy
@@SynthuxAcademy I'll check my mail for a confirmation. This is super!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mine’s arriving soon!
Audrey II is a horrorscape, feedback synthesizer. Learn more www.synthux.academy/audrey-ii
interesting to see the bitwig grid on your website background hehe any chance of making this synth in the bitwig grid?
Yea, Nick designed it first on Bitwig Grid. Maybe ask him on our Discord if he still has the file? Link to Discord on our website.
@SynthuxAcademy awesome just joined the discord!
I've got an Audrey II coming. It will be a great addition to my collection of small electronic instruments I use for improvisation. As a modular synth builder and user, I'm very interested in the Audrey II signal flow diagram. The Body function is obscure, though. From this talk I gather it is another delay between the filters and the feedback input to the Karplus Strong delay. If I can get onto Discord, I'll have some questions. I'm going to play around with my Eurorack modular to try and create a similar signal flow by patching a KPS oscillator, distortion, reverb, filtering and a feedback delay. Every signal flow diagram gives me ideas.
I agree, the Body function is quite confusing. Please do join discord to ask more about it. Nick is also there.
Ordered mine last week, I think it's arriving it two days! I write music for horror games, so this is going to a good home :)
You quickly showed a panel by Lucas Bonvin (?). Where can I get more information about that?
Never mind. I found it all on github.
Yea, it’s there. It’s quite a complex build though, so we are working to simplify it.
I ordered the DIY kit for Audrey II.
Nice! It should be out tomorrow. Enjoy!
Would love a version with CV control
Sounds amazing... but no V/OCT???
This was intentional, but I also miss it now that I play it a lot. We might release a new firmware with 1V/O through USB midi. I’ll look into it!
That's really cool. It's good that it is actually so limited on this one thing what it does, therefore it opens up large sweetspots and musical possibilities. Congratulations! And nice video, Roey!
Thanks, Manu!
Cor flip!
Beautiful!! Where can I get that shirt?
Sounds incredible. Is this available through any N American retailers?
Thank you! It might be available through Perfect Circuit soon, but for now it’s available on our site (we do ship to US).
At 1:05 we see what look slike flames. Is that what I'm seeing? Wondering how those orange streaks are created.
It’s Parker Hertzberger’s I See Sound project. A metal ring stretching wires to a large speaker with light in the back. Very cool project. Look him up on Instagram instagram.com/parker.hertz/
Nice an all, yet the TE price point seems a tad ridiculous. I'd pay maybe around 100$ for a kit & only slightly more assembled (as assembly is sooo simple)... Good luck though
Hey, thanks for the feedback. Pricing is tricky, especially when you’re tiny like us. But, Audrey II is completely open source. You can build it on the Daisy for around €30. The code is available on our GitHub repository. Enjoy!
@@SynthuxAcademy I understand you need to recoup cost etc. best to you...
This Eurorack form factor seems much more appealing to me than the desktop version. Any plans on releasing this? If so, would be great if it could be a bit smaller :)
commenting on myself here, you guys need better pics on your product page. It’s totally not clear what the casing of this thing looks like and whether it is Eurorack compatible or not.
@h3rtz I agree. We are a very small organisation, and these things take time. The unit is Eurorack 3U height 42HP width and I can add a custom Eurorack power header in the back for you. The audio output is still line level though. Send me an email and I’ll sort it for you. Roey at Synthux.academy
@@SynthuxAcademy hey thanks for the effort, I’ll get back to you on this.
I've been studying and experimenting with dynamical systems and chaos using visual and mathematical techniques since the 80s to see this applied as a pro audio device reminds me of when the Mandelbrot set became art.
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! Im tryna develop some good new plugins 😃
Awesome! Most our synths started with someone saying I’m developing a new plugin, to which I replied - how about we make it a physical synth! If you want to explore this idea join our Discord and let’s talk. www.synthux.academy/core#join

Really loving Audrey 2 and the video on feedback and Audrey 2 was great too. Lovely work all round.
Thanks so much, Ben! Can’t wait to hear how you play it.
Dabbling in the dark arts...🖤
This looks very exciting! Pumped to order
The thumbnail made me think this was about the 2024 tax return process.
I get confused too with this calculator.
This sounds great!
Cheers!
Damn.. ❤
Sounds awesome. Thanks for doing something different. Does the diy kit require soldering?
Yes, but we have tutorials for that. I think we also have a couple of Pinecil soldering irons if you don’t have one. Email us and we’ll help roey at Synthux.academy
@ awesome. I just received the crum drum kit last week and that will be my first soldering experience. If that goes smoothly, I’ll be getting the Audrey 2 next. Thank you for your response.
@ what’s the power source?
@teamphil USB. But you can add a Eurorack pin header in the back and power it with a Eurorack system. Note that the audio output is not Eurorack level though.

What a service to humanity.... I am seriously considering buying all your kits and a couple courses. Really like your style. Thanks for putting this out into the World!
Thanks so much! Let me know if you have any questions about any of the kits. Don’t forget to join the community (Black Friday deals will be announced today!)
Love this new genre of modules...its next level and definitely inspiring. Considering getting one but my soldering skills aren't so good. Do they come pre-built as well? Also love the cubed sticker in the vid. Do these come with the kit also? I have started to personalize my kit somewhat :-) Thanks
Hey, yea, they come assembled as well. Check our website. And the stickers are included :) enjoy! www.synthux.academy/shop

Cools stuff, but the hiss is ouch
Yea, still working on my recording setup. Thanks for listening :)
Love feedback and love the video, really well done!
Thanks so much, Ben! It means a lot!
Me watching this at 02:47: Fear 💀

Haven’t bought any gear this year but that’s about to change. Very inspiring stuff! Also, the fact that I know Nick D and we live in the same city makes this very personal and lovely. ❤
Awesome! Hope to come visit Colorado at a certain point. It’s been a long time since I visited the US.
this song fire.
Good Job Bro ... I hear Colors ❤❤❤
oooh my god ,😍😍😍
This is cool
I ordered one and I ' m waiting for it.....
Should arrive in a few days! 👀
@@SynthuxAcademy I just got it but i see it's not a eurorack.....waht is the voltager of usb power ?
@grumpfigrumpf USB is 3.3v. But the Daisy can get up to 17V on the Vin pin. You can solder a eurorack power connector, but beware that the output is line level. Don’t attempt to connect CV into it.
Is this instrument designed to be mounted in a eurorack case?
Yes, it’s 42HP 3U. You can also add a Eurorack power connector in the back. But note that the output signal is line level. If you want to have the Eurorack power connector please note it in the order or send an email to hello@synthux.academy

Oh. That slowly leaches through and drags you. Interesting
Yea, Audrey can be very slow and soothing. I’m still discovering its full potential.
When I hear this I can't help but think about the haunting sound of a harmonic/aeolian/drone flute. Especially the ones you spin like a bull-roarer and they slide through harmonics. I wonder if there were a way through using two of these somehow synced or an fx pedal that would create the same haunting harmonic tones?
Trying two of these together is on my list. I’ll investigate a possible drone fluit inspired composition!

an amazing range of werid noises, lovely!
Oh yea! I’ve made lots of experiments in the last few weeks. Will share them in the coming weeks. Really cool instrument. Very unique!
